Derek studied Jack Bragg through the two-way mirror. He was sitting in the interview room with his lawyer, Norman Schultz, who had a reputation for providing pro bono defence services for hopeless cases. Derek had heard Norman’s services were paid for through crowdfunding. Even sovereign citizens had anonymous benefactors, apparently.
The neck tattoo gave Bragg a menacing appearance but he looked like any other thug to Derek: smug and defiant. Derek wondered how long that would last when the gravity of the situation he’d landed himself in dawned on him.

Derek followed Tim Healy into the interview room and sat opposite Jack. He let Tim lead them through the formalities required for the video recording of the interview.
