‘You have arrived at your destination, on the left.’ The posh English voice of the navigation system made Pat smile. It was so out of place, especially on a day hot enough for even a mad dog to be looking for shade. He parked the car in the shade of the street tree in front of the house.
There was a white Toyota Hilux parked in the driveway, behind a bright blue Hyundai i30 sitting under the carport.
‘Looks like someone is home,’ said Lina.
Pat snapped a shot of the number plate on the Toyota, before joining Lina on the verandah, where she was pressing the button for the doorbell.
The door was opened by a woman old enough to be Lina’s mother. ‘How can I help you, love?’
Lina showed the woman her identification. ‘We’re looking for Robbie and Tessa King.’
