Chapter 28

Ethan's cold gaze lingered on Grace for three seconds. During those seconds, Grace felt as if Death itself was staring at her. When Ethan finally looked away, she let out a heavy sigh of relief, realizing she was drenched in sweat. Ethan gently raised Sophia up, asking with concern, "Are you okay?" Seeing her beloved arrive, Sophia's last bit of stubbornness melted into overwhelming grievance, crying in Ethan's embrace. She whimpered, "Ethan, I didn't... I really didn't cheat! They're framing me! You have to believe me..." Ethan gently stroked her hair, his eyes full of heartache. "I believe you. I've always believed you!" Poor Sophia had endured slander and abuse during the toughest five years, making her spirit fragile. Any slight action could touch her sensitive nerves. With someone to rely on, Sophia gradually calmed down after crying in Ethan's arms for a while. She wiped her tears, picked up July, and smiled brightly at Ethan, "Ethan, they don't welcome me here. Let's go!" Seeing Sophia's forced nonchalance, Ethan's eyes grew colder and colder. At this moment, Grace's blatant mockery rang out, "Sophia, is this the man you fancy? Look at him, worth less than 20 dollars from head to toe. Your taste is really terrible!" Grace looked Ethan up and down, speaking with disdain, "I'm curious, how did you get into Angel Group? Oh, I get it. The toilets must have been broken these days. The security probably thought you were a repairman given your shabby outfit, so they let you in directly!" The crowd burst into laughter, but Ethan remained unmoved. He looked at the wildly laughing Grace, squinting slightly, and asked, "Grace, was it you who accused Sophia of cheating?" Grace proudly responded, "That's right, it was me!" Ethan thought for a moment, then suddenly said, "The president of Angel Group is Roger Marina, right?" Grace nodded and said, "Trying to scare me with Mr. Marina? He boasts billions and frequently appears in financial magazines. What's so special about knowing his name!" With a sneer, Grace added, "Toilet repairman, don't tell me you know Mr. Marina? Haha..." Ethan also revealed a cold smile. "Seven years ago, I gave Roger a piece of advice, and only then did Angel Group come to be what it is today!" Grace was slightly stunned, then burst into laughter. "You? Gave Mr. Marina advice? Haha... Should he call you ‘Master' then?" Ethan seemed not to notice the sarcasm in her words and nodded seriously, "You're not wrong." Grace laughed so hard that tears came out. "Ha ha... Sophia, I'm actually starting to feel sorry for you. Not only is this man poor, but he's also an i***t!" Other interviewees looked at Ethan with deep ridicule, clearly agreeing with Grace's judgment. Facing the crowd's ridicule, Ethan also smiled. He looked at Grace and said, "How do you know I'm not telling the truth?" Grace sneered, "Hmph! It's your mouth, say what you want. It's not illegal to boast!" Ethan smiled and asked, "What if I said Roger will be here soon?" Grace burst into laughter. "What did you say?! Ha ha... Sophia, where did you find such an arrogant fool!" Mocking, Grace added, "Don't say Mr. Marina is miles away. Even if he were in Greenhill City, with my status, I couldn't contact him, let alone you!" Grace calmly looked at Ethan, with a supercilious expression. "If you can really make Mr. Marina appear here, I'll apologize on the spot and admit I'm a blind fool!" Just as the words fell, a burst of noisy footsteps sounded! The door was suddenly pushed open. Roger, in his forties and dressed in an expensive suit, rushed in, looking around anxiously! When his eyes met Ethan's, an obvious expression of excitement appeared on his face. He quickly pushed through the crowd, running to Ethan. His eyes even glistened with tears. Ethan looked at Roger and smiled lightly, "Not bad. It's been seven years since you almost jumped off a building. You've matured quite a bit!" Although Ethan was younger, he spoke as if he were lecturing a junior. Roger, however, felt no displeasure. With red-rimmed eyes, he bowed deeply, "Master, I finally see you again! Thank you for your guidance back then!" At this moment, the entire place fell silent! Grace was utterly dumbfounded!
