Chapter 2:
Jiyong's POV:
It's been weeks since the first day of school. That Jihee girl glares at me every time we see each other. She's much scarier than those people who send death threats to my mom combined. It's like she throwing killer knives at me through her eyes.
By the way, I'm Jiyong Fifi Anderson but my Korean name is Hwang Jiyong. I'm 16 years old and single *winks*
When I was young my family usually move from one country to another for every 3-4 years because of my dad's business. But now, my mom built her own law firm in Jeju-do and my sister lives there with her. I settled here in Incheon alone, anyways, to live on my own. I've been staying here since last year. Isn't it the norm for rich families to leave their children alone on their own? My grandfather, though, sometimes stays here with me, then back in the US and then another country.
But most of the time, I'm alone. Or if not, maybe my friends are just bugging me and staying over.
Oh well. I'm at the locker room right now and there's Jihee walking towards hers.
Jihee saw me looking at her and she glared at me. I just look back at her with a cold blank stare.
"It's happening again." some students, who're in the locker room, whispered.
I look away from Jihee and smiled at the other students.
"Jiyong is such an ideal guy. Why is that Jihee girl so mad at him?" I heard some girls behind me whispered to each other.
Is it my fault for being born handsome and incredibly charming? Tsk. Tsk. Don't be too insecure. I take a look at my phone to check the time and I also noticed the date. It's almost July, summer break is just around the corner. Argh! It'll be no fun going on breaks without a girlfriend to flirt with.
I noticed Jihee standing in front of her locker, staring at it blankly. She has cute eyes, not so pointed nose but it's acceptable, thin pinkish lips, soft and pale skin, her height isn't bad too. She kinda looks like an angel. She could be a perfect girlfriend, but geez! Her attitude is the worst. But that makes her want to have her. I can have any girl I want without a sweat but with her? It's gonna be fun.
What? Jiyong, are you seriously considering her?
She suddenly looked at me and our eyes met.
I thought she's about to smile but then she frowned and walked away.
Whatever. I get my things and went home.
"Welcome home, young master." My butler greeted me.
"Ready the car. I'm going to the mall. I'll just change my clothes." I said to him
"Yes young master." butler slightly bowed before I walk away.
I went upstairs to my room and start changing my clothes. After that, I get in the van and he drove me to the mall.
"Pick me up at 10 pm." I told him.
"Yes young master.." He replied and waited for me to enter the mall before he drove away.
While strolling around...
"Look. There's a handsome guy." girl 1
"You're right.." girl 2
They were whispering but I could clearly heard them. I smiled at them..
"So cool!" girl 1 & 2
I always encounter girls like this. Girls who only look at physical appearances.
Why I fake my attitude? Instead of being a fake, I would call it a sarcastic one. Girls like Jihee are the most interesting ones because they can see beyond the visuals. If you're not someone who just look for someone handsome, you would know when someone is actually not as nice as they look like, right?
And isn't it more interesting if you fake something, anyway? Then, girls like them are too annoying that I just smile and fake it every time. And with this "fake" attitude, I was able to see how shallow some girls are. I never had a girlfriend just for everyone's information. I flirt here and there but officially, nah.
Anyway, after walking and looking around, I decided to eat. I found a great restaurant and I look at the menu. It looks good so I decided to eat there. While eating, I saw a familiar girl entering the restaurant. She looks cold as ice and staring at the restaurant probably thinking whether to eat here or not.
"Jihee!" I called and smirked
She searched the place with her eyes to look for who called her and when she saw me, she raised an eyebrow. There's that sassy girl again. I waved at her like trying to tell her to come in and talk to me. Well, BAMM! What do you know? She did. I knew this girl had some kind of secret attractions towards me.
"Are you stalking me?" I teased with a smug face.
"Yeah... So what? Are you gonna report me? Then, go ahead." she rolled her eyes and walks away
"Wait!" I said but she didn't look back.
"Cussy!" I yelled.
She glared back at me with a shocked expression. Hahaha, so, it's true then.. She hates being called her second name. But who could blame her? Who doesn't? It's like our parents were possessed by the devil while giving us a second name. Why does second name sounds so awful?
"Why did you know that?! Are you stalking me?" She shouted in a whisper.
"It just happened that I knew. And no, I am too handsome to be your stalker." I grinned.
Okay, I probably did. Turns out Choi Jihee is her Korean name but her birth name is actually Jihee Cussy Cowperthwaite. I also learned that she's filthy rich like richest of the rich kind of rich but why does she hides that fact? Seems like no one at school knows that. Anyway, it's not like I care about her riches.
"Shut up. What do you want?" she asked and sat across me.
"It's 5 pm. Spend 5 hours with me."
"Not gonna happen.." she said while shaking her head
"Why? I just want you to like me and if that happens everyone in the school would love me again, no one hates me." I pouted.
"Don't do that. You look like a fish." she said.
Those who heard her, laughed.
"Spend 5 hours with me or I'll call you Cussy every time I see you." I said seriously
"*smirks* By any chance, do you like me?" she smiled and laugh
Wow. That laugh is kinda.. cute? And it sounds.. innocent..
"I.. I.. I don't know what you're talking about." I shake my head frantically.
"Hahahahahaha.. You're a tomato." She keeps on laughing.
"Why are you so happy?" I asked slightly annoyed.
She stopped laughing and the seriousness and coldness on her face returned.
"Who told you I'm happy.." it's a question but the answer is so obvious.
I might have unintentionally hit a sensitive spot. I gulped and licked my lips before saying anything.
"Never mind. So what now? Would you?" I asked again
"'Kay fine whatever." she rolled her eyes.
She slightly raised her hand to call the attention of the waiter and she gave him her orders. It was served quickly and I start eating again. I saw her ate a spoonful and slightly pushed the dish away.
"You're done already?" I asked her.
"I'm decisive. One bite is enough to know if I want it or not." She replied. "Can you eat any slower than that?" she hissed.
I just continued eating. She was staring outside the restaurant and I took a glance on what she's staring at. It was a tarpaulin about Kpop Dream Concert or something. Is she a fan? I never thought a girl as cold as her would be interested in Kpop genre. But she likes the music right? Not just those handsome visuals? Why do I seem like I care? I don't.
"Should I buy you a ticket?" I asked anyway.
"Nah. I don't like that either." she replied.
"Is there something you like?" I asked again.
"Why'd you ask?" she asked back.
"Is it right to answer a question with another question?" I complained.
"It's not like you'll remember it anyway. Just hurry up slowpoke." she rolled her eyes.
Why is she always on the edge? Is it the time of the month? Geez. Her phone rang and she answered it after 3 rings.
"Hey dickhead. I'm not at home. Mall. I'll be back late. You can just tell me tomorrow. Yeah. See ya." She said on her phone.
Was that Wang Tyler? That dude was in my class and he's the complete opposite of this girl. He's friendly and nice. Was he looking for her? That guy is amazing to be able to handle this girl well.
I finished eating and we paid for our meal. We start strolling the mall together and as I was picking some clothes, I saw her picking things too at the male section.
"For your boyfriend?" I asked.
"If I have a boyfriend I'm not here with you." she said with a straight face
"With that attitude, you'll never have a boyfriend."
"I don't need anyone..." she stare straight into my eyes "...to make me happy or make me feel special."
"Whoa, easy.. Do you have a big issue about guys?" I asked and took a few steps back.
"Mind your own business." she rolled her eyes and left that store without buying anything.
Jihee's POV:
It's the lunch break and I went to the canteen. I look around to look for Tyler. He told me yesterday that he was gonna tell me something important but I was with the creepy dude and I have things I wanna buy for myself
I found Tyler eating lunch by himself. He looks so happy and energetic as usual.
I sat across him and I leaned on the table.
"You would like the food. Do you want me to get you some?" he asked.
"Up to you." I replied nonchalantly.
"Just wait here." Tyler said and went back to fall in line.
It took a few minutes but he came back with a tray full of Korean foods. He arranged it in front of me.
"You see this is kimchi, bone soup, rice, bulgogi, and sliced honeydew. I also bought 2 strawberry milk since it's your favorite." Tyler said with a huge smile on his face.
"Something's wrong with you." I replied while staring at him.
Knowing him for a long time, I know when he's hiding something. Is it something about what he's going to tell me?
"Jihee... I need to leave. I need to go back to the US. But just for a few months. You wouldn't even notice it. I'm sorry, I can't be with you but I promise I'll be back." He said while staring straight into my eyes like trying to convince me.
But a memory flashed through my mind.
"Baby, I'm sorry mommy and daddy needs to leave. Sorry we can't be with you." Dad said outside my door
I open the door and run to my parents I hugged their knees since I can only reach that part.
"No! Mommy, daddy! Please don't leave me alone! Please." I said while crying hysterically
"Sorry Jihee." and they left me alone in the hospital
I blinked and reality hits me.
"Go. I'm used of being alone. I don't need anyone. I don't need you!" I said.
I kicked the table and the foods were spilled on the floor. How great. I never knew this day would come. Even Tyler was leaving me. Just wonderful. I wanted to tell him what happened yesterday but those wouldn't matter anymore. I just don't care about it anymore.
"Jihee.." Tyler called as he grabbed my arm to stop me.
"Let go." I said and pushed him away.
I walk away without looking back.
At the end of the day, I was left alone in the classroom as they've all left after class. I walk to the locker room to get some of my things and found 2 strawberry milk boxes. No matter how much I tried keeping it in but a drop of tear or two left my eyes but I wiped it even before it reached my cheeks.
