“Well, hello to you too, Mother,” I said as I stood up. Judy went to step forward and get between us. But I didn’t want my mother to know about Judy just yet. I had no such qualms about motioning to Nicholas and Alexander and letting them know to stay where they were. I didn't mind my mother realizing I was not as alone as she thought I was.
