Unseen Threats

212 Words
Episode 8 Maya tried to sleep, but the night felt alive with shadows. Every sound—the hum of traffic, the creak of the apartment walls—made her flinch. The close calls, the photographs, the black car—they were all reminders that she was no longer safe. Deran sat beside her bed, eyes scanning the street below through the blinds. “They’re clever,” he said quietly. “They know we’re planning. They’re waiting for a misstep.” Maya’s hands trembled. “How can I fight them when I don’t even know who they are?” Deran took her hand, steadying her. “You don’t have to fight alone. That’s why I’m here. And Selene.” Just then, a notification on Maya’s phone made her heart stop—a live feed from an unknown number. On the screen, someone was watching her. A shadowy figure moved across her apartment, careful, deliberate. Her breath caught. “They’re inside?” Deran’s jaw tightened. “Not yet. But they’re close. Very close.” Maya realized then that the threats were no longer distant—they were invisible, lurking in plain sight. Every step she took, every glance outside, could be observed. And in the game of shadows, one wrong move could be deadly.
