Council Meeting
Kara's POV BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. I slap the alarm off. This is the second time the alarm on my phone has gone off. Guess I should get up before Emperor Hard-ass comes knocking on my door to tell me where I am needed next. I think in my head as I pull the covers off and start rummaging into the closet to pull out my training outfit and gear. It consists of nylon-type form-fitting yoga pants and the same type of material for the tank top and the crop-top sleeves. This type of material never shrinks or loses its fit, which is a bonus for when we need it on the combat field. It's an added bonus to our armor. There is a slight insignia on both shoulders of our pack. It's an upside-down triangle with a wolf baring its teeth with blood trickling from its mouth. Our pack is not original, it is called Hybrids. We have a mixed bunch of super naturals within it. From wolves, vampires, a few humans that have special clearance, witches, and then the mix. See, wolves, and vampires were always enemies and have been at war since they encroached on each other's territories. There were not many of them in the beginning and slowly humans started to join in the fight to kill both sides. Then all three came together and created a pact that was a peace of co-existence. The supernatural world would be hidden from humans, and we would have to uphold it unless humans somehow learned about powers. BANG. BANG. BANG. "Kara Blade, you have been summoned to the council room at once," Lance Blade announced. I ripped the door open."You know, you could have sent a link" I walked out fully dressed with a dominance surrounding me. "It's not like you to be an errand boy." "Kara, something has changed in the human world. It is not the same anymore," Lance stated, and handed me papers to look over. "What am I looking at?" I looked at the top of the page, reading the title: URGENT MATTER - HUMAN AND SUPERNATURALS AT WAR. " Lance, how did the papers get this information before us!?" I yelled and started to sprint down to the council room at once. Lance running with me. "We do not believe that they have reached the supernatural war, but more of the lines that they have powers and they are calling them 'abilities'. They have been using them for the past few years, and we do not know how," Lance said, without skipping a beat. "You don't think that the main vampires have something to do with this?" We were only a few feet from the council room - "Maybe the witches of old had a play at this with the original vampires that branched out long ago. They must have intermingled with the humans at some point and them leaving this world to be on a planet of darkness could have triggered the event." I linked Lance. "But we have been in hiding from them for a few years since they decided to want to kill off every Hybrid child in existence." "This is why there is only a handful of Hybrids left within the pack of wolves and vampires. No one has a clue on who is a hybrid and who isn't, but you and me. This is why your blood is truly unique, and I am grateful to be by your side as a guard." Lance bowed his head as his hand reached for the door. "After you Guardian Blade." With that he opened the door. At the small table is the leaders of the main houses: Leader of the first house: Alpha Cameron Bates of the wolves. By her side is Beta Luca Tailor, wolf. Leader of the second house: Leader Thomas Valentine of the vampires. By his side is Knight Johnathan Bull, vampire. Leader of the third house: Coven Leader Camilla Summer of the witches. By her side is Guard Mookie Bittersweet, witch. Leader of the fourth house: General Wallace Smith of the humans. By his side is Sergeant Lilly Banks, human. As I walked in to see them sitting in their respected seats. I take my seat in the Guardian’s Chair. The one that sits next to the empty Hybrid seat. "So, can we all tell me, exactly, what this is about?" I threw the paper at the center of the table and hushed the whispers among the Leaders. "You know the timing isn't right, Lance. When I get the information I need, I will spill what I know. For now, they think that my people and your people are together." Lance was silent and I can feel him nod in approval. "My dear, I thought you would be training your guardians today?" Camilla said in a sickly-sweet voice. "You really don't need to bother with this garbage made from the community." Her smile sickened me. "Someone summoned me here to talk about how there is a war breaking out. Our little town has been out of the human eyes for centuries. So please, General Wallace, care to explain?" I glared at the leaders intently. all the leaders have their own little areas within the limits of the town we are in, except for the humans. General Wallace and his second-in-command are the only ones allowed access within these walls as 'classified information', so he calls it. “I don’t think you should even be here. This is all non-sense” General Wallace chuckled, but a bead of sweat was forming at the top of his forehead. “You are lying, I can smell it off of you.” Alpha Cameron howled as he banged his fist hard on the table. “You need to spill what you know immediately.” “Calm down. There is a simple explanation to all this” sighed Leader Thomas. He swirled his glass around and gently placed it on the table. “Come on Wallace, I am much older than everyone in this room. I can assure you, I know, as well as Camilla, what truly happened in the human world.” I did not flinch or move. We all had our suspicions on what happened within the human world. Just like how the vampires came after the wolves to kill them, the humans intervened. Then the vampires created the witches and thus the wolves intervened. Then they all created this settlement for their offspring and Hybrids started to rise. A mix off all the blood, but ultimately only one bloodline had the power of vampires, wolves, witches, and some humans mixed within. Then the vampires started to kill the hybrid children and the wolves intervened. This settlement was born in the wolf territory. Alpha Cameron is the only one at this table that knows exactly who I am, and the small group that I have is all guardians. Guardians are wolves with special powers so they aided the king or queen, which is the Hybrid. At the time it was my grandmother who sat on that seat, my mother was supposed to sit there. The vampires came when I was only 2 years old. Killed everyone. My whole house and people. They killed them. The guardians had one job, protect the children. That means I was hidden within their house. They changed my name to Blade. Which is Lance’s house. The vampires that did all this were the originals that took off to another planet after this and in their ‘good faith’ let Thomas travel back and fourth as their ambassador. “Well, we all know that the witches and humans lived peacefully side-by-side” General Wallace took a sip of his water to try to catch his breath. “Well, we had a small set back years ago. We ended up blurring the lines and now we have abilities like witches, but we ended up more along the lines of a type of hybrid if you so wish to call it. So now, we are kind of dealing with that.” Camilla looked down at her cup as well when Wallace just blurted out that information. “You mean to tell me that the witch coven and the humans are together.” I stated with a blank expression on my face. “This means that the coven doesn’t have a pure line anymore? That now it is humans or humans with powers?” “That is correct. Some humans refuse to gain their abilities and consider themselves pure, like Wallace.” Camilla spoke softly. Her eyes glued down to the table avoiding any eye contact with the rest of the leaders. “So what of the witches of old?” Alpha Cameron’s eyes widened. “Surely their blood line is in you?” “They died out years ago and passed on their knowledge to a lot of the humans” Camila slowly met Alpha Cameron’s gaze. “With this knowledge, came a war that was not of human or witches, but of some other beast. Luckily the witches of old taught the humans to use the abilities of elements to defeat these beasts. Then we as a whole created a system in a broken world. No help from any of the leaders!” Her voice was raised. “Camilla, you will still have your spot on this table. Don’t worry.” Leader Thomas patted her hand. “Without you, your side wouldn’t be able to speak freely here.” “This is ancient land of the Hybrids that was destroyed by your kind. Don’t you forget that everyone knows what your kind has done to them.” I pointed to the empty seat. My family’s seat. “Why would you even do such a thing?” I lost it. I slammed my hand down as everyone looked up at me. My eyes stunned everyone in the room.
