Chapter Seventeen

“She wasn’t alone in here,” Samuel said. He was in the room before me. “Lucas was here and David. It leads out the window. There is a rogue scent over here,” he said as he walked back and forth in her room. I stood outside of the room, tears stinging my eyes. This was my fault, I shouldn’t have left her in Lucas’ hands. I should have known better. I wasn’t thinking. It was stupid. Lucas was not trust worthy. “Savannah.” I looked up to see Samuel looking down at me, “Should we follow her scent out the window?” he asked. “With a few others we shouldn’t be alone,” I said. Stupid. I just lost my sister. She could be dead for all I know. It was bad enough losing Aaron. Not Hannah. No. I will not let them hurt her. “Damon, Kade” I said to them and only them. “Yeah what’s up, Sav?” Kade asked. “Yeah?” Damon asked. “Come to Hannah’s room now,” I ordered. “Okay,” they said in unison. A few seconds later they appeared. I shut the door, hoping no one could hear. “Be quiet.” They looked confused, “Hannah is gone.” I waited for the shouting, but it never came. “What?” Kade whispered. He and Damon stood, eyes wide. “Yes, we found a trail that leads out the window.” I paused. Damon loves his dad but for the good of the pack and my sister, “A rogues scent my sisters and your dads” “No. He has nothing to do with it. You’re saying that because you don’t like him,” Damon growled. “No. I want my sister safe. I asked your dad to watch her.” “He was gone before we left. You couldn’t have.” I looked down, “I did. He said yes” “He must have told someone else to do it.” “I hope for your sake he did.” Damon started smelling the room. “David was here too” “David was probably checking on her,” I trust David, he should have been Beta. “You’re saying that because you like him.” “Arguing isn’t going to get Hannah back,” Kade said, interrupting us. “Your right. We should go look for her,” I said. I am not going to lose her. “If the rogues came here earlier, her scent should be fresh still,” Damon said as we all walked toward the window. I leaped out and they followed. “Her scent leads into the forest.” I stared at the forest. It seemed to get darker every second. “They could be planning an ambush.” “True and if they are and we lose, they would have the Alpha’s daughter and the future Alpha,” Damon said. “And if they’re not planning an ambush, that means Hannah is scared and alone and we’re too afraid to even try,” Kade croaked. Decisions, decisions. Why are they so hard? If we go into the woods, we could be walking into a trap, and if not, Hannah could be in danger, scared, and alone. I am not sure what to do, but I want Hannah. If they capture me it could be bad for my pack. They would use me against my father. “Were going in,” I decided. “She would do the same for us. She needs us right now.” “Okay, what’s your plan?” Samuel asked as he stepped beside me. If we go around and they are planning on attacking us they would be expecting that, but if we go straight, we could be in more danger. Again decisions. “We shouldn’t go straight in. Savannah that wouldn’t be a wise approach,” Damon spoke, as if he knew what I was thinking. “We should go around quietly.” I nodded. “We go together. No one leave’s each other’s side,” I said. “We don’t know how many rogues were up against.” I turned to face them. Samuel was still by my side. Damon and Kade nodded and we set off. Samuel was stuck to me like glue. If only I could talk to him. We followed her scent. I could smell the rogue,s but lost Lucas’ and Davids’ scent as we walked through the forest. It was too quiet. No crickets, no birds, nothing. It was creepy. I had grown up in these woods, but I don’t even recognize them now. I froze in my tracks. That scent so familiar. It couldn’t be. “What’s wrong?” Damon and Kade both shouted in my head. “That scent. It couldn’t be. There is no way,” I trailed off. “Aaron,” Kade said, his voice high. “It can’t be. He is dead.” “You never believed that.” I couldn’t control the anger that burned in my stomach. “Aaron was different.” I didn’t really know how to explain Aaron. He was special, very skilled, and quick on his feet. He would have made an amazing Alpha. “It’s impossible,” Kade snapped back. “Enough. Focus on the problem at hand,” Damon said. “Right,” I said, ignoring Aaron’s familiar scent and kept walking. Hannah’s scent became stronger and stronger. We were getting closer. Fowl smells entered my nostril. Rogues. A lot of rogues. The scent was making all of us tense. “What if they have scouts?” Kade asked. I picked my head up and smelled. We were downwind, “I don’t smell any and we are close to being out of our border,” I pointed out. They may be more confident now that they are in enemy land. We crossed out of our border. Hannah’s scent filled my nostrils. She was scared. I held back my growl that threatened to escape. “That was almost too easy,” a voice boomed. Must be one of those scoundrels. “The daughter of Erik Livington. What a pathetic excuse for an Alpha,” Another voice laughed. “Control yourself,” Damon shouted. He could see me shaking. “Their talking about my sister and father,” I said. “Yes, that means they have her. We need to get her,” Damon said. I hated to admit it, but he was right. We need to get her. We weren’t deep enough in the rogue’s territory to see Hannah, but her scent was strong. We continued sneaking around their camp. It was so weird how unguarded this place was. Soon I spotted her. She was hurt. Blood soaked her clothes; tears were rolling down her cheek. “How are we going to get her out? She is in the middle of the rogues territory,” Damon asked The centre of their territory was covered with rogues, they were looking at Hannah and laughing. How can people be so heartless. “Hannah, Hannah are you okay?” I forgot she could mind link with us now that she was a wolf. “Savannah,” she said then started to look for us. “Don’t look for us. Do exactly what you were doing before.” “Okay.” Her fear scent was strong. “Who took you here?” “I don’t know I was blind folded.” “Is there an opening anywhere where you could run to?” I asked. “Yes.” She looked over to where we were. “Close to where you guys are,” she said. I could tell she relaxed a little bit once she laid eyes on us. “When I say now, I want you to run for it then shift. You are going to have to run as fast as you can and not look back,” I instructed. The rogues must be dumb; she wasn’t tied up or anything. They were hardly even watching her. They must have figured she’d be too scared to go anywhere. Assumptions are bad. “Okay, Savannah,” she said. “Damon and Kade get ready to run.” I turned to Samuel, nodding my head toward Kade and Damon, who had turned around prepared to run. “Do you think you can run?” I asked, her arms and legs looked okay, but I didn’t know where the blood was from. “Yeah, I’m fine. Most of the blood isn’t mine.” I stepped sideways giving her enough room to run. I looked around at the rogues, they were talking a distance away from Hannah. “Now,” I yelled, she took off running. “Get her,” the rogues yelled, but Hannah was quick on her feet. She leapt into the air and shifted. Soon we were all running, with the rogues close to our tail. “Catch up to Damon and Kade,” I said. She nodded and sped up/ I was behind them, running with Samuel. I could hear the wolves behind us, they were getting closer. I looked over to where Samuel was and I met a pair of grey eyes staring at me. That’s not Samuel. Suddenly, I was knocked of my feet and slid across the ground before being pinned to the ground by a black wolf with grey eyes. Hard, cold grey eyes. I tried to get free, but his grip was too strong. A loud growl sounded. It was Samuel. He grabbed the black wolf and tore him off me; I stood while Samuel was tackled to the ground “Run,” Samuel yelled he was now in human form. “Savannah run.” I couldn’t leave him. My feet were frozen, I was frozen. “Run,” he yelled once more. A brown wolf started running my way. I dodged and bit his neck ,a loud snap and he stopped moving. “Run,” Samuel said. The rogues pinned him to the ground in his human form. “Move Savannah”. Damon’s voice sounded in my head as he pushed me and nipped at my heels. “We can’t just leave him,” I croaked “He wouldn’t have wanted you to get attacked either. He sacrificed himself to protect you,” Kade said. There were no more wolves chasing us; I heard Samuel screaming, he was in pain. His scream hurt. Each one felt like someone was stabbing me. I left him, I couldn’t get over that fact I left him. He wouldn’t have done the same, he didn’t, he saved me and I left him. We were now in our territory. Samuel’s screams echoed through my mind. “I can’t believe I left him. He saved me and I left him” I said growling. “He saved you so you could get away” Kade said. “If you hadn’t ru,n away he would have sacrificed himself for nothing.” “It doesn’t change the fact that I left him. He could be dead.” They chuckled. “What do you find so funny,” I yelled. “Relax. Thinking about what happened isn’t going to help you fight against the rogues,” Damon said. “You need your head in the game. If you’re thinking about something else it could very well be the death of you.” He was right, if I were to pause when we’re fighting the rogues it takes one second for them to kill me. “Were almost home,” Kade said, sighing. “Hannah,” My mum yelled, as she wrapped Hannah in a tight hug. Hannah hugged back and soon dad came out and hugged her too. He looked over at us. His facial expression was unreadable. “Where’s Samuel?” Dad asked. I was surprised he wasn’t ticked off. I looked down; tears began falling down my large, fluffy white cheeks. “Savannah,” dad said as he wrapped his arms around my neck. “We will get him back.” I stood as tears silently flowed down. Why did this have to happen to him? He was protecting me. “Mary, bring Hannah to the others please,” dad said. “Damon, get everyone on high aler.t” Damon nodded in response. “Kade go with him.” After they left my dad turned to me and said, “Go get some rest.” I nodded before walking up the stairs and to my bed. I shifted and put on whatever I first touched before laying on my bed hoping to fall asleep. I rolled back and forth. That’s where Samuel sleeps. I looked at the empty spot next to me. His scent filled my nose, it made me feel somewhat more peaceful. I rolled to his spot and took in his scent.
