“Gordon spotted a few earlier,” Damon’s annoying voice filled my head.
“He said they were by the river,” Kade said
I hated being teamed up with Damon and Kade. They fight over every little detail. It never ends.
“There’s are few now,” I spoke over them. We crouched down behind some bushes, making sure the rogues didn’t hear us.
“We should take them now, Kade circle around,” Damon said. Kade and I both looked at him. “What?”
“You don’t plan the attack, Savannah is in charge,” Kade growled.
“Fine. Plan it then.” Damon was getting angry
“We should circle around, but don’t attack until were all in position,” I ordered
“Okay, I’ll go this way and-“
“No. You and Kade go that way and I’ll go this way. There isn’t enough coverage for us both.” I cut him off.
He nodded at me and we started circling around the rogues, who were sniffing the ground.
“I’m in position,” Damon said.
“Me too,” Kade chimed in afterwards.
I was about to reply when someone poked me. I froze, sniffing the air. Samuel. I can’t talk to him. I looked at him and nodded my head in the direction of the rogues. I continued to my position with Samuel close behind me.
“Okay, I am in position, but Samuel is here”
“Who’s Samuel?” Crap, I forgot Damon didn’t know.
“A friend that will be joining the pack,” I said, which was half true.
“So a rogue. Someone we can’t communicate with. Great choice.”
“Shut it Damon and get ready to attack,” I snapped.
“Okay, when they go down to the ground, attack.” There were four wolves, all a dark greyish colour. We had been out here all night scouring our land for rogues and we finally found some. They were at the end of our boundary.
The larger grey coloured wolf sniffed the air. He shouldn’t be able to smell us. He turned to the smaller wolf that was beside him before putting his head to the ground again.
“Now,” I shouted, as I leaped from the bushes, trapping a grey wolf’s neck between my teeth. Seconds later I was knocked to the ground. I snapped at my attacker before he sunk his teeth in my leg. Pain shot through my body and I let out a howl. Samuel jumped on the wolf that attacked me. He pinned him to the ground and killed him. I got to my feet whimpering. The other wolves were already dead.
“Are you okay?” Kade asked.
“I’ll be fine. Just give me a few minutes for my leg to heal,” I said, wincing at Samuel’s licked my cut.
Damon let out a low growl, warning Samuel to back off. Samuel glared at him as he stood up next to me.
“Let’s go,” I sighed, as Damon walked to my other side.
“You can lean you weight on me if you need to,” Damon said. Why was he being nice to me? I hate him but, I did as he offered; Samuel growled and I growled back at him.
“How’s your leg now?” Damon asked. We were halfway home
“It’s almost fully healed,” I replied smiling.
“That’s good. I don’t think your dad will be happy about you coming home injured.”
“Probably not but even he can’t prevent it.” Dad told us to take a few other wolves with us, but I declined and said we would be fine. The other wolves should be watching our land elsewhere.
Samuel stuck to my side. I could tell he didn’t like Damon and I don’t blame him. Damon may be being nice right now, but he was still a self-centred jerk.
When we finally arrived home, my leg was fine and I was walking by myself.
“How did it go?” Lucas asked.
“Fine. We found some by the river,” Damon replied.
“How many?”
“Four, they’re dead now”
“Everyone go unscathed?”
“Yup. Were all fine” Damon lied. Wait. Damon Cross, the Beta’s son, just lied to his father. I was shocked. He was usually the tattle tale.
“Okay. Your father is out. He should be back soon. Go and get changed, all of you,” he ordered. I think he knew about Samuel to some extent.
We all nodded and walked inside. Samuel borrowed Kade’s clothes again. After I changed, I walked to the living room where everyone else was.
“Hey, are you okay?” Samuel asked. The wrinkles on his face are going to make him age faster than normal.
“Yeah, I’m fine” I looked at my arm. It looked normal, I even washed it to get that rogues scent off.
“Kade told me what happened. Are you okay?” Lily asked. Of course she would know. I glared at Kade and he returned a sheepish smile.
“Fine, but be quiet. No one knows,” I whispered. She nodded.
“Okay,” she said, pretending to zip her lips. She even threw the key. I laughed.
“You’re a dork.” She laughed along with me.
“Savannah,” dad growled my name. I whipped around to see him, he didn’t look pleased.
“Yes?” I asked. Why was he so angry?
“Come,” he said. I followed him to his office.
“What’s wrong dad?”
“You let Damon lie for you?”
“Sorry, I should have stopped h-“
“That’s not all. We have bigger issues than a pathetic lie,” he growled. “Hannah is gone. I told you to watch her.”
“What?” Hannah can’t be gone. “Lucas said he would watch her.”
“Lucas had other business to attend too.” Lucas came into my dad’s office.
“I don’t recall her asking me to baby-sit her little sister,” Lucas said. He’s lying, he said he would watch her.
I glared at him. “You said you would watch her while I checked the perimeters,” I shouted.
“Savannah,” my dad warned, “And that is my daughter Lucas”
“No, dad, I am sick of this. He is lying. He said he would watch her.” I started shaking; all the past anger for him started bubbling up.
“Lucas, did she asked you or not?” Dad asked.
“No, sir. I do not recall.” He looked at me. A smirk replaced his serious expression for a second. I knew he was lying. He was up to something.
“Leave, Lucas,” dad ordered. Lucas nodded and left. “I don’t believe your lying but I don’t think he is either.” I knew he was torn between his daughter and his beta. If you can’t trust your own beta, your pack has some major problems.
“Dad, you have to believe me. I want Hannah as far away from danger as I can,” I said, my voice breaking.
“We need to find her,” he said as he walked out.
No. This can’t be happening. If she was with the rogues, they will most likely kill her.
A strong pair of arm wrapped around me. I knew it was Samuel.
“We will find her,” he spoke softly.
“We have too,” I said. Tears threatened to escape. He must have over-heard.
“We can go to her room and sniff out her scent.”
That was actually a really good idea.
“Okay,” I said as we made our way to Hannah’s room. My stomach was in knots. We have to find her.
