Chapter Fifteen

1910 Words
I stepped out of the shower regretting, it. I was still chilly from our swim. Luckily, no one seemed to notice my absence. I let my hair down and slipped on my large hoodie. “You look nice,” Samuel said. “You’re still here?” I mentally kicked myself. Obviously, he was standing right in front of me. He chuckled, “Yeah, my clothes will dry.” I shook my head. “No, I’ll get something from Kade.” Before he could protest, I was raiding through Kade’s closet. I wonder what will look good on Samuel? I found a blue polo shirt with some weird designs and a dark pair of jeans, and then brought them back to Samuel. “Here, Kade won’t mind,” I chuckled. Kade would hate to be sharing with Samuel. “Okay,” he shrugged taking them from me and walked into the bathroom. He came out. He looked pretty cute. Resistance was futile, wasn’t it? “Hey Savannah,” Jason called. “My room,” I said. Samuel. “Oh crap,” I whispered just as Jason walked in. “Savannah I was wond-“ Everything became quiet. Samuel and Jason were glaring at each other; a low growl sounded from both of them. I groaned. How could have I been so stupid to put them together? They hate each other. Ugh, if I had only thought for one more second. “Enough, both of you. Samuel, Jason in my best friend. Jason, Samuel is my mate, in a way,” I said. I hadn’t yet accept him, so I didn’t really know what to call him. They were both crouched and growling. A loud growl sounded from downstairs. Everyone stopped to listen. “What was that about?” Jason asked. “I don’t know, but I will find out.” I smiled before dashing out of my bedroom. I walked downstairs and listened for the sound. It was coming from the back yard. I looked out of the window. Kade was standing in front of Lily. He was in human form and, a wolf I had never seen before, was standing across from him. They were glaring at each other. “Who’s that?” Samuel asked. I looked at Samuel, his brow furrowed, and his mouth was in a straight line. “I don’t know,” I whispered. And I have to find out. I raced outside and to Kade’s side. Jason and Samuel were right behind me. “What’s going on?” I growled. “A rogue,” he growled back, his eyes never leaving the enemy’s. The wolf was large. He was grey with large black markings. “He attacked Lily,” he said. I looked over at Lily, she was frozen in place, her eyes were large and she reeked with fear. “Kade, go in the house with Lily.” He didn’t move. “Now,” I growled. He slowly backed up, scooping Lily in his arms and walked in the house. I looked back over at the rogue. A loud growled rippled through my body. I could feel my wolf wanting to tear his throat out for daring to cross into my land. I held my position and clenched my hands. “Dad, we have a rogue.” Where was he when we needed him most? “Where?” His voice was high. “Backyard,” I phased, no longer able to stay in human form. “Savannah,” Samuel and Jason said in unison. Samuel stepped beside me, letting sandy coloured wolf make an appearance. I growled a warning, telling the wolf I wasn’t messing around. The rogue took a step closer. He dared to take a step? He was testing me. He took another step, followed my one more. A growl rumbled through Samuel’s body. I was planning an attack. I stepped sideways and he did the same. I’m going to have to re-think my strategy. I looked over at Samuel, who stepped closer to the wolf. The wolf glanced over at Samuel. Opportunity. I leaped at him, knocking him over. He jumped to his feet, snapping at me. I leaped to the side, avoiding his teeth and bit his shoulder, he howled in pain and I did the same when his teeth sunk into my shoulder. Instantly, the wolf was ripped from my grip; Samuel held the rogue by his throat. “Samuel, don’t kill him,” Jason shouted. Knowing that since he was my mate and the rogue hurt me, Samuel will want to kill him. A commanding howl rippled through the air. Daddy’s here. Samuel stiffened, but didn’t move. Dad walked over to Samuel, growling, telling him to move. He let the rogue go, then dad grabbed the back of the rogues neck and dragged him close to the house. I bet he wants to talk to him. The rogue was thrashing violently at my dad, but he kept missing. I walked to where dad was standing. “Hold onto him I will be right back,” dad ordered Lucas, who was here with his son. Lucas nodded and took over. They both must have phased and ran here. In seconds dad reappeared, fully clothed. He had extra clothes in his hand. He tossed them to the rogue. “Change now,” dad ordered. He may be a rogue, but an Alpha’s commanding voice was hard to ignore, especially with a pack as big as dad’s. The more wolves in a pack, the stronger the pack was and the more intimidating an Alpha’s commanding voice was. The rogue stared at my dad before phasing back and quickly changed. The rogue was young. He had short black hair. He had healed already from when I bit him and I was almost done healing. “What is your name?” Dad asked. “Cody Fairing.” Dad glared at him. “What were you doing here. Spy,” he shouted. “No sir,” the rogue shook his head back and forth. “I am not a part of the pack that is trying to attack you. I was fleeing from them.” He was good. I couldn’t tell if he was lying. “Tell me everything you know. Not here, inside.” Dad led him in with Damon, Lucas, and a few others, watching Cody. “Dad, don’t start until I’m there.” I said through our mind link. “Hurry,” he said. I ran off, phased back into my human form, changed, and then ran downstairs into the office. Once my dad saw me he turned to Cody. “What do you know about the rogues?” dad asked, his voice hard. He was holding back his wolf. “Not much, but I do know that the Alpha you battled with years ago is leading them.” Dad tensed. “What else?” he asked. “His group of rogues isn’t as big as you think they are. He wants revenge. Someone killed his mate in that war and ever since he has been collecting rogues to kill you,” he said, taking a deep breath. “They may not be large now, but they are gathering dozens by the hour.” “I see,” he paused. “We will be stepping up guarding our perimeters and no one, I mean no one, is to be alone,” dad ordered before he stood. “Why did you come to my land?” “They were chasing me. They force rogues by taking their mates or by threatening to take their life. I came here to warn you and join you.” Cody looked down. “There’s no way you can let that rogue join us,” Lucas snarled. “We need him close. He could be playing us.” Father shifted into mind link. “It does not matter, what if he does find out information about us?” Lucas asked. “If we find out more information from him, we don’t have to let him join our pack.” Dad said before adding, “That decision is mine to make.” Lucas growled, making Cody jump. Dad let out a warning growl to Lucas, causing him to step back. At least he knows his place. Dad turned his attention back to Cody. “Why do you all of a sudden want to join my pack?” “I am sick of being alone and vulnerable, I want somewhere to call my home and to feel safe. The rogue pack were threatening my life and they already killed my brother because he refused to join.” He was good. “I apologize for stepping over my boundaries and for that girl,” he said. I almost forgot about Lily. “Girl?” he questioned. “I went for a girl. She is mated, but not marked.” Some werewolves have such a powerful bond with another that it was noticeable, but with Lily she and Kade must have a strong bond or else he wouldn’t know about it. “I couldn’t stop myself” He glanced over at me, “Sorry.” “Lucas, Savannah, come with me,” dad spoke as he and mum went deeper into the office. They went to the more private room, the soundproof room. There was a long pause before dad faced Lucas and I. “What do you think Savannah?” He was testing my judgment, I had to say something worthy, something an Alpha would say. “If he is lying he is very good, but I don’t trust him. He could be up to something,” I said, my dad nodded. “I agree. I.f we do keep him close we may be able to find out more information about the rogues. Also, if we kick him out we may never find information” He could mean kick out in two ways: kill or chase out of our land. “He deserves nothing,” Lucas snarled. “He thinks he can come here acting innocent and want to join our pack. He could easily double cross us. It takes one of us to trust him and all our information could be spilled.” Lucas looked at me. How dare he accuse me of doing something so stupid? I would never tell information to others, I don’t even tell Jason. I growled at him. “Savannah, this is not the time for that,” dad said. “We need to keep him under watch until we know he isn’t a part of the rogue group.” Lucas and I both nodded before we all headed back to the rest of the group. “Take him. We will watch him,” dad spoke to David, Damon, and Gordon. They nodded and took Cody away. “We need to plan our attack,” dad said. Silence filled the room and eyes refused to meet one another. No one wanted it to come down to this.
