Lyra’s POV
The moment Damon stepped inside, the air shifted.
“Kael leaves you alone,” he said softly, almost like a lover’s whisper. “And here you are… waiting for me.”
I backed away until my spine hit the wall. “Stay away, Damon.”
His eyes glowed crimson. “You say that, but your blood calls me. You feel it, don’t you? The pull.”
---
Lumapit siya, mabagal ngunit mapanganib, na parang isang mabangis na hayop na nagbabantang sumunggab. Ang kanyang tinig ay nakakaakit, mapanganib, parang musika na unti-unting pumapasok sa aking isip.
“Kael wants to cage you,” he murmured. “But me? I’ll set you free. You don’t belong in chains, Lyra. You belong in fire.”
My chest heaved. The bond between us tugged, darker and heavier than with Kael. It terrified me how part of me wanted to step closer, to feel the danger.
“No,” bulong ko, pilit na nilalabanan ang hatak. “I am not yours.”
---
Bigla niyang hinawakan ang aking braso, mahigpit ngunit hindi pa nananakit. Ang init ng kanyang palad ay parang lason, umaakyat sa aking ugat.
“Not yet,” he corrected. “But you will be.”
I struggled, pushing against him, but he was stronger. My wolf clawed inside me, furious. And then—
Something snapped.
---
A surge of power erupted from within, blue flames bursting from my skin. Damon was thrown back, crashing into the door. My body convulsed, my vision blurring as bones shifted, muscles tore, and fur of midnight black ignited with glowing blue fire.
I screamed, but it was no longer a human voice. It was a wolf’s roar—wild, raw, unstoppable.
---
The chamber trembled. Curtains burst into flames, stone cracked under my paws. My reflection on the broken mirror showed a wolf unlike any other—taller, fiercer, eyes glowing sapphire, fur flickering with blue fire.
Damon rose, blood dripping from his lip, but instead of fear, his grin widened.
“Magnificent,” he breathed. “The Moonfire Wolf.”
He licked the blood from his mouth, eyes glinting with obsession. “You’re perfect, Lyra. You’re not Kael’s mate—you’re my queen.”
---
I lunged at him with a snarl. Flames trailed behind me as my claws slashed the air. Damon barely dodged, though the fire singed his skin. He laughed—laughed—as though my rage only excited him.
“Yes! That’s it! Let it consume you!”
I roared again, my fire catching the wooden beams above. The heat suffocated the room. My own power frightened me—I couldn’t stop it. Every heartbeat sent more flames surging out.
---
Damon lunged back, pinning me against the wall. His strength matched mine, his fangs dangerously close to my neck.
“Feel this,” he growled. “This is who you are. Not his little mate. You are chaos, fire, destruction. And with me, you’ll never need to hide it.”
My wolf thrashed, torn between fury and something darker. For one terrifying second, I almost believed him.
---
Then the door exploded.
Kael stormed in, golden eyes blazing, his wolf aura flooding the chamber. His gaze locked on me—and froze.
“Lyra…” His voice cracked.
I saw myself through his eyes: a blazing wolf of fire, dangerous and untamed, ready to burn everything to ash.
For the first time, Kael looked afraid of me.
---
Damon smirked, not letting go. “See, brother? Even you fear her. But I don’t. I’ll take what you can’t handle.”
Kael growled, his wolf surging to the surface. “Let. Her. Go.”
Damon’s grip tightened on my burning fur. “She’s choosing, Kael. Can’t you see? She was made for me.”
The flames roared higher, consuming half the chamber. I couldn’t control it. My body trembled, torn between Kael’s steady bond and Damon’s suffocating pull.
Then I let out a scream—wolf and fire merging in one violent burst. Damon was thrown back once more, crashing into the hall.
And I collapsed, flames flickering out, my body shifting halfway back into human form.
---
Kael caught me before I hit the ground. His arms burned from my heat, but he didn’t let go. He held me tight, murmuring against my hair.
“I’ve got you. I’m here. Don’t let him take you.”
My tears mixed with soot. “Kael… I can’t control it. I’m a monster.”
He cupped my face, forcing me to meet his eyes. “No. You’re mine. And I’ll never let your fire destroy you.”
Behind him, Damon’s laughter echoed, dark and triumphant.
“This is only the beginning, Lyra,” he promised, retreating into the shadows. “Soon, you’ll realize the truth—your fire was never meant to save. It was meant to burn.”
And then he was gone.
---
Kael tightened his hold on me, his heartbeat thunderous against my cheek.
But his silence told me everything.
Even he wasn’t sure if Damon was right.
