Chapter 4

Lyra’s POV The moment Damon stepped into the Council hall, the air thickened with fear and fury. His crimson eyes glowed, a wicked grin spreading across his face as if he owned the place. “Guards!” sigaw ng isang elder, nanginginig. Ngunit huli na. Sa isang iglap, tatlong warrior ang sumugod kay Damon, ngunit lahat sila’y tinapon niya na parang mga laruan. Isa sa kanila’y tumama sa pader, nawalan agad ng malay. “Pathetic,” he sneered. Kael growled, deep and threatening, ang kanyang boses umalingawngaw sa buong bulwagan. Ang kanyang katawan’y kumislap ng liwanag, and in the blink of an eye, he shifted into his massive white wolf. The ground shook as he landed, baring his teeth. I froze, torn between awe and terror. Kael’s wolf was magnificent—snow-white fur, golden eyes burning with primal rage. Pero si Damon ay hindi nagpatalo. Sa isang kisapmata, siya man ay nag-shift. His wolf was dark as blood, massive, with glowing crimson eyes that seemed to pierce straight through my soul. The two Alphas clashed. --- The sound of bone against bone, fang against fang, filled the chamber. Blood sprayed across the floor as they tore into each other, neither giving an inch. Kael lunged, biting Damon’s shoulder, but Damon twisted, claws raking deep into Kael’s side. “Stop!” sigaw ko, kahit alam kong walang makikinig. Ang mga elder ay nagsisigawan, ang iba’y nagtatago, ngunit walang sinuman ang makalapit. This wasn’t just a fight—it was a war for dominance. And somehow, I knew… I was the prize. --- My wolf scratched at my skin, desperate to be free. Let me out, Lyra. They’re fighting for us. “No,” bulong ko, nanginginig. “If I shift now…” I didn’t want to think of what would happen. The last time I gave in fully, blood soaked the forest floor. Pero habang tinitingnan ko si Kael, habang nakikita ko ang dugo sa kanyang puting balahibo, something inside me cracked. I couldn’t lose him. --- “ENOUGH!” The word ripped from my throat, but it wasn’t just a scream. It was a command laced with raw power. My vision blurred, the air itself shuddered, and for a heartbeat—both Kael and Damon froze. Their wolves turned to me. The chamber fell into silence. Everyone stared, stunned. My body shook as blue fire flickered in my eyes, my wolf half-breaking free. “What… are you?” an elder whispered in horror. Damon’s wolf form shifted back into human. Wounded but grinning, he licked the blood from his lips, his crimson eyes never leaving me. “Exactly what the prophecy said,” he murmured. “The rogue with the moon’s fire.” Kael shifted back too, his body glistening with sweat and blood. Despite his wounds, he strode toward me, towering and furious. “You will not touch her,” he snarled at Damon, voice sharp as steel. “She’s mine.” Damon chuckled darkly. “We’ll see about that.” Then, as suddenly as he arrived, he leapt back into the shadows, vanishing before anyone could stop him. --- The hall erupted into chaos. Guards scrambled, elders shouted, and whispers filled the air. But all I could feel was Kael’s presence as he reached me, his bloodied hand gripping my arm. “You will stay by my side,” he growled, his eyes burning into mine. “Do you hear me, Lyra? No matter what happens, you belong to me.” “I don’t belong to anyone!” balik ko, my voice shaking. His grip tightened. “Then why did you stop us? Why did you call on that power? You could have let him kill me, but you didn’t.” I opened my mouth, but no words came out. Because deep down… he was right. --- He didn’t wait for my answer. Instead, he pulled me out of the Council hall, ignoring the protests of the elders. Dinala niya ako sa kanyang private chamber—malaki, madilim, at mabangis na parang siya mismo. Pagkasarado ng pinto, iniharap niya ako sa kanya. “Why, Lyra?” bulong niya, his chest heaving. “Why save me if you hate me so much?” “I don’t hate you,” I whispered before I could stop myself. “I hate what you’re trying to make me.” His golden eyes softened, just for a moment, then darkened again. Slowly, he stepped closer, his body heat overwhelming. I tried to step back, but he trapped me against the wall, his hand braced beside my head. “You are mine,” he said, low, husky. “And every time you deny it, I want you more.” “Kael…” my voice trembled, but not with fear. My body betrayed me, leaning into his heat, craving his touch. He tilted my chin up with his fingers, forcing me to look into his burning eyes. “Tell me you don’t feel it. Tell me you don’t want me, and I’ll let you go.” My lips parted, but nothing came out. The bond between us thrummed like fire under my skin, pulling me toward him. “Damn it,” I breathed, and before I knew it, his mouth crashed against mine. --- The kiss was fire—hungry, consuming, dangerous. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me flush against his body. I could feel every inch of him, hard and demanding. My own hands betrayed me, clutching at his shoulders, pulling him closer. A growl rumbled from his chest as his lips trailed down my neck, teeth grazing my skin. My breath hitched, my knees weak. “You’re mine, Lyra,” he murmured against my throat. “Say it.” I gasped, torn between resisting and surrendering. The rational part of me screamed to push him away. But my wolf purred, whispering, Yes. Ours. --- “Stop fighting me,” Kael growled, his hands sliding down my sides. “Every part of you knows the truth.” I swallowed hard, heart racing. “And what if I don’t want this destiny?” He pulled back just enough to meet my eyes, his gaze intense. “Then we’ll burn together. But I will never let you go.” And in that moment, as much as I wanted to deny it, I knew one thing was true. I was already his.
