Tears of an Immortal

Lucifer looked down the broken part of the bridge, the fall was very deep. He looked around trying to find another way. It was then he saw a familiar Dark haired angel wielding ‘his’ sword, putting Lucifer on edge. But to his surprise, Azazel flew straight ahead, totally ignoring Lucifer. A chill went down his back when he noticed where the angel was heading to. It hit Lucifer hard when he realized that this was what they had planned all along. In panic, the blond was about to try and jump across the gap in desperation. That was until a voice he didn’t want to hear at the moment growl behind him, “Going somewhere, Late General?” The fallen was violently shoved down the broken bridge and was free falling with Victor trying to strangle him in mid air. Lucifer kneed the angel causing the Major to recoil and loosen his grip. Bring his knee up to his chest, Lucifer Spartan kicked Victor so hard that the angel was sent spiralling away in air, also making Lucifer move in the opposite direction. Quickly the fallen angled his body to control his fall. These were one of those times when he regretted not having a proper set of wings. Luckily, the Vorken city was layered and Lucifer had no shortage of buildings below him. He used his one wing to push his body towards one such structure and soon he found himself on top of the roof without sustaining much damage. He may have survived but he had no time to celebrate, he had to get back to Luna once he dealt with Victor who probably already gained his bearing and was making his way back for more with more fury. Lucifer was not disappointed.                                                                                        ---X--- Luna could hear sounds of fighting behind her but she didn’t stop. She knew her Luci could handle anything the angel bastards could possibly throw at him. Now her primary objective was to keep her flock safe. Rose’s condition worried Luna. Whatever the angels did to her had affected her far too much, making Luna much more concerned for her well being. She could only hope that they would reach this safe place Zoya was talking about. “We gotta hurry! There is a sewer ahead that will lead us out of the city!” the young girl cried running up ahead. But all of a sudden a huge sword got embedded on the path before them. The three stopped on their tracks as a sinister voice smirked, “Hello Ladies.” Someone dropped from above and landed besides the sword. When the dust cleared Luna’s eyes widened, it was Azazel, the one whom they didn’t want to meet right now. Coolly he picked up the Sorrow breaker and twirled it in his hand before resting it on his shoulder, “Pardon me but this game ends here.” Luna narrowed her eyes dangerously at him. Lucifer was not with them right now and Rose was in no condition to fight. The phoenix had no choice now. “Zoya, take Rose to safety.” She spoke and let Rose off her back. Zoya came and supported Rose as she could barely stand up on her wobbly feet. The Vorken child led the Demon away. Rose did however turn to Luna and said, “Be careful.” Luna flashed one of her contagious smile and nodded. Putting on a serious face Luna coated her body in fire. Lucifer may not be there, but that didn’t mean she was helpless.                                                                                    ---X--- Victor was little dazed by Lucifer’s Spartan kick but he had recovered quickly. He spotted Lucifer on the roof of a building and made his way towards him. The two warriors looked each other in the eyes and glared. The major’s men gathered around him, asking permission to engage the target, which he denied. Sending the bulk at Lucifer would be suicide as he could not doubt take them down easily, so instead Victor ordered his men to spread out and slowly surround the Fallen. Lucifer was still trying to find a way to even the odds. But with his weapon lacking range to deliver enough damage from that distance he was at a major disadvantage and frankly, the roof top wasn’t exactly a good place to fight. Too little space and he could clearly see the angels were trying to surround him and he couldn’t do anything about it. He had to get out of there. The blond looked around to find a more preferable battle ground. His eyes fell on an empty dock a few of buildings away from his position. “Perfect.” He muttered. He made a last eye contact with Victor. Without a warning he made a run for it.                                                                                        ---X--- Luna narrowly avoided another s***h form Azazel. The two had been battling for a while now and Azazel was slowly gaining on her.  “Raaah!” the angel roared smashing his sword on the place where Luna was standing. She jumped away and released a Phoenix Hurricane at him. The angel deflected the attacks with his sword and was already on to her. She ducked under the swing of his sword but wasn’t ready for the round house kick that followed after. The armoured boot packed a nasty kick, sending her soaring in the air till she skidded to stop on the road with a nasty cut on her forehead. A bit dazed she stood up and prepared herself. She was far from over and a determined grin spread across her face. “My, you’re a tough little bird, aren’t you?” The dark haired angel spoke in an amused tone. “So you’re just gonna stay there and talk, Azzy?” Luna taunted. The captain didn’t take the mock kindly and charged head on. The fight shifted to Azazel’s favour once again as he attacked relentlessly, giving Luna very little time to breath. The Captain was far more experienced than her and he specialized in close combat, while Luna was more of a ranged fighter so clearly she was fighting past her comfort zone and it was a miracle that Luna was still able to hold herself till now. Azazel swung his sword, but he got cocky and his swing got too wide and leaving him open. Luna seized this opportunity, using her powers to coat her feet in red hot flames. She yelled, “Take this, Phoenix Claws!” in an  excellent display of martial arts, Luna hit the Angel with a flaming round house kick which contact directly with his helmet covered head. The attack was powerful and the fire was hot enough to destroy the helmet and burnt half of Azazel’s face. “Ahhh!” he roared in pain. He held his face trying to soothe the burning sensation but it didn’t stop the pain. Azazel shook with barely controlled rage; he slowly turned towards the person who caused him pain. His face was half charred; his teeth gritted in unbridled rage, he growled, “You will pay for this.” Without a warning, Luna had the air knocked out of her lungs as Azazel punched her in the gut, “YOU WILL f*****g PAY FOR THIS!” he roared. The red head gasped deeply, trying to get a hold of herself but Azazel would not have any of it. In his rage, he disregarded Sorrow Breaker and instead chose to use his very hands to beat her up. Azazel roared in satisfaction to see the Phoenix beaten and downed. Zoya who had dragged Rose away into an alley couldn’t help but tear up after seeing such a brutal and cruel display. Luna weakly looked up at Azazel who now had his sword held high, preparing to finish her off. Yet even in the face of death, fear was not in her eyes. She grinned widely in defiance, angering the disfigured angel even more. “Die!” he roared bring the sword down. Then a miracle happened. Metal clashed with metal and the sword was stopped in its track with a Maya enhanced shield. A new hope ignited in the hearts of everyone when they saw the one who saved Luna. Gabriel had arrived. The young angel unfolded his mace and swatted the older angel away, who couldn’t react because he was too shocked. Luna coughed and grinned, “What took you so long Gabe?” Gabriel narrowed his eyes at the silly nickname but still helped the Phoenix up, who winched in pain as she stood up. Their opponent looked at Gabriel with astonished expression, “Private? What the hell are you doing?” Gabriel cracked his neck and spoke calmly, “Beating up a defenceless woman. That’s low…..even for you ‘Captain’.” “Yaah!” shout Luna standing beside him. Azazel glared, “Don’t be a fool! Do you even realize what you are doing?” The red haired angel shrugged, “Well I have my reasons. Both honour bound and personal.” With that he got into a battle stance along with Luna who took her Martial arts stance. The captain hissed dangerously, “This is treason.” “I know.” And so a new round began.                                                                                          ---X--- With a barrage of Maya blasts threatening to fill him with holes like cheese, Lucifer jumped off the edge of the roof and landed on the roof of another building. The angels probably didn’t expect Lucifer to take such a reckless measure to get away and now they desperately tried to gun him down. Wasting no time he ran forward and did the same jump on couple of more buildings in a fine display of parkour. The angels realized that trying to hit Lucifer was useless as the blond would deflect it anyways. So instead they targeted buildings. Victor again summoned his spear Extension and used it to destroy the base of the building Lucifer had just jumped on. This did slow down Lucifer as he now had to put more effort to stabilize his footing as the whole building tilted forward. Acting quickly, he jumped on to the next building, only for the structure to share the same fate. It was like a row of dominos falling on each other, just instead of little domino blocks, they were huge buildings falling on each other with Lucifer free running from one building to the other trying to avoid being buried under the falling structures. He jumped off the previous building, but the building before him was taller and he had to cross his hands to shield his face as he crashed through one of the building’s window and into a strange apartment. Lucifer cursed, for he really wanted to land on its roof. He felt the whole building tremble and it was clear that this building was falling as well. As the building started to fall forward, the room started to tilt forward till the point Lucifer could no longer stand straight as the inclination was too low. He had to climb back out of the window and on to the side of the building where he could stand as it was now straight due to the building’s tilted position. It was then he realized that this building was the last building in the row, meaning he had no place to run. But all things weren’t as bad as Lucifer saw that he had nearly made it to the docks with only a hundred metre wide gap between him and the dock. So Lucifer had no other choice but to try and make a direct jump from the falling building to the Docks. Lucifer shrugged tiredly and dashed alongside the building as it gradually descended further and further downwards. He was literally running out of building as he reached the edge. No time or way to turn back, he mustered up his strength and leaped off the edge with a mighty yell, “Hyaaaaah!” Fortunately for the Fallen, the docks was in a much lower position and due to the fact that his jump was initiated from a much higher position, the trajectory carried his jump much more further. But that didn’t make his landing was any better. He fell leg first but because the extra momentum his body possessed, he was comically sent tumbling a couple of times before he came to stop. The blond groaned and stood up slowly. He dusting himself, Lucifer looked around. His plan worked! He was on the Docking platform. A wide open ground, just what he needed to force the Immortals into a close combat. So he readied himself as the Angels were in his eyesight.                                                                                                               ---X--- Even with Gabriel on her side, Luna had to be careful with the Sorrow breaker wielding Immortal. Gabriel raised his shield and spoke to Luna, “Phoenix, take the air.” Although Luna didn’t like how he addressed her, she complied immediately. Turning into her Phoenix form, she soared through the air. Azazel had his focus on the airborne Brutum expecting an attack. But that was a mistake on his part as Gabriel closed in for an attack. “Don’t take your eyes off your opponent!” he yelled executing a mighty swing with his mace. Azazel had to parry this attack with his sword. This was the exact moment Luna utilized to attack him from behind. Her wings caught fire as she striked him like a blazing spear. The captain reared back in pain and was now unable to avoid a shield bash from Gabriel. Ganged up by a former comrade who hit very hard and a Phoenix who used hit and run technique, things were looking bad for Azazel. He had to find a way to take care of them individually or else he would perish. With a new plan in his mind, Azazel suddenly unfolded his wings and took to the sky as well. Gabriel and Luna frowned at this, “What’s he doing?”                                                                                         ---X--- With Lucifer now out in the open, he had no place to run. The angels had him surrounded. Now all that remained for them was to take him down. Knowing ranged attacks were useless against him, the angels, whose numbers were about fifteen, charged together. Thinking their number would be a sufficient advantage against him. Boy they underestimated the Late General. Avoiding an attack, Lucifer punched his attacker hard enough to break his chest armour. Turning around, he caught the arm of the other angel who was trying to stab him in the back and squeezed hard enough to break the gauntlet and possibly the wrist as well. The angel had no time to scream as he was skewered by two angel swords, which were meant for Lucifer but he had cunningly brought the injured angel before him to take the blow instead. The two assailants were in shock as they had unintentionally killed their own comrade but couldn’t ponder much about it as Lucifer emptied two rounds inside their head. Killing them instantly and their bodies faded away into oblivion. Hearing a roar, Lucifer had to unfold his wing to block a sword attack from yet another angel who chose a brash head on attack out of both rage and desperation. With experience gained from countless battles, Lucifer easily avoided the attacks from the screaming angel. That was until Lucifer grabbed the angel literally by his freaking face. Thoroughly utilizing his super strength, Lucifer forcefully shoved the angel to the ground. A quick jab to the face and the angel was no longer a problem. He slowly stood up while dusting himself and turned towards the remaining angels. They seemed nervous now, yet were determined to complete their objective. Unfortunately, so was Lucifer. Major Victor was still afar, observing how Lucifer annihilated his men. Time had not tarnished his skills. He was still a monster in the battle field. His men were barely able to hold their ground against the ancient Fallen Angel. But he did notice that Lucifer was a bit sloppy now and then. Such mistake could be easily gone unnoticed by untrained eyes but Victor saw it clearly. Without his sword, Lucifer was only three-forth of his real potential. Not such a great margin but this might just be what he needed. Lucifer breathed heavily. The angels lay either dead or broken around him. He held his sore neck for a while. Having constantly fighting for so long was starting to take a toll on him. You can say he was getting rusty and he decided that he will have to change that if he ever got out of this situation alive. So engrossed he was in his thoughts that he nearly missed a spear coming his way. Lucifer stepped away in time but the weapon did gaze his shoulder and a deep cut was left. Lucifer merely grunted at this and looked at his new opponent. It was Major Victor himself. The golden winged angel dropped on the platform in a badass super hero landing, making Lucifer miss the times when he used to do that as well. The Major held up his hand and the spear flew back towards its owner’s hand. Wordlessly, Victor took a battle stance. Getting the message, Lucifer readied his Boom stick.                                                                                       ---X--- Fighting the Dark haired Angel on ground was hard. But taking him on in air proved to be even worse. Azazel was much more skilled in areal-combat then Gabriel and Luna was still getting used to her new Phoenix form. Luna launched a Phoenix Hurricane at Azazel using violent swipes of her wings. But Azazel easily avoided it. Gabriel tried a more up close and personal approach but was equally fruit less. Hearing an explosion nearby, Luna looked towards it in response. What she saw stunned her. In the docks far away, she could make out her friend Lucifer engaged in combat with the Golden winged angel and for the first time the battle was not in the blonde’s favour. Victor was no small fry. He was much more experienced and seasoned than anyone they had faced till now and if it wasn’t for Lucifer’s own prowess, he would’ve been dead within moments. But his experience could only hold so long. Unarmed, he couldn’t just land a crippling hit on Victor. And to add salt to the wound, days of constantly battling was starting to take a toll on him. When Lucifer got a direct hit form the Major’s spear, Luna couldn’t help but cry out, “LUCI!” “You shouldn’t take your eyes off your opponent.” smirked a voice dangerously close behind her. Luna had no time to react properly when she was slashed at her back by Azazel, who mockingly repeated the same words Gabriel had said to him. The Phoenix was sent crushing down into building. Her body hurt everywhere, especially her back. Still she was actually very lucky that Azazel’s attack only left a deep cut on her back and not cleave her into two halves. The Half faced Angel hovered over her downed and now reverted form and smiled cruelly, “Got you now little bird.” Gabriel roared and charged from behind, but Azazel was expecting this and caught him by his neck, “That will not work twice, Private.” Azazel brutally threw him on the roof besides Luna. Lying down with his face down, the young angel tried to push himself up but Azazel landed beside him and stepped on Gabriel’s head, forcing the young paladin down. “You know, I never liked you.” Admitted Azazel and stepped harder, making Gabriel let out a pained yowl.  “GET AWAY FROM HIM!” Luna roared and jumped on him with her fists ablaze. Azazel easily stopped her advance and held her up by her hair, earning a yelp of pain. “My-my. You sure are a fiery little bird. Just don’t know when to settle down…. Just like that friend of yours.” Azazel motioned towards the fight on the far away docks. Luna’s eyes widened to see in what condition Lucifer was in .Wounded and tired, he was on his knee before a heavily damaged Victor. Never had she seen Lucifer beaten before, it brought her to tears. “Have to give it to the old man. He was able to do a number on the Major even without this sword.” Azazel twirled the Sorrow breaker in his hand, “I wonder outcome would be if he had this sword. Guess we’ll never find out.” Azazel spoke cruelly. He held Luna’s hair tighter and brought her at his eyes level. Luna glared looking directly in Azazel’s eyes which shared the same blue colour like Lucifer, yet didn’t hold the same warmth which she had grown accustomed to. “You know, you really are quite a useful pet…Perhaps I can keep you after the Major is done with the traitor. Hmm?” he suggested with a sick smile. Having enough of his bullshit, Luna spit on his face as an answer. Un-amused, Azazel wiped the spit off his face and growled, “So be it.” All this time, Rose could only watch helplessly from a distance as Azazel prepared to finish off both Luna and Gabriel. It filled her with a kind of pain she never felt before. She was unsure why. Was it because it was her fault? Maybe, but she never asked them to save her life. Yet still they came for her. Why? Was it just to repay their debt? Or was it something much deeper. It confused Rose, but then Luna’s words replayed in her head. “We are friends right?” The word ‘friend’ replayed in her mind over and over again. She never had a friend. Team mates, comrades and mentors, yes but never a friend. She didn’t know how it felt to have a friend, and till now she didn’t care either, yet still the Bubbly Phoenix called her a friend. She even risked her own life for her without a thought. It finally dawned on Rose.  She had a friend. Her first real friend. And that friend was in grave danger before her very eyes and she couldn’t do a thing. It made her angry. It filled her with despair and sorrow like never before and it hurt. A single tear trailed down the eye of the immortal demon. She wished she could do something. She wished she could help. She wished her body was strong enough. She wished her friends were safe. Slowly, holding on to the wall, she stood up even when her body was screaming in protest. Zoya voiced her concern as well, telling her to get down, but Rose didn’t listen. She wished her friends to be safe. She wanted her friends safe. Then a tiny voice spoke within her. It was faint but powerful and it said just one thing. SHE DEMANDED HER FRIENDS SAFE! The area around Rose trembled slightly. Her will was growing stronger by each second. The masked woman stood tall on her wobbling feet as her body released Maya surges by the sheer force of her will. This pulled the attention of all three of them. Azazel was shell shocked, “Impossible! We had drained every ounce of Maya form her body! What is this power?” While Luna and Gabriel were mesmerized by the Bright purple aura surrounding the demon girl. Rose balled her fist and glared at the cruel monster that was Azazel, “DON’T. HURT. MY. FRIENDS!” Using all her new found Maya, Rose prepared a technique very similar to her Healing Maya, but it seemed different for it was far denser and concentrated. With a yell, she shot the over charged Healing Maya towards the three. Azazel shielded himself, thinking it was an attack, but instead of dealing damage, the Maya moved towards Luna and Gabriel, healing them till they were as good as new. In fact, they felt stronger then before! Rose collapsed back to the ground where Zoya helped her but her deed was done and she held a satisfied smile on her face. (Which was traceable behind that tight mask of her.) Now with a new found strength, Gabriel forcefully pushed himself up, causing Azazel to lose his footing. “How?” gaped Azazel but Gabriel smacked him with his mace as an answer .Soon Gabriel executed a relentless combo. Azazel tried to keep up with him but suddenly, Gabriel was much stronger and faster.  “How is this possible!” the Captain roared in disbelief. Gabriel jumped up to him and shield bashed him with such force that he was nearly sent tumbling down the building. Luna quickly positioned herself right. Once in the right place, she yelled at the top of her voice, “LUCI!” it confused everyone. But none could question her as the temperature around them sky rocketed at an alarming rate. Fire grew around Luna and instead of her usual golden flames, this one was White hot. Rose’s powers had enhanced her capabilities far too well. Luna let out a yell and used her most powerful attack, Phoenix tears. Gabriel had seen this attack before and knew its capabilities before hand when Luna used it to destroy Five Cleanser turrets single handedly. But this one was even more powerful. A Giant stream of white hot flames ejected out of the mark on her forehead. These flames were ten times more powerful than her old Phoenix tears and thus were as hot as the sun itself. Azazel was no match against such an attack as awesome as this. It blasted him away and even his screams were muffled by the fire. Soon the stream stopped and Luna dropped to her knee panting. Gabriel was shocked and amazed by such a devastating power. It destroyed everything in its path, hell he could even see black smoke coming from a far off mountain that lack a good chunk of its tip. Luna scratched her cheek bashfully at this, “Guess I over did it.” With that she fell back on the ground. Maya fatigue taking its toll as that attack literally sapped out all of her Maya. Now all she hoped for was Lucifer’s safety.                                                                                            ---X--- Lucifer fell on his knee breathing heavily. His opponent was a good distance ahead of him, heavily damaged but in a better condition than he was in. Victor too was wounded. Even without his weapon, Lucifer was still very hard to take down. As expected from the Late General. “Who taught you, Boy? You’re better than most of the grunts I fight.” asked Lucifer. “General Raphael was my mentor.” Victor replied. “Raphael’s the General? I always knew that kid would go far.” Added Lucifer with genuine fondness. This made Victor feel even more guilty.  “This didn’t have to be this way, Late General. But it’s too late now.” Victor spoke solemnly. Lucifer nodded as the Major readied his spear. Out of the Blue, Lucifer heard a faint yell, “LUCI!” confusing both of them. Then both were baffled as a Giant Stream of White Hot flames passed over the docks. “What the hell are you doing, Kid?” Lucifer muttered lowly. Then to their surprise, they saw Azazel’s charred body soaring through the sky, as if thrown by a great force. But what caught their attention was the glimmer of something falling towards them. Victor’s eyes widened in terror while Lucifer’s eyes widened in joy. It was a sword, not just any sword but the Sorrow Breaker. “No!” yelled Victor trying to finish off Lucifer before he got the sword. Victor roared and threw his extended spear while Lucifer jumped towards his sword. Victor held his breath as the spear travelled fast, his aim true as it made its way to its target, trough Lucifer’s back. But, fate smiled on the blond this time. His hand wrapped around his long lost sword. That’s the only thing the Major saw before Lucifer made a twirling motion so fast that Victor couldn’t follow, effectively parrying the ethereal spear with a visible shock wave…..without even turning. Victor’s jaw almost dropped to the ground. It was just too unbelievable. Lucifer ran his hand across the sword affectionately, “I owe you one, Kid.” He smiled, knowing exactly who sent the sword his way. “So ready for round two?” the blond spoke, his back still facing Victor. The major recalled his spear and executed a dash attack. Lucifer may have got his sword but he was still winded so Victor believed he still had a chance. But Lucifer merely unfolded his wing and blocked the attack. Slowly he turned and faced the spear wielder. Victor felt very anxious seeing that Lucifer now had the glint in his eyes that wasn’t seen in eons. The glint he had when he would play with his prey. Victor quickly moved back, expecting a counter attack but Lucifer just stood there. The Fallen slowly walked towards him, dragging his sword along the ground. Victor gulped and slowly moved forward. He was very nervous now that Lucifer had his sword. Expecting Lucifer to charge at any moment, yet still the Late General had a calm and constant pace, agitating the Angel even more. Finally his fear got the better of him and Victor charged head on with a yell. He trusted his spear forward but Lucifer parried. Victor tried another attack yet Lucifer avoided it as well. This carried on for a while as Victor tried every attack he could think of but Lucifer merely toyed with him the whole time, frustrating the Major even further. Taking a step back, Victor tried Extension in close quarters as he was running out of options and ideas. Lucifer in turn used his own. His Sorrow breaker rejoiced as Lucifer’s Maya gave it a pure golden aura. Lifting the sword up, the fallen smashed it down. The weapon cut through Victor’s Extension as well as Spear like paper, astonishing and dreading Victor. But that’s not where it stopped. Lucifer’s sword hit the ground, which trembled violently. Till the point it could no longer hold and the dock’s platform shattered. Victor was thrown away by the force of the attack as the area was coated with a cloud of dust.  Lucifer’s attack had destroyed more than half of the Docks with a single blow and such display of power sent chills down him. Slowly the smoke gave away, showing Lucifer’s slowly approaching form. His face was over shadowed, leaving only his glowing blue orbs visible. Victor backed off in fear, only to trip and fall on his ass. The fallen was already before him like an executioner. The power his very being radiated was legendary, just like the stories. It made him frightful as well as awed, for Victor himself witnessed the power…….of the Eldest Immortal. Lucifer raised his sword, ready to finish what they started. Victor closed his eyes, accepting his fate with open arms. Yet the blow never came. The blond wanted to end it here and now, but he stopped. The Major had fought bravely, holding true to his duty till the very end and Lucifer respected that. And Since Victor was Raphael’s apprentice; Lucifer felt his fondness for this old apprentice resurface.  He couldn’t do it. Lucifer groaned and lowered his sword, knowing whole heartedly that this decision will come to bite his ass but still he showed mercy. “Go….get out of here, Boy.” Thus he left, leaving behind a defeated, confused but very much alive Victor………………………………
