Out of pan and Into the fire

Pregnant silence consumed them, none daring to move a muscle at this point. Lucifer looked into Gabriel’s determined eyes in a seemingly endless starring competition. It was the elder who broke the silence first, “You sure you want to do this, Boy?” The young angel gripped his weapon tighter and with a voice filled with resolve he declared, “Whatever it takes.” This unexpectedly caused Lucifer to chuckle aloud, “You got the spirit boy. I like that, but…” Gabriel was not prepared for this. Lucifer suddenly with speed the young angel couldn’t follow held the muzzle of the R.M.P blaster and yanked it out of Gabriel’s clutches. The young angel was about to reach for his mace but Lucifer was quicker. The fallen angel held Gabriel by his face and threw him away with such force that the boy crashed through several train buggies before getting embedded in the wall at the other side of the platform. “I cannot let you screw up our plans.” He muttered. Zoya was mentally and visibly shaken by such display of power. For her it was unnatural, and unbelievable. Just too much for her small head. Seeing the small girl frozen in her spot, Lucifer asked, “Child, You alright?” “How?” she stammered. “I will explain later. Is this vehicle ready to leave?” Zoya took several breaths to calm herself and tried to focus on her task. As absurd as everything was, she really wanted to get out of the Prison.                                                                                         ---X--- The prisoners were putting up hell of a fight. All the pent up rage and frustration was direction towards the Guards and since the prisoners outnumbered them by a vast scale, the advantage of better equipment and weapons was soon overpowered. But Victor wasn’t really concerned about it though. His first priority was the female Demon. So imagine his surprise when he got the news that the prison train was leaving the platform on its own. He knew who it was and losing her would be catastrophic for him. Thus he now rallied his angels and set out to spot the escapees. It was about time he started fighting.                                                                                       ---X--- Taking the train proved to be a good idea till now. The four had been able to slip past the chaos unnoticed and even if the enemies would’ve seen them, it would be too late as the train had already made a good distance away from the prison and now they were making their way through the hanging city. Luna was trying to clean Rose’s wounds as best as she could with a piece of cloth she had torn off her sleeve. It wasn’t proper care but was better than nothing. The said demoness slowly looked at her and spoke, “Thank you.” Luna smiled sweetly, “Oh, No need to thank us, we are friends right? ...Besides.” She turned to Lucifer and gave him a look as if expecting him to say something. The fallen one sighed in defeat and came over them. Rose looked down, not really sure about how she felt about Lucifer anymore. He kneeled to her level and spoke, “I know what I did was wrong and I have no right to come forth and ask you of this but….” his voice was hesitant yet he let out a breath and said truthfully, “Do find it in your being, please forgive me. I will repay for the deed I have done.” Rose was genuinely surprised by Lucifer’s word. Not really expecting an apology. This confused her for she had never been in such situation before and was unsure how to respond. So she simply replied with a nod which Lucifer accepted. They reached the main city and the scene around them changed drastically. Several more tracks now ran besides their own train, each with their own train going back and forth. The Busy streets were on the platforms below them with massive building hanging besides the tracks and since it was a Vorken city, numerous arrays of pipes and machines connected the whole city in a very uncoordinated but firm fashion. “So, where to now?” asked Zoya. “No idea. Do you know anywhere safe where we can rest?” asked Lucifer back. “Well, I do know a place which may be safe.” The girl spoke, not too sure about it. “We lack many options. So take us where you see fit.” “Aye boss.” Joked Zoya. Now all hoped that their journey would be smooth but they had a very shitty luck now-a-days. Lucifer had just sat down heavily on the floor when Zoya pointed out what she saw, “I’m not sure what those are but, I think we’ve got company.” Luna and Lucifer popped their head out of the window and saw what Zoya meant by company. Angels were on them. At least twenty by the looks of it and they looked pissed. Lucifer cursed as the winged Immortals opened fire at them. Their train narrowly missed the attacks but it was clear that something had to be done. Turning to Zoya, he commanded, “Go faster.” Although quite shaken by the event, Zoya nodded, “Aye boss.” With that she got to work. Still with the angels at their tail, it was only a matter of time before they would be caught. So Lucifer opened the train’s door and climbed on its roof. “Its Lucifer!” the immortals roared, opening fire at him. Lucifer unfolded his wing to deflect the attacks. He then countered with his boom stick but with the distance they were in, it was not so effective. Back with the girls, Luna came besides Zoya and yelled, “Can’t this thing go any faster?” Zoya tweaked several buttons and pulled levers right and left before answering, “We are already putting too much load on the Amber stone engine. Any further and the engine will overload.” The child yelled back, doing her best to stabilize the vehicle while maintaining the speed. A train which was moving besides their own went off in a fiery explosion as an attack meant for them hit it instead. Luna balled her fist anger, “Fine. Stay safe. I’ll help Luci.” She stated and went towards the window. Lucifer deflected yet another barrage of Maya blasts directed towards the engine. Till now he was successful in protecting the train but the angels were getting more impatient. He looked behind the train and saw the destruction left by them. The entire rail way line and some of the buildings were utterly destroyed. This was one of the reasons why Lucifer didn’t liked fighting in populated areas. The immortals are not really concerned about collateral damage and battle between immortals was always destructive and people get hurt. Still he concentrated on his defensive stance; all he could do was protect the train for he didn’t have any good means to harm the immortals. Not from this distance and his current weapon, the Boom stick. Out of the blue, Luna opened the train’s door and yelled, “Take this, Fire Barrage!” and hurled a compressed ball of fire towards the flock of Angels. The small fire ball covered the distance almost instantly and the explosion on impact was far greater than anything you could expect from the ball of its size. It engulfed the entire squad of Immortals in golden flames. Unfortunately the blast even, though it was powerful, only managed to take down a couple of Angels and the remaining had dispersed and started shooting from different directions, unknowingly making Lucifer’s job harder.                                                                                          ---X--- Major Victor had not anticipated that Lucifer would be involved in this matter but it did make his job easier, now he didn’t have to search high and low for Lucifer. Right now they were having quite a chase. With Lucifer and his group of rag tag crew on a moving vehicle, Cleanser, their strongest weapon in disposal, would be useless for it was a stationary turret. And not to mention being boarded on a train made it harder to get a clean hit was well. The late general guarded their train well and the Angels having to avoid incoming fire based attacks which were surprisingly lethal was very tasking as well. So first thing was first, they had to get their target off the train. Victor pulled out his spear and held it with his two hands and concentrated. It was time to pull out the big guns.                                                                                          ---X--- Lucifer felt a sudden shift in the air. His eyes widened in realization as he looked at the source of the very high Maya energy he could sense. Victor had taken out his spear and held it firmly. His body glowed in golden aura which flowed towards the spear. Soon the spear let out massive surges of energy as a golden ethereal outline formed around spear forming an extension of the spear itself. This was an ancient immortal art known as ‘Weapon Extension’. This required using one’s Maya to mould an ethereal extension over one’s weapon, powering it up vastly. Requiring a great deal of control and concentration, this ancient art, although achievable by all immortals was still unachieved by most. Most high ranking Immortals had to learn this art which could take millenniums. It was a devastating power and it made Lucifer frown. The now ‘Extended’ spear started to grow, till it was about thirty feet long. Victor made a throwing motion with a loud yell, “Yaaaaah!” The Extension of the spear left his hand and soared through the air at an incredible speed. Lucifer half expected the spear to be directed towards them but the truth was much worse. The Spear flew over them and destroyed the entire tracks and several buildings before them like they were nothing, leaving only smoking ruins. Such power the weapon held. “The Tracks!” screamed Zoya in terror, pointing at the huge hole where the track used to be. While the other two females were shell shocked by the destruction caused by the spear. Lucifer climbed down from the roof and asked, “Everyone alright?” “WE’RE GONNA FALL!” screamed Zoya and fall they did. The train ran out of tracks and down it fell towards the violent sea below the Arch where the city was build on. Zoya screamed on top of her lungs, holding on the controls till her knuckles were white. Thinking fast, Lucifer picked up Rose and turned to Luna. “Get the child!” he yelled before jumping off the falling train. Bracing himself, Lucifer broke through some Metal pipes with Rose safely behind him out of harm’s way. He had spotted a hanging road between platforms nearby before jumping off and that was where he fell. Ignoring the crowd of Vorkens who were gathering around, Lucifer turned back to check on Luna. As instructed, the red head, who was now in her Phoenix form landed before them with Zoya whom she held by her jacket with her talons. She descended and settled the fearful Vorken child down and reverted back to her bipedal form. Coming over them with Rose in his arms, he asked, “Everyone alright?” Luna nodded with a smile, Rose gave a simple nod but the sole mortal in their group seemed to be losing her cool, “You kidding me? She turned into a Bird! We nearly died! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?” she yelled. Lucifer took that as a yes. Still, even though the group had just made a daring escape, they were not safe. As in queue, some Angels spotted them, “HE’S HERE!” they yelled and opened fire at them. The precedents ran away in fear with some unlucky falling prey of the cross fire. The Late General had to give Rose away to Luna and use his wing to defend the girls behind him as Luna launched the counter attack (With surprising accuracy even with Rose on her back), taking down some of the angels. One angel got too close to them and was immediately pulled down by Lucifer. He unloaded two rounds in the Immortal’s head, ending his life. On instinct he took a step back as another Extended Spear made a massive hole at the place he was standing a moment ago. They soon found out that it was Victor and his men were closing in.  “We gotta move quickly!” He spoke to the group. “This way!” yelled Zoya. She seemed to know the city very well and lead them to the residence district which was under a huge platform. It was a smart choice on Zoya’s part as the platform stopped the angels from flying too high and getting a bird’s eyes view of their position. But the Immortals were persistent. They were tearing the city apart to look for them, literally. Luckily Zoya knew her way around the city very well and was able to keep them out of sight………….. For now.                                                                                        ---X--- Major Victor was having quite a bad time, he cursed at his targets for choosing this district to run. The platform above them was making their search miserable. The escapees had managed to hide themselves good, but he knew that they will eventually make a mistake and come out in the open. And he was right. To move from one section of the platform to the other, they had no other way but to cross it by the bridge which joined the two sections. And Victor was right. His men spotted Lucifer and his group by the bridge, but didn’t attack just yet. They had already learned it the hard way that a head on attack was useless so they had to be careful and use their wits. Their targets were half way across the bridge. This was when Victor used his extended spear to destroy a portion of the upper platform, causing its debris to fall down and break the bridge in the middle. Lucifer’s group had to move out of the way. Not willing to be crushed by the falling debris. But they made a big mistake, Luna and the other girls were now stranded on the one side of the bridge and Lucifer was on the other. Both separated by a forty feet gap. “Luci, you okay?” asked Luna worryingly from the other side. Lucifer waved back and yelled, “I’m fine. Stay there, I’ll find a way!” This was exactly what Victor wanted. He wanted them separated. The Angels charged in. When Lucifer saw them, he cursed and yelled to the rest, “Get out of here, I’ll hold them off!” Luna didn’t argue back and put her trust on Lucifer. Holding Rose more properly, she asked Zoya to lead the way. Not willing to be left behind with such powerful beings wreaking havoc around the city, the little girl complied, even though she was exhausted, both physically and mentally. Victor turned to Azazel and ordered, “Bring me the Demon alive.” “And the rest?” “Do what you must.” The Major said stoically. Azazel smiled evilly at this and flew at the direction of Luna and co. To Victor’s surprise, Gabriel (Who had recovered from Lucifer’s attack and joined up with the angels) flew after Azazel. “Private, Come back! That’s an order!” he yelled but the young angel couldn’t or didn’t hear him. The Major cursed but he had no time for this. Quickly he turned towards his main target, hoping that the Private will not do something stupid…………………………………..
