I needed to find the time to tell Lily my decision , which I knew she would hate but life just got in the way. Between packing , the ever constant stream of Luca’s men coming and going and the travel plans being finalised there just hadn’t been a good time.
Plus it was breaking my heart , watching them glance over each other when they thought no one was looking. She had a sad , downtrodden look on her face every time he came into the room. Her eyes following him . But she didn’t talk to him. She wouldn’t even look at him when he tried to speak to her. And hadn’t tried again. Just stared at her like something was eating him up inside. There were dark smudges under his eyes as if he hadn’t slept , he was unshaven for the first time since I had known him.
