“May I sit?”
Both men just stared at me in silence as if my being there was the biggest shock of their lives. I raised a brow.
“Alice, you should be resting. The doctor gave you”
I let the pill clatter on the table. “Yes he did, it doesn’t mean I took it” I pulled a chair from a nearby table and Luca finally closed his mouth., making a move as if to help me lift a simple chair. I waved him away. “I'm not sick Luca, I can manage”
My grandfather said nothing but his mouth quirked up with amusement. His eyes were sad though, that much was obvious even when his face was hard.
