His words had been running through my mind for days. I was totally preoccupied with it. I dropped things at work, forgot peoples orders and was generally a shitty waitress.
Today was first day of classes and I was a total scatter brain, people were starting to notice and comment.
“What’s up with you?” Lily linked her arm through mine , grinning from ear to ear. “And where have you been hiding? I’ve not seen you all weekend” she giggled as we walked through the half empty street. Leaves were starting to fall, a riot of colour everywhere that crunched under foot.
“Just been busy you know” I gave a non committed shrug but I knew she would see straight through it. We had been friends for a long time and room mates for longer.
