Chapter 5

Beatrix Three days. I've been running for three days. Running through the woods dodging as many fallen trees as I can. But its getting hard the exhaustion is starting to set in. Slowing my pace to a slow trot I hear a stream in the distance. In desperate need of water and rest I let Ashton take over to get us to the stream. Bea, we should shift back I need to rest. Okay Ash, I'll take over and continue on my own after we rest for a little bit. As I approached the stream I slowly shifted back to my human form. I quickly pulled my large black hoodie and some shorts out of my bag. Kneeling by the stream I fill one of my water bottles. Resting next to the stream puts me at peace, a kind of calm I haven't felt since I left my old pack. Thinking back on all I went through while I was in no-mans land. Almost being killed six times finally put my life into perspective. I'm not as strong as I thought I was. Slowly I start to lay down finally feeling the true extent of the exhaustion taking over. Letting my heavy eyelids close to get some uh needed sleep. Memories flood my mind. The first time my mom hit me, all the bulling and mean words flung at me. All the abuse that my pack flung at me because my own mother got pregnant with a child that wasn't her mates. Not that she ever wanted him. Flashes of when Alex rejected me causes me to feel the same pain in my chest. Snap. The snapping of a twig is all it took for me to pulled from my dreams. Quickly I sit up and get in to my defensive stance. Five wolves surround me the most noticeable it the large White wolf. I'm guessing he the Alpha. There is a smaller blonde wolf next to him with blue eyes, a brown wolf with forest green eyes. Then I notice the two black wolves slowly taking menacing steps towards me. One has blue eyes while one has hazel eyes. Snapping my head back towards the Alpha I see he has grey eyes that seem so familiar but I cant place them. "I mean you no harm, I just passed through your territory by accident." mustering as much sincerity as I can to make sure that the wolves don't hurt me. Slowly reaching down to grab my bag so I can leave I see the Alpha go behind a tree and shift. When he comes out in basketball shorts I take in his features. Dark brown hair falling to the top of his ears, a strong proud nose, square jaw. He's tall and muscular, clear skin that looks like its made of porcelain. Unannounced to me while I took in his appearance I see that all the wolves have shifted back to their human forms. "I really mean no harm." I say starting to walk away from the five men that stand in front of me. "Little Flower?" he asks with the tilt of his head looking like a confused puppy. Stopping mid step I peek over my shoulder to look at him. Curiosity evident in my eyes I turn around and look at him. Trying to figure out why he called me that. Bea? Do you know him? I'm not sure only one person called me little flower and it was once when I was five. Looking back to the men as they watch me with clear curiosity and something else I cant place. The Alpha takes a step towards me, making Ashton let out a warning growl. The other men quickly growl back at me for my disrespect of their Alpha. Taking another step back and lowering my head slightly ready to attack. The Alpha says something that catches my attention. "Princesses shouldn't look down their crowns might fall off." Snapping my head up to look at him in the eye. "Isn't that right little flower?" "Who are you?" I ask Who is this man and why does he keep calling me little flower like that kind man all those years ago. Trapped in my own thoughts of who this man could be I didn't notice that the Alpha is now standing in front of me. Looking at me with nothing but kindness as I search his eyes for answers. "I am Alpha King Dominic Ezra Wright" he states as if that it was the most obvious thing in the world. The memory of when I was a small girl on the steps of the pack house watching the other children play. When I the kind stranger comes up to me and asked why I don't play with the other children. I quickly remember his face as the man that day just slightly older than that day. Realization hits me, I quickly bow my head to him to show my respect. "I meant no disrespect you majesty" looking down hoping that he wont be offend by my earlier actions. He let out a deep chuckle that resonated with pure amusement. Looking up curiously I see only kindness and compassion in his eyes. "Now tell me are you the little flower that I met in the Crescent moon pack? The one who sat on the steps of the pack house watching the other children play." "How did you know it was me that you met all those years ago?" I ask raising one of my eyebrows. "Your eyes, I only know two people with violet eyes. A member of the council and the little girl from that day." he says honestly. "And what if I am the girl from that day?" Looking at me with curiosity I notice his smile falter for the fraction of a second. Seem as if he contemplating what his next words should be. "I wont hurt you little flower." "And how do I know that for sure?" I ask skeptically. "If I wanted to hurt I would have already done it." He's right and you know it Bea You have a point, but that doesn't mean that still he wont hurt us. We can trust him Ashton states How do you know that there no guarantee that we can trust him I state angrily. I know he wont hurt us I can feel it. I know you can feel it to. He will protect us I know it She says pleading with me. Before I have a chance to reply back I'm pulled from the conversation when someone places there hand on my arm. Snatching my arm from the persons touch and stepping back so they cant tough me again. I look into his grey eyes that shine with worry. "Please don't touch me" Deep down I know he wouldn't hurt me.
