Three months had passed since the great Crusader victory over Kerbogah and his Turkish army. The city of Antioch had been secured, and the road to Jerusalem now lay open, but a rift had grown between Bohemond and some of the other leaders, and it had come to an impasse. They could not agree on a way forward to Jerusalem, and Bohemond, now the self-proclaimed prince of Antioch, had cut off communication with the other leaders and was content to reside in the citadel high above the city, away from everyone else.
