I was giving what Adam said some thought, I just don’t know if I can right now. They all turned a blind eye to all of this. They all could have tried and fixed before it got this far out of hand. I guess I just don’t see how they could do that. I will think more on that later, let me get back into looking at these books.
“Kenzie where did you find these books? I didn’t see them last time we were here.” Adam asked.
“I found them at the top of the stairs and to the right in the very back. There is a shelf there that doesn’t look real, but when I reached to touch it, the books came with me.” Kenzie replied.
“That’s odd, I didn’t see that earlier. Ok well pass me one and I will help. The others are still trying to process and your grandfathers will talk with the council about all of this.” Adam told her.
“That’s fine. It’s best if those two old men stay out of my way today. I don’t think I could handle any more of their crap and excuses on this matter.” Kenzie replied.
Adam just looked at me and rolled his eyes. I held back a brief laugh, but I let a slight smile show. After a while of reading, the others showed up to grab some books. Some tried to use the internet to do an ancestry background check to see if we could figure out a name for the grandfather that could have caused this mess. Maybe then we could also figure out what covens were around.
“Kenzie I found something I think. I found a great-great-great-great-great-grandfather named Leonard. He was a werewolf that fell in love with a witch until he met his mate and left the witch behind. It was in a dairy I found by his mate named Phyllis.” Russell said.
“That’s an excellent start that means it was on grandfather Dusty’s side,” Kenzie replied
“Wait, I found something too. It’s another diary from Grandfather William and he found his mate and she was a witch in a coven.” Haven added in.
“Damn, it could have been the coven on that one too. Great, both sides had something to do with witches. How is that even possible?” Kenzie asked.
They all took notes about what they had learned and kept reading. They were hoping to find out more before too long. Then Kenzie came across to where it all came together. Someone wrote it in an old council book of records. There weren't two covens, it was just one coven, and both men had wanted someone in the coven. One that was rejected had to be one of the higher-ups in the coven, and the one that got her mate must be under the other one. The wonderful thing is that the coven is still around and can answer some questions for me.
“I found the connection that we have been looking for. In the council's book. It is a shocker.” Kenzie announced.
“What did you find?” ShaSha asked
“We are only looking for one coven and they are still around here. Both sides were dealing with the same coven and they have always been on the side of the good. But one wanted revenge for her heartbreaking. The other just didn’t want a war, so they said no unions between each other for the sake of the treaty. But one took her revenge and placed the curse behind the other's back. They might know now, but I am not sure. I don’t know how any of this works for covens.” Kenzie explained.
“I would say ask Sami but she didn’t come with us this time, but she is not here. Why is she not here?” ShaSha asked.
“Sami, Trent, Jake, and Kati stayed behind to monitor things there. While the rest came here to figure things out.” Adam said.
“Oh, yeah, that’s right. It would have been nice to have her here right now. I will call her to see what she can tell us.” ShaSha said.
“Yes, please do that and let me know what she thinks we should do.” Kenzie put it.
Next thing they all knew Dusty and Scott came into the library and told everyone to meet them downstairs and that they had things to go over. We all looked at each other knowing we all still had a lot to do and didn’t have time to take time out to talk with them.
“What is this about Dusty?” Kenzie asked
“Just come down don’t start right now. We are just trying to help.” Scott said.
“Yeah right. Let’s go, everyone. Let’s go see what they have to say and let’s make it fast. We still have a lot to do.” Kenzie told them all.
They all followed Scott and Dusty out of the library and down the stairs. I can’t believe I will listen to what they have to say. They have been little help since I got here, and I am wondering why. What are they hiding from me?
“Now that we are all here. We went to the council to talk to them to see if they knew anything about this so curse. They told us to drop it and not go any further with this and that they know nothing of a curse on our family. So we must let this be since that is the council’s wishes.” Scott said.
“What are you and this council hiding? Because I will not let this go. This curse got my parents killed and I will not suffer the same fate. Nor let my friends be brought down because you all want to keep something hidden that should not be. Do I make myself clear?” Kenzie voiced with anger.
“Kenzie we can’t go against the council,” Dusty said
“You may not, but I can. I don’t owe them a damn thing. I am here just to figure out what happened to my parents and to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Besides that, I don’t owe anyone anything and I will do what needs to be done. So you can tell your council to kiss my ass.” Kenzie's voice is even angrier than she knew that she had in her.
“Kenzie is right. You have not been trying to help her since she got here. Why is that?” Plato asked.
“We have been trying to help her. We even went to find her when we knew she was in trouble,” Scott said.
“Yes, all before she came here. You have been trying to keep her from learning anything new since she came to this place. Why?” Adam jumped in.
“What are you trying to say Adam?” Dusty asked
“I’m saying that you and Scott are not really there for Kenzie but standing in her way. We all want to know why?” Adam said.
“That is uncalled for Adam. You are not part of this family. How can you say that to us?” Scott said.
“Oh, don’t go there. He is a part of my family, and that is all that matters. He can say anything if that is how he feels. You don’t have a right to tell him he can’t. Now I will ask you since you seem not to want to answer Plato or Adam. Why are you hiding from me? Why are you not trying to solve this? Why are you trying to stop me? So before you think of not answering or give me an off the wall answer just remember I know when you're lying.” Kenzie said with a look that said don’t f**k with me.
Everyone knew I had them by the balls and I was sick of being nice. It wasn’t getting me anywhere and it sure as hell isn't helping anyone. They needed to know that I am here for a reason, not for them or the council.
“Kenzie, you know we love you and want the best for you. You are to lead our people to the future. Do you hear yourself? Thinking we would try to stop you. Why would we do that?” Dusty asked.
“See that is not the answer I was looking for. You think I don’t know you guys well enough to know that you both are stalling till the council and get here. Please, the question you need to be asking yourself is done I care? Or what do you really think they can do to me?” Kenzie asked in a mocking form.
“Kenzie you have to listen to us. The council will not let you keep digging into your parents' death. They are fine with what answers they have. They do not want to upset anyone with your digging. Stop.” Scott pleaded.
“See that is a little better answer. Not what I am looking for, nor do I care what the council wants. They can’t stop me and neither can you. The council isn’t coming. I made sure of it and see we already know some curse stuff. We really don’t need your help. I know both families had a dealing with the same coven. I know one family caused the curse, I know the other was mated to one witch but was banned from the coven. I also know which coven it is. I am just waiting on a phone call, then all of us will deal with the coven and find the one I am looking for. So I am doing this. Not for you or the council, but for my family and the people of this place. They need to know the truth and know that someone will do whatever it takes to get the answers. You two are now banned to your rooms. I don’t want to see you until we get this handle with the coven.” Kenzie announced.
“You can’t do this,” Dusty yelled
“We are not children to be treated this way,” Scott added in
“She did and she can. So you both have a choice to go to your room peacefully or the hard way. That is your call.” Plato said, and the others agreed.
“Okay, we are going. No need to be rough with us.” Scott said.
“Now you're just taking all our fun away,” ShaSha said while laughing.
ShaSha, Plato, Conner, and Haven walked Scott and Dusty to their rooms, then they had some others from the wolf pack to stand guard so they didn’t get out. There were guards outside their windows and outside their doors. No one could afford them impeding what needed to be done. Too much was a stack to have her family standing in her way. She was getting close to finding out what caused all of this and helping the area. She didn’t want anyone else gets hurt, and she didn’t want her future children in this kind of a mess like she is in now. That is not fair to them. This needs to be handled now before she can go on with her life with Adam.
