Waiting on Katie to call me about this coven is driving me crazy. She knows it too. What am I going to do with that girl? Then I hear the phone ring and I know it is here.
“Kenzie, you may want to hear this?” ShaSha yells
“I’m coming” I yell back
I walked to where ShaSha was standing in the hall with the phone to her ear. I look at her, and she shakes her head. Then I know I will not be happy with what I am about to hear.
“What is it now? What did she say?” I asked.
“She hung up, but she is on her way here. She said that you can’t go to a coven without another witch there with you. They will see it as a threat and the only other way is to invite them there. So she is on her way here and she will help with all of that once she gets here. She said it will take her three days with all the connecting flights then she said we better be there to pick her up or else.” ShaSha said then they both started laughing.
If she was coming, then it has to be the only way to get to talk with the coven. This can’t be good if that is the only way. Something can’t be right. Now I have to wait three days to figure this out. Then I will have to do more research on this matter. I just feel that I have missed something. I walked back to the library and passed the others on my way. Adam gets up and follows me to where I am going. I had no thought but to find out everything I could about that coven. I needed to know all I could before I talked to them. I didn’t want anymore surprises.
“Sami is on the way here. She says we have to wait till she gets here to talk with the coven. I have a feeling that she isn’t telling us everything and she won’t till she gets here. So I want to find out everything we can about this coven. I don’t want anymore surprises.” Kenzie explained
“When did you find all of this out?” Adam asked.
“She called ShaSha just a little while ago,”
“Is that why you came back in here to do more research?”
“Yes, and I have to do something. I have too many questions and I know something is going on here besides the curse and my aunt wanting to kill me. There is more that we are missing here.”
“I understand that. So I came to help.”
“Thanks, Adam.”
They both grabbed some books and started looking for information about the coven was around here. They weren't finding anything about the coven. I was thinking it was very odd that they had nothing about the coven.
“Why is there nothing here about the coven?”
“I was wondering the same thing.”
“There has to be something that we are overlooking.”
“How about we just look around this library and see if there is more to this library than what we think. That seemed to work for you before.”
“Ok, let’s try.”
We walked around to see if we could find anything was out of place in this library. At first, we found nothing, and then we walked to the back of the library and there was a shimmer of something around a mirror. Knowing I think I found what I was looking for made a brief smile come across my face.
“You're smiling. You found something.”
“Yes, it’s behind the mirror.”
“How do we get it open?”
“I’m not sure yet. I really could use ShaSha and Plato right now. They have a little better nose for this. I think we need to bring them here. Can you go get them and just them at the moment?”
“Yeah, just do nothing till we get back.”
He knew me well enough to know I usually do things he doesn’t want me to do. But this time I thought he was right. I just needed to sit and wait till they all got here. Something was telling me not to go in there alone. Then after a few moments I heard the library door open and them talking as they came in. They all walked back to where I was and looked shocked that I was still there.
“Don’t look so shocked. I can stay put once in a while.”
“No you can, and you know it,” ShaSha said
“Look, something is telling me not to go in there alone. That there should be more of us. So I waited this time. I need you guys to tell me what you smell.”
“Smell?” Plato asked
“Yes, if it is magic, which I can feel. Magic also has a smell. I need to know what you smell.”
So both ShaSha and Plato went to the mirror and smelled all around the mirror. They both wrinkled up their nose at the smell around the mirror. ShaSha shook her head and couldn’t get the smell out of her nose. Plato jumped back from the mirror-like it burned him. That told me it was dark magic that was causing the spell around the mirror. This is not a marvelous thing.
“Okay guys. Thank you. By your reactions to the mirror. It tells me that black magic is the spell around the mirror. So this coven is a mixer of dark magic and white magic. They do both depend on what they need.” Kenzie explained.
“So what do we do now?” Adam asked.
“I’m not sure. Except that it means we can’t go in there without some white magic to protect us. It also means we need Sami here for that.” Kenzie said.
“This s**t keeps getting worse the more we find out,” ShaSha added on
“I know. I just wish some things would add up. That way we could understand why this is happening.” Kenzie pondered aloud.
They all heard yelling coming from the hall. So we all got up and went to see what the hell was going on. Scott and Dusty were yelling at people to get me to come and talk to them. I just looked at them like they were crazy.
“What is with all the yelling out here?” Kenzie yelled
“It’s about time that you came to talk to us,” Scott said
“I don’t think I need to talk to you. You guys didn’t want to be honest with me or tell me anything.” Kenzie spoke up.
“Kenzie we can’t. You understand that.” Dusty said.
“No, I can’t understand. Because you have a choice. To do what everyone wants or to do what is right. You followed, not to do what is right.” Kenzie explain.
“Kenzie things are not that simple here. There is so much more than you know. Please let it go.” Scott pleaded.
“I won’t. Because that would not be the right thing to do. The people of this place need the truth so they don’t have to be scared anymore.” Kenzie told them.
“Kenzie is right, doing the right thing is never easy. That is why very few can make it on that path.” Plato announced.
“Plato it’s okay. They will never understand that path. Because they have never chosen to walk that path at all.” Kenzie said.
Then all walked away from them and left them there. She had no respect for them, no more. She just wanted to do what is right and then be done with it. If that means she has to kill her aunt and a witch, then so be it. She had to follow her heart on this matter. They all went into the living room so they could figure out their next move and wait for Sami to show up.
“What should we do now?” Russell asked.
“I don’t know. I know Sami is on her way here.” ShaSha said.
“Why is she coming?” Adam asked.
“She has to be the one to talk with the coven,” Kenzie told them
“How is she going to talk to them when she is not of this coven?” Sam asked.
“Well, my guess is because she is a witch they are more likely willing to talk to her than us,” Adam said
“I guess I can understand that to a point. So what should we do while we wait?” Conner asked.
“Let's explore this house. It could hold other things that we haven’t figured out yet. But I think we all need to stay together.” ShaSha said.
“I vote to fix some food first then we can explore,” Alex said
“I like that idea too,” Kat said.
“I could do with some food,” Conner added on
“Then let's eat first, then we all can walk together and explore this place,” Kenzie said
They all went into the kitchen to fix dinner. Agreeable thing, this was a gigantic kitchen. Some fixed the main dishes and others fixed side dishes. There were two of them that made drinks for everyone. It didn’t take long with everyone working together. They set the table, and they all set down to a friendly dinner. Then suddenly her two grandfathers walked into the dining room to have dinner with them. Everyone turned to look at them like they were crazy. But they seat themselves at the opposite end of the table, away from the others. No one talked at all until dinner was over. Once everyone cleaned up from dinner and watched Scott and Dusty walk back to their room. We all relaxed once more.
“That was kind of weird with them showing up once everything was done than thinking we were all just going to talk in front of them,” Conner said
“Don’t worry about them. They know we don’t trust them.” ShaSha said.
They all just sat down when they heard a noise coming from the backyard. They all ran to the backyard to see what was going on and the guards were chasing Dusty and Scott around the yard. I walked to the porch to see the sense I couldn’t believe that it was happening.
“What is going on here?” I yelled.
Everyone just stopped and looked my way. Then my grandfathers walked my way.
“We need to talk. We will not stay in our rooms anymore.” Dusty said.
“We are not going to be treated like we are prisoners in our home,” Scotty added on
“Fine, you guys want to be free, then go where you want. But stay out of my way, I do not want you getting in the way. Do we understand each other?” Kenzie told them.
“Fine,” They both said
Dusty and Scotty walked off and didn’t look back at me. Like some kind of spoiled child. I have never seen grown men in such away. There is something going on with those two. I wonder if I should do a scan of them when they go to sleep. To see if they have any black magic in their system. That would explain some of their actions since we arrived here two months ago.
“Adam I think we need to do a scan on them, when they fall asleep tonight. What do you think?” Kenzie asked.
“That’s an idea. It also may explain some of their actions. So yeah, I will get with Plato and let him know to meet us in our room at midnight.” Adam said.
“Sounds good. Let’s go exploring,” Kenzie said.
