A/N: Wow, I was kinda afraid I wouldn't get an update out this week. School has been frantic, and I've been having twice as much homework than I usually do in the last few days. Which is weird considering I took the ACT 3 days ago. Also, YAY ranked 37??? Like HOW? Anyways, enjoy the chapter, and as usual, leave a like if you're enjoying the story so far! "... Huh?" Alex's eyes remained unblinking, his pupils widening in surprise. "Well, apparently I'm too weak to participate in the magic competition, so the teachers want me to compete in the warrior one. Except they seemed to have forgotten I don't know the first thing about being a warrior." I pointed to my head and paused for dramatic effect. He tilted his head confusion. "What do you mean you don't know? I mean specifics, I understand, but we've been learning the basics since we've enrolled." Crap. Didn't mean to hint anything. I quickly cleared my throat in a haste of nervousness. "That's what I meant, of course. In specifics." I avoided his green eyes when I saw they were filled with suspicion. He gave a sigh once he saw I wasn't planning to say anything else. "So, what exactly do you want me to do?" It looks like he's already resigned himself. Good. "I need you to prepare me for the competition. Of course, I'm not hoping for first place, but I do want a chance," I said confidently. I want people to know that they shouldn't underestimate me, that I'm no longer the old Camille. Literally. Unfortunately, Alex only gave a mocking laugh. "You? Fight and actually win a match? Even the weakest warrior in this school could defeat you." He waves his hand in a dismissive manner. "No way. It would years before you can stand on that stage without getting yourself killed in the process." He gave another chuckle before starting to move away. "Then, I guess I'll just have to tell Alice," I spoke from behind him, halting his steps. I raised my voice to sound sweeter, "'I'm sorry, Alice. I want to be friends but your boyfriend hates me'". I even lifted my hand to wipe the nonexisting tears. "Okay!" He raised both his hands, surrendering himself. Combing through his beautiful blonde locks with his finger, he asked, "But it's not going to be easy. You are not going to be able to handle it," he said as his last attempt to get me to give up. "We'll see." I wanted to roll my eyes. Why does everyone seem to look down on me so much? In my old life, I was known as the most stubborn person anyone has ever met. It was why I was so successful in my work; an employee at a gigantic company. I was persistent in getting business deals, often staying at the company for overtime, 4 to 5 times a week. The manager position was within my grasp as well, if it wasn't for him. "Camille?" Alex looked at me, not worried, but annoyed that I had seemed to ignore him. I shook away the thoughts and replied, "It's nothing. You can teach me at the Calvert mansion." He faltered at that. "No way! You want me to come to the home of my ex-fianc , whom I dumped, and face the wrath of her father?" He asked nervously. I hmmed thoughtfully. "You're right. Bring Alice as well. I have some delicious sweets for her." I gave him a smile and walked away. XXXXX "My, these sweets are delicious, Camille. I've never had desserts that were cold before. What are they called?" Alice was sitting in front of me, on the patio standing in the garden. I smiled as I poured her more tea. "They're called ice cream." I discovered that this world, the idea of ice cream didn't exist. Which was, of course, blasphemy. With a bit of sugar and milk and a flick of my fingers, I created one of the best vanilla ice cream I have ever tasted.
