Shane was heating some canned chili he’d found in the cupboard when he heard Laura’s voice behind him. “Taking a break?” He hadn’t heard her come in and he jumped a bit, startled. “No. I’m done for the day. I think I’m done, period.” “Why’s that?” “Everything’s gone to s**t. No one in the band is talking to me right now, I can’t focus on what I’m doing. I should have been able to redo all the ghost tracks today and I didn’t get four songs done. I can’t record an album like this. At this rate, I might just pack it in and go home.” The microwave beeped, announcing the timer had run out. He opened and pulled out the bowl, underestimating how hot it would be. He let it drop on the counter, waving his hands to cool them. “I don’t know. I’ll sleep on it tonight and see if anything’s change
