Chloe's POV
"You know what? "She came closer to my ears and whispered. "I am pregnant for the Alpha" I tried so very hard to bottle up the emotions inside me but at the moment it was just too much that it turned into anger and I couldn't help but push Olivia away from me in anger sending her down the high stairs and completely passed out at the last floor.
My heart pounded against the cage of my ribs, a chilling silence descended upon the room, shrouding it in an unsettling stillness.
Olivia's body lay motionless at the foot of the stairs, a heap of lifelessness that seemed to mock the triumphant laughter that once echoed through the air.
The cruel grin that had adorned her face moments ago had now been wiped clean, leaving behind only a haunting expression frozen in time.
I stood frozen at the top of the staircase, my breath caught in my throat, each gasp a struggle against the suffocating reality that crashed upon me like a relentless tsunami.
Panic surged through my veins, mingling with an overwhelming sense of regret that threatened to consume me whole. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the lifeless form before me, its presence a heavy weight upon my conscience.
Time seemed to stretch, the seconds elongating into an eternity as my mind spun with disbelief.
How had it come to this? How had a single moment of heated confrontation led to such a tragic outcome?
The images of our heated argument flashed through my mind like jagged lightning, fragmenting my thoughts into shards of guilt and despair.
I took hesitant steps down the staircase, each footfall an agonizing reminder of the irreversible path I had set in motion.
The wooden steps creaked beneath my weight, their protestations a haunting melody that echoed through the desolate space. Shadows danced eerily along the walls, casting grotesque shapes that seemed to mock my faltering resolve.
As I reached the bottom of the staircase, my trembling fingers reached out, desperate to touch the lifeless figure sprawled before me.
But fear gripped my hand, freezing it inches away from her cold, still form. I could feel the chill seeping into my bones, a physical manifestation of the remorse that now consumed me.
Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision as I sank to my knees beside her. A torrent of emotions crashed over me, the weight of my actions pressing down upon my fragile shoulders.
Regret mingled with sorrow, intertwining with a profound sense of loss. Each breath I took felt heavy, burdened by the knowledge that I could never undo what I had done.
In the midst of this suffocating darkness, a single thought flickered like a fragile flame in the recesses of my mind: the irreversible consequences of a single moment of anger.
And as the silence enveloped me, broken only by the echoes of my own shattered soul, I knew that I would forever be haunted by the chilling stillness and haunting expression frozen in time at the foot of those stairs.
Instantly, the heavy wooden doors swung open, their creaking protest muffled by the weight of the unfolding tragedy, Dexter emerged into the scene.
His eyes widened in shock, his face contorting with a mix of disbelief and seething anger. Before him lay Olivia, lifeless and still, her body a haunting testament to the horror that had transpired.
And there I stood, a spectral figure of guilt and regret, my presence casting a shadow over the harrowing scene.
My feelings were mixed, there stood the betrayer. The reason this whole thing happened in the first place.
But who was I to complain, now that I had almost killed someone, that’s if she wasn’t dead already. Dear, mixed with anger gripped me as he stared at me.
His look not giving any indication of love, he looked at me like he was staring at a monster.
"Dexter!" My voice trembled, barely audible above the suffocating silence that enveloped us. "Please, you have to understand. It wasn't like that.
I never intended for this to happen. It was a moment of chaos, of rivalry gone awry.
His gaze pierced through me, his eyes blazing with a simmering fury that threatened to consume everything in its path
How could you? Dexter's voice quivered with a raw mix of pain and accusation.
Did your jealousy blind you to the point of murder? Is this what consuming Omega power has done to you?
His words struck me like a physical blow, each syllable laced with a betrayal that cut through my soul. I had never wanted this outcome, never fathomed that our tangled web of emotions would lead to such a devastating conclusion.
The magnitude of his accusation weighed heavily upon me, threatening to crush my spirit beneath its crushing weight.
Desperation surged within me, my eyes pleading with Dexter for a sliver of belief, a glimmer of understanding. "Dexter, you have to believe me," I implored, my voice quivering with a fragile hope.
"I never wished harm upon Olivia. The surge of emotions, the clash of our powers... it was a tempest that spiraled out of control. I never meant for it to end like this."
“Guards!” He yelled, looking furious. “Call the healer immediately!” He commanded. Two of his guards streamed out immediately, heading out to summon the healer.
I stared straight into his eyes, trying to search his conscience but his anger remained unyielding, his trust shattered by the scene before him.
With a voice laced with authority and grief, he commanded the other guards present, his words lashing out like a whip. "Guards! Detain her!"
“Pleeasse…” I pleaded my heart shattering into many pieces.
Don’t do this to me please, she came at me first. It wasn’t intentional as I spoke, hot tears broke out of my eyes, streaming down my cheeks.
