My Money or your Body
Grace's POV "Who is it?" My voice wavered as I approached the entrance. Silence hung in the air, oppressively. I swung open the rickety door to my nightmare, Marcus. He was flanked by three hulking figures with knives and bats at the ready. I staggered backwards, heart pounding. "Hello, sweetheart," His icy voice slashed through me as his 6ft5 frame advanced forward. His dark gaze raked over my body several times, and a snide smile crept to the corner of his lips, which made me shudder. “Looking sexy as always.” He commented. "Marcus." A wounded voice whispered from behind. James, my brother, wheeled himself forward. Placing his battered frame between Marcus and I, mottled bruises of purple and black on his face were a telltale of Marcus's brutality. “Don't hurt her, please. I know she will pay you back. I swear it." Marcus sneered, unmoved. "Get out of my way!" Marcus punched James, sending him careening backwards to the floor with a sickening c***k. "No!" An animalistic wail ripped from my throat as my brother crumpled to the floor. "Leave them be you monsters!" My lanky mother shouted, from across the room, too afraid to come close. “Shut up, woman!” Marcus shouted right back at my mother and turned back to me with a vile smile. “Where is my money?” He asked as my heart slammed relentlessly on the walls of my ribcage, and I swallowed hard. “I don't have it yet.” I replied. His face lit up with a full grin, “that's good news.” He plied. “B…b…but we didn't even spend a dime of your money,” I retorted, with a stutter. “Your father signed a contract to pay back, and since that fool is nowhere to be found…” he bounced closer to me, and I backstepped. “You are going to have to pay back in cash or in kind,” he paused and wet his lips, “ but I know you don't have money to pay me back, so you are either sleeping with me, or I'm going to be throwing you out on the streets.” “I'd never give you my body!” I bit out with feeble courage, But he leaped towards me and I ran in a vile attempt to escape, but he caught my hand in a vise-like grip and pinned it above my head on the wall. He latched his body on mine so tight I could feel his bulging erection on my stomach. I struggled to break free from his iron grip, but it did not falter. Cold sweat broke out across my back as he ran his calloused palm along my collarbone, “I'll give you your money. You don't have to do this.” I pleaded in a hitched rasp. I saw his hazel eyes darken, “Shush.” He silenced me. His fingers went south from my collar bone, and a sickening sense of dread washed over me. I raised my knee to crush his crotch, then realized he had checked me. He had his legs between my legs. My powerlessness before him crashed on me like leaden bricks on a free fall. I had no one to save me from him. “Please," I begged again, and his fingers stopped in the dip of my cleavage. The coy smile on his face made my blood boil, but what could I do? He stared Intently at me, “I wish to make you scream my name, right here and now, as you can feel,” he said, pushing his erection harder against my stomach, “but I'll let you come to me in due time.” He started touching my face, and I forcefully removed my face from his hand, but he yanked my face back with a scoff. “Listen up, gorgeous, you only have one month to make up your mind. Either you sleep with me, or you give me back a hundred thousand dollars or you get thrown into the streets?” I definitely misheard, "Hundred thousand dollars? But I gave you nine grand two months ago!” I blasted back. “Yeah, that.” He responded calmly, “It slipped my mind to tell you that any amount under ten grand is not counted as repayment to your debt.. It turns out you gave us money for a night out,” and while his minions burst out in fists of laughter at his words, his words lanced through me like a spear, stabbing savagely at my resolve. “This is unfair!” I cried out, tears welling up in my eyes. “Life is very unfair, my dear, but It's going to be very fair sleeping with you when you don't pay back.” He wiped my tears with his calloused palm and licked it. “You'll be so sweet.” He released my arms and walked towards the door, and with a snap of his fingers, his thugs descended on the house with destruction. One brute snatched the artwork from my easel, flaying it to ribbons with a s***h of his blade. I could only watch, numb with horror, as my remaining hope of paying back the debt was shredded before my eyes. They scampered away after causing enough destruction. I sank to the floor, cradling the shredded remnants of my painting against my chest as despair washed over me in crashing waves. How could I possibly gather the hundred grand in one month now? James's anguished groans snapped me from my despondent reverie. I scrambled to his side, helping him back into his wheelchair as he dabbed on his burst lips. His jaw was set, but I could see the anguish burning behind his bruised eyes. "I'm so sorry," I whispered, my voice little more than a broken rasp. "This is all my fault." James squeezed my hand, mustering a pained half-smile. "Don't. He's the monster here, not you." With a weary sigh, he wheeled himself away, leaving me alone with the wreckage. I peered at my mom, a forlorn figure all huddled up at the corner of the battered sofa sobbing. A shadow of herself. My twin little sisters trudged towards me, hiccuping, with tears flowing endlessly from their eyes. I hugged them tightly, "I will find a way to pay up the debts and send you both back to school. okay?" I assured them, with absolutely no clue on what to do next. The next morning, I reported for my shift at the opulent restaurant to ask for a year's salary in advance, but the day ended tragically with me being fired for mistakenly spilling soup on a customer. I ran to Abby's apartment. As I got into her apartment, I let the dam break loose. I don't have to fake strength here. We lay on her bed, my face cradled in the arms of my best friend. "I am tired of everything. Why did he dump so much debt on us? Is it fair? Tell me, " I blubbered while she only stroked my hair, whispering encouraging words. “Abby, I'm not about to use my body to pay my father's debt. I'm not going to sleep with that man.” I told her “You are not going to sleep with him. We are going to raise that money,"Abby encouraged. “How Abby? How? This burden is killing me. I am just twenty-two for Christ's sake, Abby!" I wailed, an oppressive vise seemed to tighten around my very spirit. Tears rolled down Abigail's eyes. "We will find a way, Grey." Her words were like a very cold towel on my scorching emotions. "We are in this together. I told you that I already applied for some high end jobs for you." Her thumbs gently wiped the tears from my cheeks. "For now, we need to get your mind off it for a while. We will go out tonight." I wanted to protest, but Abby's resolve was unflinching. Several drinks and countless bumping bodies later, my worries did seem like a distant murmur drowned out by the pounding bass. Abby moved with free-flowing grace beside me, our hips swaying in sync, clad in tight-fitting crimson gowns that shimmered in the club's pulsing lights. I closed my eyes, losing myself to the rhythms and Abby's infectious laughter. While I'm dancing with Abby, my gaze instantly collides with blazing emerald ones set in ruggedly chiseled features, unmistakably the most striking man I'd ever laid eyes upon. His gaze burns into me while he sips on a drink. He and his friends have girls in various states of undress swarming around them. Tearing my eyes away from him, I turned and continued dancing. I'm laughing hard at Abigail whispering something into my ears when I back up against a firm body. Abby's eyes almost pop out when she sees whoever it is behind me. I gave her a wary look, and she pressed her lips together and smiled backing away. "Dance with me.”
