CHAPTER 1: The Wicked
The warm breeze blew my long hazelnut hair in my face. Soon a rough hand nudges my hair onto my shoulders. I look up to see a man with a soft smile gleaming down on me. He hands me a small clear glass bear that held a red rose in its hands. “Thank you, Papa!” I stated cheerfully. “Amelia,” grabbing my attention from the bear, “always remember no matter how much you fall you always get back up. This world is filled with cruel souls who want to tear you down. Fight to win.” I rush in to hug him as I exclaim, “I love you, Papa! you will always protect me!” “Darling, I can’t fight your battles anymore. Papa pushes me slightly away from him by the arms. “Why?” I ask in confusion. With a sad and painful look he said, “ I love you so much, but….” All of a sudden he starts to fade away. I try to grab a hold of him, but nothing but air fills my cold hands. “Papa! Where did you go?! PAPA!” I yell at the open field of green lush grass. Panic had my stomach in knots. My ears start to ring and I start to feel hot. A dark black, tall human shadow with bright white eyes appear in front of me. It’s skinny arm reached out towards me, so I wouldn’t fall face first onto the ground. A creation made by my father to help protect me according to my him. “Silvano, What happened to papa?” I cry out. “You need to wake up! You and your father need to leave!” Just as fast as he spoke, he disappears along with the field. The ground under me collapses. I fall into a pitch black void of emptiness and despair. FALLING FALLING FALLING Boom! I jolt up in my queen size bed; covered in sweat. Tears drip onto my purple blanket. In the corner of my eye I saw Silvana glitching in and out heading out of my bedroom door. Silvano had a very weird vibe looming on him as he turns right down another hallway. Normally Silvano is a chatter box that doesn’t know how to shut up. The eerie silence lingers in the dark hallway while Silvano points into Papa’s office. “What’s wrong, Silvano?” Silvano shoves the door slightly open to a horrifying appearance of Papa. Papa’s head was smashed into pieces. Scarlet pools on the once grey carpet. “PAPA!” I scream, trying to make my way to him. Out of nowhere someone yanks me from my hair. Pain radiated from the head and behind my eyes. I manage to briefly glace up to see long straight blonde hair, and hazel eyes filled with rage. IT’S MOTHER! She drags me right again down another hallway. The sides get wider as we approach large stairs. “Children are obedient and silent: unless spoken to first!” Mother spits out in hatred. I try to grip a hold of the pale white railing; that was chipping of paint. In on hard kick to my spine I go flying down the stairs. I slam into solid wall causing a crack and pop of my ribs. I gasp for any air to fill my fragile lungs. Before I could collect myself nails dug deeply into my writs. She yanked me behind her as I stumble forward. “You will learn to listen or die,” Mother cackles out in laughter. I try to desperately to loosen her massive hands off of me as I cough out, “STOP!” “Shut up you filthy brat! You always stole your father’s attention! Even from his busy work in that damn lab or office, he always seem to make time for you! That frustrates me! I should of aborted you! No matter the case; I’m in control now!” Mother babels on while she marks all over my arms. She pulls through a massive foyer. The large chandelier shimmers off the grey walls. Mother jerks one of the wooden doors open so hard the mini glass windows shatter. Shards of sharp pointy glass lay all over the floor. Mother is trailing me right in that direction. OH NO! I struggle to carefully tip toe over the glass but Mother wasn’t having that. She kicks my legs from out from under me in one big swoop. The glass embeds into my legs and part of my side. She maneuvers my battered body unto the cold, puffy, white snow. The snow started to slowly turn pink from my blood. I could hardly stand as every part of me was aching. Mother took two of her fingers into her mouth. A high pitch whistle echoes in the freezing atmosphere. Two large brown dogs; baring teeth stand on either side of my mother. Mother wore Papa’s white trench coat. Her tight skin tight jeans had slight holes in them while her black high heels reveal her toes turning a paler color due to the cold. “Töten” Mother growls. Father did a bit of small talk with me about german, but this word of kill was brought up in conversation between mother and father once a long time ago. The dogs foaming at the mouth lunge at me. In a split second Silvano stands between the dogs and me. One dog manages to dig a claw from my forehead, over my eye, and stops at the bottom of my cheek. I cup my face while reaching out for Silvano. “GO! RUN! YOU MUST SURVIVE! I CAN’T LEAVE THIS FACILITY, BUT YOU CAN! YOU MUST GO NOW!” Silvano yells in my head. My throat feels tight and my stomach twists into knots again. I move one way into the cluster of trees. Each foot step leaves blood marks to indicate where I had been. I didn’t care at this point, for I felt so weak and dizzy. The hissing and cries from Silvano will always be etched into my thoughts. I found this odd looking tree that had its branches in a formation of a flat surface, just slightly off the wet ground. I glance up to see thick layer of pine green that provides shelter from the blistering weather. The trees similarities of my dreams gave me a bit of a curiosity and comfort to mind. I need a small break. I told myself as I hoist myself on the flat surface. I felt so cold and numb that the idea of sleep was a great idea. I lay down on my side and curl up in a ball. Tears mixed with snow cover my face. My one eye already swollen shut. My world begins to spin. My vision blurs and stars start to form. I feel like I’m floating away. Warm muscular arms lift me up from the cold tree. The body heat sent tingling sensations down my battered spine. Soon the comfort of a blanket and cushion removes the last bit of chill lingering on me. The numbness subsides while scorching pain radiates from me. I drift in and out of consciousness. With my eyelids sealed tightly. A deep male voice drifts into my ears, “ I can’t just leave her, Sebastian. She is barely clinging to life!” A moment of loud mumbles in the distance before the voice rattles my chest, “I had a gut feeling to make sure she is safe. Plus, I believe since she was near the area of where Dr. Aaron was last located with the kids, she may be of use to us.” Aaron? Why does that name sound familiar? I ponder, but I couldn’t focus to much otherwise my head feels like it may fall off. I once again let the darkness consume me. No feelings No thoughts Nothing
