The Result Day.
Emma could not sleep the entire night after the competition. Her mind was filled with fear and hope at the same time.
The next morning, the school hall was crowded with students waiting for the results. Everyone looked nervous. Emma stood quietly in a corner, holding her mother's old scarf tightly in her hands.
"You seem worried," Daniel said as he walked toward her.
Emma smiled softly. "This competition means everything to me."
Before Daniel could reply, the principal stepped onto the stage with the result sheet in his hands. The entire hall became silent.
"The winner of this year's scholarship competition is..."
Emma's heartbeat became faster.
"...Emma Williams."
For a few seconds, Emma could not believe what she had heard. The students around her started clapping loudly. Tears filled her eyes as she slowly walked toward the stage.
Her hands were shaking when she received the scholarship certificate.
"Your hard work has finally paid off," the principal said proudly.
Emma looked into the crowd and saw Daniel smiling at her. For the first time in her life, she felt truly proud of herself.
After returning home, Emma hugged her mother tightly and showed her the certificate.
Her mother's eyes became wet with happiness.
"I knew you would do it," she whispered emotionally.
That night, Emma looked at the stars outside her window again. But this time, her heart was not filled with sadness.
It was filled with hope for a beautiful future
