Chapter 1
“Why are you this evil? How could you do this to me?” Aria asked running
downstairs
“Don't be such a b***h” Violet said and slammed her room door
“I hate you! mum! mum! mum!! Mum!” Aria called
“What, can't you keep it down? Why are you heading out? You are still grounded. Now, head back inside and to your room” Mrs Whitmore said
“Violet is also grounded, but she can go out and have drinks with her friends at the club? What have I ever done to you? Why do you treat me this way?” Aria asked hurtfully
“We gave you a roof over your head, you lack nothing literary, now stop being a brat and go back upstairs,” Mrs Whitmore said
“Why do you hate me, Mum? Just tell me” Aria said at the verge of tears
“Because I'm not your mom, you were adopted,” Mrs Whitmore shouted angrily
“What is wrong with you, Hannah?” Harry said, opening the front door
“Am I adopted?” Aria said with tears streaming down her face
“Hannah, what have you done?” Harry asked
“What you should have done a long time ago,” Hannah said, not remorseful
Aria’s POV
I couldn't believe it. Although it all made sense, Hannah and her daughter, Violet, had always hated me, but Harry had always been there for me. He was a good father to me.
All these years, I grew up hating myself for being weak and pathetic, and I was always treated like trash even at school; it was like I was never there, like I didn't belong there, and that was when I decided to run away, far from there. I quickly rushed towards the door, forced it open, and ran out with tears streaming down profusely. I was sobbing so hard that my head began to throb.
“Aria! Aria! "Please wait,” I could hear Harry’s voice, but it was too late. I kept running. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I was only nineteen, and none of my IDs were with me, not that it was much of a help. It was getting dark, and the sky was rumbling; it felt like a storm was coming, but I kept going.
The rain had started pouring when I stopped running. I was so tired, breathing so hard, I knew I had to stop and look for shelter, but when I turned back, it was so dark, the thickness, so pitch, fear kicked in. I was in the middle of nowhere, on an endless road, in the forest, and the rain was getting so heavy.
Suddenly, one of the street lamps lit up, and I could see a little, and that was when I heard a growl, not like one, like a pack of them. It felt so wild that my stomach twisted into knots. What was I even thinking? Why did I even run away
I had no idea that there were wild wolves around here. I burst into tears. I was lost, no phone, no water, no shelter, and I knew tears wouldn't help, and that I needed to do something quickly. That was when I decided to go into the forest, but then I saw a black wolf with blue eyes, and it was so beautiful. You could tell it was female; she looked so ethereal in the moonlight, and it was coming closer, slowly but closer, and for some reason, I wasn't really scared; I felt drawn, it came to me and snuggled against my leg.
Then again, I heard another growl, this time it was so loud and close that the wolf nudged me forward as if it were trying to show me the path, and I followed, and we walked through the forest.
Soon after the sound of snapping branches and pounding paws came fast from behind and I knew I had to run even faster wolf leading me surged ahead, and soon after we stopped, I was in the middle of the forest but something caught my attention, a blinding light erupted from a portal, it throbbed with raw power, and an eerie glow spilled from the portal, illuminating the forest. Just then, the pack of wild wolves surrounded me. They were in a circle and slowly walking towards me. The portal was a gateway,
And then it dawned on me that the wolf had led me here, and maybe this was the way out of everything. I carefully faced the portal with the wolf beside me, and as I stepped into the portal, cold energy crawled across my skin. It swallowed me whole. When I emerged from the portal, it had disappeared. My vision was so hazy, but it came back slowly, and painfully shapes bled into existence, a dark twisted silhouette of trees so tall. The air around here felt heavier when I finally understood. I realized it was not the same forest; it was something else entirely.
A new world and it was waiting for me…
Soon after I crouched down, I couldn't wait to explore the garden but I had to rest, the wolf had already run away into the forest so I sat under a tree, the moon was so bright I could see so clearly, but something about it felt off, as if unreal but oddly I felt so relaxed that I thought about taking a little nap, just then, I had a growl. I hugged my knees to my chest, trying not to make a sound, but they came out anyway.
There were four of them, their eyes burned with something inhuman, scars curved across their bodies like ancient battle marks, scarred beasts with glowing eyes and blood-stained fangs, I was so scared I knew they weren't ordinary
“Come out, little one, I can see you clearly,” one of them said. I was so shocked because how could a wolf talk
“She is shaking to death,” the other mocked, and they laughed
The rogue wolves closed in slowly, their growls vibrating, fear wrapped my chest tightly, and I could barely breathe.
Then the wind changed.
A powerful snarl ripped through the woods. Deep. Deadly.
The rogues froze instantly, and from the shadows between the trees, he emerged. The wolf stepped into the moonlight carved from darkness itself, black fur with strands of silver that shimmered beneath the night sky, every movement carried raw power, his piercing golden eyes locked on the rogues, cold and commanding
He stood between the rogues and me, muscles tensing beneath his thick fur as a growl thundered from his chest. It wasn't just a warning, it was a promise of destruction, and without wasting any seconds, they all ran away
I was shocked. It was one against four, and they chose to run? Who was this person?
And for the first time that night, I felt safe…………….
