Chapter Sixteen
Tuesday, 23rd; Evening
Caroline had been away since Thursday last week. It had been a hectic schedule. Her only respite had been to drop off a parcel to Joe’s secretary and a brief visit home for a change of clothes. Joe wasn’t around, he was out playing golf. They had spoken by ‘phone every night but the conversations had been fairly brief and functional as they were both busy.
By Tuesday she was missing him terribly and hoped he felt the same. She had been looking forward to this evening, all day. Now she was settled comfortably in her room.
