Chapter Twenty One Friday, 2nd Mary had booked a table at restaurant out of town with an excellent reputation and prices to match. Originally it was a traditional village pub. It had closed down due to lack of custom, but had recently been rescued from the decay of indifference outside and beautifully refurbished inside. Now it specialised in providing lunches to businessmen on expenses who did not want to be overheard discussing serious financial matters, while their exquisite dinners were targeted at the well-heeled, romantically inclined crowd and to less well-heeled who wanted to push the boat out on special occasions.
