I Said It Because It's True

Nick’s POV I didn’t forget what kissing her feels like—I never could, in a million years. But after thinking I’d never get to again, doing it now feels even better. I want nothing more than to keep kissing her—to kiss her so deeply, the rest of the world disappears around us—to bury myself in her, mind, body, and soul—to escape the pain and fear of what has become our reality to a place where all that exists is us, together—as one. I don’t, though. That’s what I need from her right now, but not what she needs from me. So I pull gently away from her and offer her the best smile I can muster. “You should get some sleep.” There’s a gleam of disappointment in her eyes that comforts my aching heart, but she looks grateful, too; she’s exhausted. “Okay. But will you stay with me?” Stay wit
