Sophie and I briefly examined the other body noticing the same inconsistencies pretty quickly. We did a bite comparison and had the results waiting for the elders when they arrived. Sophie also pulled a host of other pieces of evidence the police missed and stashed them away for her to research and share with me later.
Sophie and Sascha were sitting at the desk spinning in chairs when the elders finally graced them with their presence.
“It’s rude to keep the Queen waiting for so long,” Sascha snapped, eyeing the three of them suspiciously. Why in bloody hell are you over an hour late.”
“If you weren’t so self absorbed and bothered to keep up with the stuff going on in the world around you then you would know there was a massive explosion downtown. They are saying something must not have been up to code and triggered the explosion. The brand new Renaissance Towers building is nothing but a pile of rubble. Traffic is a nightmare,” Allijah snarled.
“I don’t suppose you had a hand in the destruction and devastation?” Aldrick asked, winking discreetly at Sascha.
If only he knew the truth, Sascha thought to herself secretly gloating that not only had she bested that annoying t**t Michael, but she had also inconvenienced the elders, and put a massive damper on Allijah’s day.
Sascha rolled her eyes at them both, “first of all is that anyway to speak to your Queen,” she hissed showing her fangs, “and secondly does it look like my handy work? Was I there with a container of gasoline and matches? No, in fact I was here with Sophie waiting on you three who are apparently all incapable of using your self absorbed brains to pick up a phone and let me know you’ll be late!”
Sascha took great delight in twisting Allijah’s insult back on him. She was trying very hard to keep a rotten grin from spreading ear to ear, satisfied that Vlad had carried things out so quickly. He clearly anticipated Sascha’s requests and was just waiting on the offer for extra money to come through before making a move. If Sascha could compare him to an animal it really would be a vulture.
She drummed her fingers angrily on the desk. The clicking of her nails was the only sound in the room as the three elders seemingly held their breath waiting for someone to make the next move. Sophie watched on in delight. She tried her best not to smirk at the way Sascha was besting them at their own little games. Sophie had always admired Sophie. In each lifetime they walked together despite their differences they had always been there for one another. Sascha can be cold, but she also values family and she will stop at nothing to keep her family safe. Finally it was Sascha who broke the silence delivering a hard gaze as her cold words snapped through the air.
“Well as riveting as this little chat has been, while you three were dragging your feet Sophie and I have been here working the entire time,” Sascha snickered, throwing the file with copies of the bite comparison at Allijah.
Of course Sascha isn’t new at their games, she would never give them an original file or the only copy of anything. Allijah and Augustus can be very good at losing things when it is convenient for them.
“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve grown tired of this conversation and I will be headed out for some lunch. I am sure you will find sufficient evidence exonerating my name. No worries, I don’t expect an apology, Sascha sneered, and stormed off.
She paused tuning only for a moment to thank Sophie for her help.
