The entry
Nadia's heart raced as she hurried toward the steel gate of the pack, desperately trying to avoid drawing any attention to herself on her first day as a student. The pack's security measures were notoriously tight, and it took her several agonizing minutes before she was finally granted access to the hallowed grounds of Mindaro Place.
Despite her desire to immerse herself in the academy and enjoy her time there, her mind was clouded by a whirlwind of thoughts stemming from the events that had transpired before she arrived at the academy. Her parents, the very people she feared the most, had instructed their men to drop her off outside the pack's premises. They had made it clear that she was free to pursue her own interests, but she was never to forget their expectations and demands. This was not the first time she found herself living alone, as she was an adoptive child of her fearsome parents, who had provided for her basic needs while imposing their own agenda upon her. Nadia harbored a deep-seated resistance against their desires, but now, within the confines of the pack, she felt trapped and unable to escape their influence.
Mindaro Academy was a boarding school, and her parents had meticulously arranged every aspect of her enrollment and accommodation. However, she held a strong aversion to sharing her living space with others, preferring the solitude of her own company. The prospect of having a roommate remained uncertain, and it gnawed at her, adding another layer of unease to an already tumultuous situation.
As she walked, her footsteps hurried and determined, Nadia couldn't help but contemplate the path that had led her to this point. She questioned her own agency and wondered if there was anything she could have done differently to defy her parents' plans. But now, faced with the reality of her situation, she felt powerless to resist. The die had been cast, and she found herself reluctantly playing the role assigned to her.
Finally arriving at the academy's entrance gate, Nadia's eyes scanned her surroundings. The pouring rain, relentless and unforgiving, served as a constant reminder of her vulnerability. Most of the other students had arrived comfortably in their cars, shielded from the elements. Some cast disdainful glances in her direction, their perfectly made-up faces reflecting their judgment. Nadia met their gaze fleetingly, refusing to be deterred by their superficial scrutiny. She continued her determined march toward the man stationed in the waiting shed at the entrance.
"Arggg!" she exclaimed, her frustration reverberating in the air. The sound of her own voice cut through the noise of the rain pounding on the pavement. It was a miserable day, and she found herself unprotected, vulnerable to the elements. Yet, she trudged on, determined to reach her destination despite the downpour.
Walking along the sidewalk, she watched as cars whizzed by on the crowded street. With each passing vehicle, she hoped for a kind soul to offer her a ride, or at least for someone to accept payment to get her to where she needed to be. But her pleas fell on deaf ears, and she was left to face the relentless rain alone.
"Please... just stop," she whispered, her voice barely audible above the storm. Desperation crept into her words as she stood still, drenched and defeated. The academy she was headed to remained minutes away, according to her phone's directions. In addition to enduring the treacherous journey, she carried a heavy bag containing the essentials for her stay at the academy.
As the rain poured down harder, a glimmer of hope caught her eye. Across the street, a waiting shed offered temporary shelter from the relentless downpour. Knowing that she needed to cross the street to reach the academy, she made a split-second decision and darted forward, paying no heed to the traffic that might be coming her way. Her focus was solely on reaching the haven across the road.
Almost reaching the end of the lane, her heart sank as a sudden blast of a horn pierced through the clamor of raindrops. Time seemed to slow as she turned her head toward the source of the sound. Her eyes widened in horror as she saw a black car hurtling towards her, mere meters away. The world around her faded into the background as fear gripped her heart.
In that split second, a whirlwind of emotions engulfed her. Panic surged through her veins, causing her heart to race. Regret washed over her, regret for not being more cautious and for risking her life in this desperate attempt to escape the rain. She felt an overwhelming sense of vulnerability, realizing the fragility of her existence in the face of the speeding car.
Her survival instincts kicked in, and she lunged forward with every ounce of strength she had left. Adrenaline coursed through her body, heightening her senses. The screeching of tires, the sound of her own labored breathing, and the beat of her pounding heart merged into a cacophony of fear.
By some stroke of luck, she narrowly avoided the oncoming car, feeling a rush of wind as it whizzed past her. She stumbled and fell, her body trembling from the shock. Tears mixed with raindrops on her face as she lay on the wet pavement, shaken but alive.
Nadia’s heart pounded in her chest, racing like wild stallions as the adrenaline coursed through her veins. The near miss with the car had shaken her to her core, although she knew that such an impact would hardly affect her. After all, she was a she-wolf, a creature of strength and resilience. Yet, at that moment, vulnerability seeped through her fierce exterior.
The window of the black car remained tainted, obscuring her view of the driver inside. She could only imagine the face behind the glass, hidden from her eyes. Breathing heavily, she stared intently at the driver's seat, waiting for the man to step out of the vehicle, to face the consequences of his reckless actions. But he remained inside, his presence felt through the blaring horn that shattered the stillness of the rainy street.
The second blast of the horn reverberated in her ears, the sound piercing through her eardrums like a siren's wail. It was longer, louder, and more aggressive than before. Anger flared within her, stoking the fires of indignation. This man, with his careless driving and his disregard for her safety, had ignited a flame within her.
"You!" she shouted, her finger pointing accusingly at the driver, even though she couldn't clearly see his face through the obscured window. The people passing by turned their heads in her direction, their curiosity piqued by the spectacle unfolding before them. She knew that her soaked clothes and defiant stance were enough to attract anyone's attention. But she didn't back down.
At that moment, she stood her ground in the middle of the lane, rain cascading down upon her without mercy. She refused to yield, to let the car pass by and fade into the distance. Her wet hair clung to her face, framing her determination and resolve. She would not be ignored, not after the scare she had just experienced.
The confrontation between the she-wolf and the driver became a battle of wills, an unspoken challenge hanging in the air. Time seemed to stretch as the rain continued to pour, soaking everything around her. The sounds of the city faded into the background, leaving only the pounding of her heart and the static tension between her and the driver.
Her defiance held a power of its own, a force that demanded acknowledgment and justice. She was a symbol of strength, refusing to be a victim in the face of adversity. The onlookers felt the weight of her presence, the intensity of her emotions radiating through the air. They watched, captivated by the unfolding drama, unsure of how it would resolve.
At that moment, her soaked clothes and drenched appearance were not signs of defeat but of resilience. She embodied a spirit that could not be broken, a spirit that persevered even in the face of danger. The rain continued to pour, its relentless assault mirrored by her unwavering determination.
As the standoff continued, a flicker of something stirred within her. It was not just anger that fueled her, but a spark of defiance, a defiance that demanded justice and refused to be silenced. She would not back down. She would stay in that lane, a testament to her strength and her refusal to be a mere victim of circumstances.
The man's relentless honking grated on her nerves, intensifying her frustration. Each blaring horn pierced through her, a constant reminder of his disregard for her safety and his insensitivity to her plight. Nadia's patience wore thin, worn away by the repeated onslaught of noise.
Feeling humiliated by the presence of onlookers witnessing her vulnerable state, Nadia made a decision. Determined to confront the driver, to assert herself and defend her right to be treated with respect, she walked purposefully towards the passenger side of the car. It wasn't her fault; she had done nothing wrong. The man behind the steering wheel should have exercised caution, especially considering they were within the pack's territory.
The sound of the car horn echoed once again, reverberating through the rain-soaked air. It was the breaking point for Nadia, her patience shattered into fragments. Without a second thought, she took swift action. Ignoring the relentless downpour and the sorry state of her drenched clothes, she retrieved a marker from the outer pocket of her bag.
Determined to leave a lasting message, a word that encapsulated her disdain for the man inside the car, Nadia pressed the marker against the glass of the passenger seat window. Raindrops mingled with the ink as she scrawled the chosen word, an epitaph of the driver's inconsiderate behavior. The act of writing, of etching her anger onto the surface, brought a momentary catharsis.
"Jerk!" she shouted, her voice filled with righteous indignation. Her words carried her conviction and echoed in the rain-soaked street. Without giving the man another glance, she turned away, her steps quickening as she walked as fast as her soaked clothes allowed. Determined to leave the unpleasant encounter behind, she resisted the urge to look back, to see the reaction she had provoked.
At that moment, Nadia's actions spoke volumes. Her defiance and refusal to be silenced were palpable. The word on the window, drenched in rain, held the weight of her emotions. She had reclaimed her power, even in the face of humiliation. As she walked away, her heart pounded with a mixture of satisfaction and lingering frustration, knowing that she had stood up for herself, even in the most challenging circumstances.
As Nadia trudged through the rain-soaked path towards the entrance gate of the academy, her emotions were a tumultuous mix of exhaustion, frustration, and a lingering sense of vulnerability. Each raindrop that soaked through her clothes seemed to seep into her very soul, intensifying her feelings of isolation. The sight of empty sidewalks, devoid of the usual chatter and laughter of students, only served to deepen her sense of desolation.
The passing cars, shielded from the rain by their metal shells, seemed to mock her as they sped by, their drivers too preoccupied with their own comfort to offer even a modicum of sympathy. The few individuals who dared to crack open their windows only did so to cast disdainful glances in her direction, their judgmental eyes piercing through her already fragile state. It was as if the makeup-clad women believed that their cosmetic perfection granted them the right to belittle and scorn someone who dared to face the rain's wrath.
Yet, Nadia refused to let their disdain consume her. She merely glanced in their direction, her eyes hardened with a resilience born of countless battles fought within her own heart. Determined to rise above their petty judgments, she pressed on towards the waiting shed, her footsteps steady but laden with weariness.
The man in the shed, positioned as the gatekeeper to the sanctuary of education, greeted her with a cold detachment that mirrored the rain-soaked environment.
"A student?" He asked. It seemed more like an interrogation than a simple inquiry. The lack of warmth in his tone only served to further isolate Nadia, reminding her once again of the harsh realities she faced.
Uncertain of what was expected of her, Nadia stammered.
"Yes," her voice carried a tinge of vulnerability that she tried desperately to conceal.
“Papers?”
“Papers? What papers?”
The man's demand for "papers" bewildered her, catching her off guard like a sudden gust of wind that threatened to blow her off balance. In her overwhelmed state, the concept of papers had escaped her consciousness, lost amidst the whirlwind of thoughts and emotions that raged within her.
Seeking solace from the relentless downpour, the man's invitation to enter the shed acted as a lifeline for Nadia. His words held a glimmer of compassion, a recognition of her plight, urging her to seek shelter from the storm both outside and within her own mind. As she stepped into the refuge of the waiting shed, the reality of her drenched state finally registered, jolting her out of her mental haze.
Her mind now burdened by the near-miss encounter with a speeding car and her own impatience, Nadia struggled to process the series of events that had led her to this moment. She had become so absorbed in her own inner turmoil that she had forgotten the very physical discomfort she sought refuge from. Raindrops continued to fall around her, a reminder that even in the sanctuary of the shed, the storm still raged on.
As the man opened the gate, he allowed Nadia to seek shelter in the same shed. He momentarily left her side, as his responsibility required him to open the gates for cars to enter the academy. He left the gate open after doing so. While attending to the incoming vehicles, the man also checked for the papers of the supposed students. Nadia assumed that these papers were the confirmation sent to them by the Alpha of the pack, a figure of authority.
Although there were already a number of cars present, Nadia remained in the shed since she needed to hand over her own papers to the man. She observed that whenever students gave their papers to him, he would provide them with a key. However, she had no understanding of the purpose behind these keys, leaving her curious and uncertain.
