Episode 2: The Spark Ignites

293 Words
Ethan followed Sophia through the labyrinth of pathways that wove between lecture halls, dormitories, and recreational spaces. She spoke effortlessly, pointing out key buildings while cracking jokes about campus life. Ethan listened intently, absorbing her words like a sponge, though he couldn’t shake the nervous flutter in his chest. “So, what are you studying?” Sophia asked, glancing back at him. “Engineering,” Ethan replied. “You?” “Fine Arts,” she said, her eyes lighting up. “I love creating. Painting, drawing, you name it.” Ethan nodded, unsure how to respond. Art seemed so distant from his world of calculations and blueprints, yet her passion was palpable. They reached the dormitory block, and Sophia stopped in front of a worn, metal door. “This is your stop,” she said with a grin. “Room 12B. Welcome to your new home.” “Thanks, Sophia,” Ethan said, his voice sincere. “I really appreciate your help.” “No problem! If you ever need anything, you know where to find me.” She gave him a playful wave and disappeared down the hallway. Ethan pushed the door open to find a single bed, a desk, and a bookshelf. His roommate, Kevin Oduor, was already sprawled on the other bed, scrolling on his phone. “Fresh meat!” Kevin declared with a chuckle. “I’m Kevin. And you are?” “Ethan,” he replied, dropping his suitcase by the bed. That night, as Ethan lay in the unfamiliar room, he found his thoughts drifting to Sophia. Her laughter, her energy—it lingered in his mind like the first lines of a story yet to be written. Little did he know, this spark was only the beginning.
