CHAPTER 63 A LARGE CROWD GATHERS at the entrance to Begert. At 1200, Air Force buses arrive to take the reporters and students to the athletic field. Security checks each person for weapons and scans their IDs before allowing them to board the bus. Within minutes, the bleachers fill. Students congregate in one general area. Many wear college apparel, and all appear excited. Journalists and anchors scatter across the stands. They speak only to their team members, focused on the breaking story and fiercely competitive with the other networks. Camera technicians and grips work to set up their equipment.
