ADMIRAL PARKER AND GENERAL Taylor stand at the far side of the conference room. Taylor talks on his phone with General Flammang. “Yes, sir, precautions are in place. We remain at FPCON Charlie.” He motions for Parker to come nearer. “Yes, he’s here beside me.” He puts the phone on speaker.
General Flammang’s voice comes over loud and clear, “Give him my hello.”
“Will do, sir.”
“I’ll adjust my return flight and will fly north to visit Begert before returning to D.C. Should arrive early afternoon.”
“It’s an honor to receive you, sir. We’ll be ready.”
The general disconnects and turns to the admiral. “Just as we hoped. General Flammang is coming. He’ll leave Pendleton immediately after addressing the troops. Said he didn’t sleep much last night as he stayed up reading our thr
