CHAPTER 35 PARKER AND TAYLOR drive to the general’s office. On the way, they pass Building 36. A large truck sits in the driveway, filled with the remains of the house: lumber, window panes, flooring, and roofing. Other than scattered pieces of debris on the lawn, nothing remains. Taylor grins. “Quite the sight. They must’ve had fun this afternoon.” Then he uses the vehicle blue-tooth to call the new secretary. “Hello, General Taylor here, could I speak with Secretary Dobson, please?” The assistant replies, “Please hold the line.” Almost straight away, Dobson comes on. “Hello, Secretary Dobson. General Taylor at Begert Air Force Base.” Dobson’s voice sounds cautious, “Yes, General?” “You offered to send a team on Friday to demolish Quarters 36.” “Correct. It’s the least we can do.”
