Ethan envied Maurice and Hacki leaving for town. The set of emotions were similar to being left behind when a mate made bail. Peel Inlet was neither a prison nor a sentence of hard labour, but still Ethan felt abandoned in the trenches. He wanted to escape to town and feel again the company of his squad and that of normal people who lived out of harm’s way.
