KALISIA
I leaned up on my bed, and of course, Devon is gone again. I stretched a bit, then leaned over and grabbed my phone off of my end table. I can actually text him this time. I unlocked my phone, pulled up my texts, and saw one unread by Devon.
"Oh, he texted me yay!" I opened the message.
'Had the most amazing evening with you.
Can't wait to see you at school.
Devon xx'
He sent it about an hour ago. Oh my gosh! He didn't say anything about last night though. I have to text him back.
I began to text back '...and night as well. You could have stayed longer...'
Beep, beep... just in the middle of me texting back Devon, I started getting spammed with texts.
"Who the hell is spam texting me?" I said, as I stopped the text reply to Devon and opened the random texts I was getting.
'Hello BEST FRIEND.'
I replied to the text. 'Who is this?'
'Why Ashlee you silly nilly.
Who else?'
Oh, lovely, just the person I want to talk to right now... not.
'How did you get my number?' I texted back.
'Devon, duh. What time do you want me to pick you up tonight to go shopping?'
How could I forget about shopping with Ashlee? It was only on the top of my list of things I wanted to never do.
'I'd like to go home and do a few things first you can pick me up there at say 5?' I gave in and replied back. I was not feeling like arguing. Before, I was thinking of backing down on her at the last second; but I did like her taste of clothing, and I really did need a dress.
'Okie dokie. See you then!
What's the address?'
'222 Melview Dr' I replied.
'Ooh, fancy. I guess that's what you get when you have a teacher for a dad.
See you then!
xoxo'
I threw myself backwards onto my bed with my hands up knocking the phone out of them onto the bed and grumbled. I had never had a friend or any other girls to hang out with or talk to, only my mom, so yet another thing I know nothing about. I don't know how to small talk or gossip or know anything about having a friend or 'hanging out'. I'm just going to embarrass myself and look like an i***t.
I pulled myself back up and out of bed. "I am so not ready for this."
I reached over and grabbed my phone off of the bed to check the time. "Shoot, I'm late. I don't have time to text Devon back." I'll just have to talk to him at school. I ran to my closet and grabbed whatever I could that looked clean. Dad was not a laundry person, and I have been so distracted, I hadn't found the time to do any.
I settled for an aqua and gray colored chevron silk long-sleeved thigh-length blouse, some gray tights, black knee-high boots, and a navy button up long jacket. It wasn't very matching, but it was nice looking. I ran out the door and downstairs knowing dad was going to be furious that I was late.
He was standing there waiting for me in the living room, pacing back and forth.
"There you are! We're going to be late."
"Um, dad? Why are you wearing what you wore yesterday?" Looks like I wasn't the only one who was a little behind this morning.
"Oh, yeah. Um, be right back." He took off running to the laundry room.
That was weird.
You know now that I think about it; I don't remember dad's car being in the driveway last night...
My thought was interrupted by him running back into the living room with just a different white button up shirt on. This one had a tiny stain on the neck collar. Was that a lipstick stain?!
"Okaaaaay, let's go go." He grabbed his coat off the coat rack and started to open the front door.
"Wait, dad. Ashlee wanted to take me shopping later for a dress. Is that okay?"
"Yes, yeah sure, perfect. Let's go." And he took off out the door without even looking back at me.
Why was he acting so strange? Oh well.
KALISIA
The entire car ride was very strange; Dad didn't say one thing to me. Usually in the mornings, he's the most chatty, but he sped all the way to school. I had never seen him go over the speed limit either. I felt like he was avoiding something, and I wanted to know what the something was. But right when I decided to finally ask him what was going on, we were already pulling up into the parking lot.
We both got out of the car at the same time, but he ran over to my side right away. I jumped at him being right in front of me, and I stared at him as he was sweating profusely.
"Dad are you okay?" He was leaned over me breathing heavily. He bent over and gave me a quick hug, "Dad?!" I screeched in shock. I looked around to see if anyone noticed him hugging me, but no one was looking our way.
"Okay, I have to run sweetie see you inside." Then with that, he was off. He never responded to my question asking if he was okay. He clearly wasn't.
Geez, what is up with him?
I slammed my door shut, threw my backpack on my back, and started to the sidewalk.
"There you are, beautiful." I heard the sexiest voice behind me. I took a deep breath and turned around. "How would you like to go out tonight?"
"Actually, I have a girl date." I stated matter-of-factly.
"Girl date? With whom?"
I giggled. "You might know her. Ashlee."
He seemed startled, but after he thought about it, his expression loosened up.
"You're choosing to go on a date with 'Ashlee' over this." He flexed his arm at me and pointed at his biceps.
"Unless, you want to pick out and try on dresses with me." I teased.
He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I think I'll pass."
"I thought so."
"Well, I better get in. You ladies have fun then."
"Text me later sugarcakes." He yelled at me as he walked off meeting up with Jason standing with some other guys by the stairs.
Sugarcakes?
That was weird; he didn't offer to walk me in or act like we spent yet a second night together in my bed.
