"Xiaoyi, don’t tell me you’ve really fallen for Yexi?" Seeing Su Yixia’s contemplative face, Jingjing’s expression slowly turned darker. "Xiaoyi, can you please not like Yexi?"
From Jingjing’s sad tone, Su Yixia could tell that Jingjing had feelings for Yexi as well. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so upset, right?
"Jingjing, I don’t like Yexi!" Su Yixia hesitated for just a moment before seriously telling Jingjing, "The only person I like is Cheng Nuo. I will only love Cheng Nuo for the rest of my life!"
"Xiaoyi, I knew it! You’re not the kind of person who changes easily!" Jingjing instantly smiled after hearing Su Yixia’s words. "Xiaoyi, can I visit your house?"
"You want to come to my house?" Su Yixia was surprised.
"Yeah!" Jingjing nodded thoughtfully and then suddenly smiled foolishly. "Xiaoyi, if you live with Yexi, then I’ll have the chance to interact with him more often!"
"Jingjing, do you have a crush on Yexi?" Su Yixia asked, frowning.
"Mm~" Jingjing shyly nodded. "Xiaoyi, you have to help me this time, help me pursue him, okay?"
After a brief hesitation, Su Yixia smiled and nodded. "Okay!"
But in her heart, there was no joy at all. She didn’t know why, but hearing that Jingjing also liked Yexi made her feel so empty inside.
When Su Yixia brought Jingjing home, her mother was cooking, and Su Qian was sitting on the couch reading a book.
"Auntie, hello~" Jingjing smiled awkwardly when she walked in, her eyes scanning the surroundings, but there was no sign of Yexi. She was puzzled. "Where’s Yexi?"
"Yexi?" Su Yixia’s mother came out with a dish. "He went out. He said he won’t be back tonight."
"Not coming back?" Jingjing’s face fell. "Why is it that he’s not home the moment I come over?"
"Mom, where did he go?" For some reason, Su Yixia suddenly had a bad feeling.
"I don’t know; he didn’t say." Her mom replied.
At that moment, Su Qian chimed in, "Sis, Yexi said he was going to meet his brother, Zuochuan!"
"Zuochuan?" Su Yixia shuddered at the mention of that name, a scene flashing through her mind: Yexi’s hands shackled with silver chains, his face contorted in pain as he was locked in a truck.
"Oh no!" All of a sudden, Su Yixia’s eyes widened, and she ran out of the house.
"Xiaoyi! Xiaoyi, where are you going?" Her mother and Jingjing called after her in surprise, but Su Yixia had already rushed out the door.
...
In the Zuo Corporation office, Yexi and Zuochuan stood face-to-face. Yexi looked at Zuochuan with an expressionless face and asked, "Why did you call me here?"
"Yexi, you should understand by now. Everything I do is for your own good," Zuochuan replied, staring at Yexi meaningfully.
"Zuochuan, stop beating around the bush. Just say what you have to say," Yexi sneered. "Don’t think I don’t know your true purpose for calling me here!"
"Smart as always!" Zuochuan raised his thumb in approval. "You truly are my dear brother!"
"Did you steal the blood bags from the hospital?" Yexi cut straight to the point. "Why did you do it?"
"To protect you!" Zuochuan answered without hesitation. "That human girl, Su Yixia—I’m convinced she’ll eventually lead to your death. So, I must find a way to send her away!"
"But I won’t let you do that!" Yexi responded firmly.
"So, you decided to move in with them before I could make a move?" Zuochuan looked at Yexi with displeasure. "Do you really think living with them will protect her? Do you really think this will stop me?"
"Zuochuan, I can help your company, or I can destroy it!" Yexi’s voice turned cold. "I’ll handle my own business; you’d better not interfere!"
"Yexi, this time, it’s out of your hands!" As soon as Zuochuan finished speaking, a silver chain suddenly dropped from above. Yexi instinctively raised his head but forgot to dodge. The chain wrapped around his neck, burning his skin and causing smoke to rise as Yexi collapsed to the ground in agony. "Zuochuan, how could you do this to me?"
Silver chains are one of the deadliest weapons against vampires, capable of inflicting severe harm and even killing them.
"Yexi, I’m doing this for your own good!" Zuochuan furrowed his brow. He didn’t want to go this far, but he had no choice. He couldn’t let a human girl ruin Yexi, let alone destroy his company.
At the entrance of Zuo Corporation, Su Yixia rushed inside. The receptionist tried to stop her. "Miss, who are you looking for?"
"Sorry, I work here!" Su Yixia quickly showed the work badge Zuochuan had given her earlier. "Mr. Zuo asked for me!"
Before the receptionist could react, Su Yixia darted into the elevator, closing the door behind her.
Her gut told her that Yexi was in Zuochuan’s office.
"Don’t forget, Yexi, vampires are incredibly powerful!" Yexi’s eyes suddenly turned blood-red, and two sharp fangs emerged from his mouth. Enduring the pain from the silver chain, he grabbed it with both hands and yanked it off. His skin began to heal, and his injuries disappeared.
"Yexi, you…" Zuochuan was stunned. He hadn’t expected Yexi to be this strong, and his face darkened.
"Zuochuan, don’t let me catch you doing this again, or I won’t spare you!" Yexi marched toward Zuochuan, grabbed his neck, and bared his fangs menacingly.
"Yexi, I’m your brother!" Zuochuan had never seen Yexi so furious before, but he remained calm. He didn’t believe Yexi would actually harm him.
"Yexi!" The office door suddenly burst open, and a panting Su Yixia rushed in.
But the scene before her left her stunned. She saw Yexi holding Zuochuan by the throat, with a pained expression on Zuochuan’s face. Yexi’s back was to her, so she couldn’t see his face, but she could feel an intense, cold aura emanating from him.
"Yexi, what are you doing?" Su Yixia shouted in shock, horrified that Yexi seemed ready to kill.
Yexi’s fangs instantly retracted, and his blood-red eyes returned to their usual deep blue. He let go of Zuochuan’s neck and turned to Su Yixia. "This is a private matter between me and Zuochuan. It has nothing to do with you!"
"Ye Xi, you're truly despicable! You even attacked your own brother. You're nothing but scum!" Su Yixia couldn't believe how cruel Ye Xi was. How could he harm his own brother? Suddenly, she felt ridiculous. Why had she rushed over, worried about him? Was Ye Xi even worth her concern?
Besides, this jerk Ye Xi had caused her breakup with Cheng Nuo. Why should she care what happens to him?
Even if something did happen to him, so what?
Ye Xi’s handsome face instantly turned ice-cold. Annoyed, he spun around and walked toward Su Yixia. "You seem to really know me well. Yes, I may be despicable and low, but you’ve only got it half right. Here’s the important truth—you forget, I’m not even human."
"Right, you're worse than an animal!" Su Yixia shouted angrily.
Seeing how much Su Yixia despised Ye Xi, Zuo Chuan suddenly felt his worries might be unnecessary. As long as Su Yixia and Ye Xi stayed at odds, things would be fine.
It seemed that what he needed to do now was ensure they remained enemies.
"You said I'm worse than an animal, didn’t you?" This time, Ye Xi was truly furious. He strode over to Su Yixia, grabbed her hand tightly, and glared at her with fierce intensity.
Ye Xi's terrifying gaze made Su Yixia shudder. Only then did she realize she was playing with fire.
Ye Xi was a demon. How could she provoke him?!
"Stupid girl, come with me!" Ye Xi was barely suppressing his anger. He gripped her hand tightly, forcefully dragging her out of the room.
"Hey, let me go! Let me go!" Su Yixia struggled to shake him off, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t break free. She was almost screaming at this point.
But Ye Xi remained silent, his face cold, gripping her hand with no intention of letting go.
And just like that, Su Yixia was dragged out of the Zuo Corporation building by Ye Xi in a flash.
Walking down the nighttime street, Su Yixia, still held tightly by Ye Xi, grew increasingly frustrated. She finally shouted, "Let go of me! Let me go! Help! There’s a creep here!"
Ye Xi’s eyes flashed with light, and in the next instant, a massive truck collided with a small car right in front of them, causing a chain reaction of accidents. It was as if the crash had been waiting for them.
Though it was nighttime, the sky suddenly brightened, as if it were daylight.
Su Yixia’s heart was pounding in her chest. She felt as if, if she took one more step, she would be hit by one of the vehicles and sent flying.
She also had another strange feeling—this crash wasn’t an accident. It was almost as if it had been orchestrated. She distinctly remembered the truck turning earlier. How had it suddenly ended up on this side? And why had the sky gotten so bright?
What was happening?!
"Scared?" To Ye Xi, humans were always so fragile. Just a little danger was enough to terrify them.
"Ye Xi, where are you taking me?" Su Yixia’s voice trembled, her fear growing.
