"Cheng Nuo, your...your eyes?" Cheng Nuo's mother was startled by the sudden terrifying change in his eyes.
"Mom, I'm fine!" Cheng Nuo quickly returned to a normal appearance, smiling faintly, "Mom, you must have seen it wrong!"
"Cheng Nuo!" His mother blinked and, after another glance at him, realized his eyes were indeed normal. Relieved, she muttered, "You really scared me just now!"
"Mom, I'll head upstairs to pack my things!" Cheng Nuo smiled and turned to go upstairs.
In his room, Cheng Nuo closed the door and clenched his fist tightly. He hadn’t expected Xu Yue to insist on holding her birthday party in his house. Did she really think of this place as her own home?
Fine, he thought, let’s see what kind of nonsense Xu Yue plans to pull.

At lunchtime, Su Yixia and Jingjing arrived at the cafeteria together. Ye Xi, unable to eat, had made an excuse and left. Unexpectedly, in the cafeteria, they ran into Ye Zimo!
Ye Zimo, holding a lunch tray, strutted up to Su Yixia and Jingjing with arrogance, looking down at Jingjing. "Jingjing, did you know your lead role has been taken from you?"
"Ye Zimo, stop it!" Jingjing retorted sharply, "Didn't you fail to seduce my boyfriend last time?"
Although there weren’t many people in the cafeteria at the time, some overheard the exchange, and soon curious glances were thrown Ye Zimo’s way.
"Let me tell you, Jingjing!" Ye Zimo was furious, "Leng Muhan has agreed. This time, the lead role is mine!"
"Oh, I see you’ve switched your target, seducing Leng Muhan now!" Jingjing’s courage was bolstered by Su Yixia’s presence, making her more confrontational than usual.
Ye Zimo was livid, grabbing her lunch tray and flinging its contents at Jingjing's face. "You b****, what did you say?"
Although Su Yixia usually preferred to avoid unnecessary conflict, she couldn’t stand idly by while her friend was being treated so poorly. At Kingsley Academy, Jingjing was her best—and only—friend. Without hesitation, Su Yixia grabbed a lunch tray from a nearby student and hurled its contents at Ye Zimo. "That’s what you get for not respecting others!"
"Su Yixia!" Ye Zimo was livid, wiping the food off her face. She pointed at Su Yixia and cursed, "You slut! Just a woman Cheng Nuo played with. I bet Ye Xi is playing you too! Do you really think you’re that pretty?"
"Being prettier than you is enough!" Su Yixia replied calmly.
"You b****!" Ye Zimo, enraged, raised her hand to slap Su Yixia.
But something strange happened. Her hand swung toward her own face.
"Stop it! Make it stop!" she screamed in horror as her hand kept slapping her face uncontrollably.
The few students nearby, watching, couldn't help but snicker. "Is Ye Zimo crazy? She's hitting herself!"
"Jingjing, let's go eat." Su Yixia ignored Ye Zimo’s embarrassing predicament, took Jingjing by the arm, and led her to the food line. After getting their meals, they sat down to eat.
"Yixia, what's wrong with Ye Zimo?" Jingjing asked, puzzled.
"I have no idea!" Su Yixia shrugged.
"Yixia!" Jingjing frowned. "Haven't you noticed things have been getting weirder lately?"
"What's wrong?" Su Yixia pretended to know nothing and raised her head to ask.
"I don't know why, but everything just feels strange!" Jingjing said, feeling uneasy, as if something bad was going to happen. "Yixia, if something happens to me one day, will you be sad?"
Jingjing's words reminded Su Yixia of her mother's death and of Su Qian’s current plight. Her expression turned solemn. "Jingjing, I won’t let anything happen to you!"
"Yixia, I was just joking! Look at you, getting all serious!" Jingjing giggled and continued eating, while in the background, Ye Zimo was still slapping herself.
Outside the laboratory.
Ye Xi arrived there alone.
This time, he hadn’t told Su Yixia because he didn’t want her joining him in this risky venture.
Taking a deep breath, Ye Xi leapt up to the rooftop.
Inside the lab, Su Qian was strapped to an experimental table.
Medical staff, wearing masks, were drawing blood and injecting her with something.
Su Qian screamed in agony. "Aah! Let me go!"
"We’ve just injected a highly toxic serum," one of the medical personnel said, holding a syringe with a smirk. "I wonder if it will work on a vampire?"
"Let’s observe," another replied.
Seconds later, Su Qian’s pale face began to turn black and purple, her expression contorting in pain. "Let me go! Let me go!"
"It seems to be working!" one of the staff members said, frowning at the change in Su Qian’s condition.
But in an instant, the black and purple color faded, and Su Qian’s face returned to its pale hue, as if the substance had no lasting effect.
"It’s still not working!" one of the medics shook his head. "Let’s see if I can pull out her teeth to study further!"
The medic grabbed a pair of pliers and moved toward Su Qian’s mouth, prying it open to extract her fangs. But Su Qian suddenly clamped her jaws shut, biting the medic’s hand.
The medic yelped in pain, but Su Qian didn’t let go until the others managed to free the medic's hand, by which time the skin was nearly torn off!
"Hahaha!" Su Qian laughed maniacally, "Let me go, or I’ll bite all of you!"
Ye Xi, crouched on the rooftop, listened to everything happening in the lab, thanks to his enhanced hearing. Silently, he leapt down to the window, slipped inside the lab, and hid behind the equipment.
He moved so fast that no one noticed a vampire had entered.
But Su Qian saw him. The moment Ye Xi appeared at the window, she smiled.
"Still smiling?" one of the medics grumbled. "Let’s see if you’re still laughing after we dissect you tomorrow."
In a flash, Ye Xi knocked out the medics and freed Su Qian, swiftly pulling her through the window and escaping with her.
Little did Ye Xi realize, though, that the security cameras had recorded everything.

"Why isn’t Ye Xi answering his phone?" After lunch, Su Yixia had excused herself to find Ye Xi and figure out a way to rescue Su Qian. She arrived at the school sports field and kept calling Ye Xi, but he didn’t answer.
She was so focused on the calls that she failed to notice someone on the rooftop, holding a large vase, about to hurl it at her head.
Su Yixia looked up in horror just in time to see the vase coming down. Frozen in shock, she couldn't move.
Just as the vase was about to hit her, a figure dashed in, pulling her away. The vase shattered on the ground.
"Jesse, what are you doing here?" Su Yixia, seeing it was Jesse who had saved her, seemed disappointed.
"What? You didn’t want to see me?" Jesse let go of her waist, glaring. "Elisa, am I really that insignificant to you?"
"You’re not even human!" Su Yixia pushed him away, "We’re from two different worlds!"
"What about Ye Xi?" Jesse’s face turned furious. "Why do you love him? Why would you be with him? Do you know how much that hurts me?"
Su Yixia hadn’t expected Jesse to know. Her face flushed red with embarrassment.
"Elisa, I can forget everything that’s happened. As long as you’re willing to be with me, I won’t care about anything else, I swear!"
"Jesse, you better give up on this idea!" Su Yixia stared directly into Jesse’s furious eyes and told him, "In this life, the person I love the most is An Ye Xis! In the next life, and even the one after that, it will never change!"
"Alyssa!" Jesse was truly enraged, and he roared fiercely, "I will never let that useless vampire prince An Ye Xis take you away from me!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jesse rushed forward in a flash and struck Su Yixia on the head. Instantly, she collapsed into his arms.
Without hesitation, Jesse held Su Yixia and disappeared from the scene in a flash.
After Ye Xi rescued Su Qian from the lab, he brought him back to their old home. Perhaps now, the most dangerous place was also the safest. This time, Ye Xi repeatedly reminded him, "Su Qian, please remember, whatever happens this time, do not leave!"
"Brother Ye Xi, I understand!" Su Qian had already experienced the torment of being treated as a lab rat; he had no desire to go through it again.
"I’ll go find your sister first. Stay home and do not go outside!" Ye Xi thought of something and added, "There are fresh blood bags in the fridge. Make do with them for now, and remember, don’t go out again!"
After that, Ye Xi swiftly left and rushed to Kingsley Academy to find Su Yixia.
