Amnesia

When Su Yixia regained consciousness for the third time, she found herself lying in her dormitory bed. "Xiaoyi, you're finally awake!" Her friend Jingjing, who had been anxiously waiting by her bedside, finally relaxed her furrowed brow. "Do you know how much you scared me?" "What happened to me?" Su Yixia seemed to have forgotten what had happened before. She frowned and looked at Xiaomo and Jingjing. "Why am I here? Shouldn't I be in class?" Her memory was stuck five days earlier, just before Cheng Nuo came to pick her up from school. "Xiaoyi!" Jingjing looked at her with growing concern, her expression turning fearful. "Do you really not remember anything?" "What exactly happened?" Su Yixia frowned even deeper, a sense of foreboding creeping into her heart as she saw Jingjing's hesitance. Jingjing nervously replied, "Five days ago, you and Cheng Nuo were in a car accident. But when the traffic police arrived, Cheng Nuo was the only one there—you had disappeared! Everyone searched everywhere for you, but there was no trace of you. We were all worried sick." "I've been missing for five days? Does my mom know?" Su Yixia was genuinely scared now, but even if the whole world knew about her disappearance, she didn't want her mother to find out. Her mom was already struggling enough with raising her younger brother on her own. Moreover, deep down, she no longer recognized Cheng Nuo. "The school hasn’t informed your mom yet. But Xiaoyi, ever since you disappeared," Jingjing's voice trembled with fear, "something terrible has been happening near the school!" "What kind of terrible thing?" Su Yixia asked with a frown. "Every night for the past week, a woman has been killed by a serial killer. They were all r***d and murdered. We were really worried that something might happen to you. Thank goodness you're okay!" Jingjing said, tears welling up in her eyes. Recalling the recent news reports about the serial killings, Jingjing was still shaken, too afraid to go out at night. "Jingjing, what day is it today?" Su Yixia hurriedly asked. "Xiaoyi, are you really okay?" Jingjing asked, holding up Su Yixia's bloodstained clothes from the chair. She frowned and asked, "When we found you last night, your clothes were soaked in blood. But when we took them off, there wasn't a single wound on you. How could that be?" "I... I don't remember!" Su Yixia shook her head weakly, trying hard to recall what had happened in the past five days. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember a thing. "Xiaoyi, do you still remember Cheng Nuo?" Jingjing asked, her face turning pale. Xiaoyi’s behavior was making her increasingly worried. "Who is Cheng Nuo?" Su Yixia looked at Jingjing in confusion. "Jingjing, who is he?" "Xiaoyi, you don't even remember Cheng Nuo anymore!" Jingjing was terrified by Su Yixia's abnormality. "But you still remember me, right?" "Jingjing, we've been best friends for more than ten years. How could I not recognize you?" Su Yixia spotted the calendar hanging on the wall and hurriedly got out of bed to put on her shoes and change her clothes. "Jingjing, I've already missed a week of classes. I need to get to class right away!" After quickly changing, Su Yixia rushed out of the dormitory. Jingjing watched her leave, an increasing sense of dread creeping into her heart. Cheng Nuo was still lying in the hospital, hovering between life and death, but Su Yixia had forgotten all about him? When Su Yixia reached the playground, she noticed a crowd gathered around the bulletin board. She didn't know why, but her hearing suddenly became incredibly sharp, and she could clearly hear the students' gossip even from a distance: "Su Yixia is such a jinx!" "Yeah, who knows if Cheng Nuo will even wake up?" "Cheng Nuo being with her was such a waste!" Feeling uncomfortable with the students' words, Su Yixia, who usually didn't like to meddle in others' affairs, found herself inexplicably drawn to the bulletin board. When the students saw her approaching, someone shouted, "Su Yixia is here!" Immediately, the crowd parted, each person looking at her with disgust. Except for one girl in a white dress, who stood with her back to Su Yixia in front of the bulletin board. That girl seemed to be the school beauty—Xu Yue! "Su Yixia!" The girl in the white dress turned around at this moment, her face streaked with tears. When she saw Su Yixia, her eyes flared with anger. "Su Yixia, you jinx!" "Xu Yue, what happened?" Su Yixia had no memory of Cheng Nuo, so all the memories of her rivalry with Xu Yue over Cheng Nuo were gone too. She looked at Xu Yue in confusion, not understanding why she was so angry. "Su Yixia, Cheng Nuo is still lying in the hospital, his life hanging by a thread, yet you act as if nothing has happened!" Xu Yue’s eyes reddened with rage at Su Yixia's calm demeanor. She slapped Su Yixia hard across the face and snarled, "If it weren't for your birthday, Cheng Nuo wouldn’t have had the accident! Why didn’t you get hurt? Why wasn’t it you? You should have died!" Cheng Nuo? The name sent a sharp pain through Su Yixia's heart. She didn't blame Xu Yue for hitting her, but her brow furrowed deeply. Why were they all talking about Cheng Nuo? Jingjing had mentioned him, and now Xu Yue too! But she didn’t know him at all! Su Yixia turned her attention to the bulletin board, where she saw it covered with photos of herself and a boy. In every picture, they were smiling brightly. Above the photos was a large title: "Happy Birthday, My Dear Xiaoyi!" She didn’t recognize the boy in the photos, but why was she with him? Why was she smiling so happily? Why did seeing his smile make her heart ache? Tears welled up in her eyes without her realizing it. "Su Yixia, stop pretending to be innocent!" Xu Yue's anger flared again at the sight of Su Yixia’s tears. She marched up to Su Yixia and swung her hand to slap her again. But something strange happened—Xu Yue’s hand froze in mid-air, as if some invisible force was holding it back. Before she could react, the crowd around them gasped in amazement: "Wow, who is he? He’s so handsome!" "I've never seen him before!" "He’s really handsome~" "Too handsome~" Xu Yue turned around in confusion, and the next moment, her heart skipped a beat. How could there be someone even more handsome than Cheng Nuo in this world? He looked like a prince straight out of a comic book, so unreal! Too handsome! Just too handsome! Xu Yue immediately forgot her grudge against Su Yixia, staring dumbfounded at the stunning boy in front of her. Everyone was mesmerized by the sudden appearance of this handsome boy, Su Yixia included. She frowned as she looked at the boy, who seemed almost supernatural, and felt an inexplicable familiarity. She didn’t know him, but why did he seem so familiar? Yet, she couldn’t recall where she might have seen him. "Get lost!" Yexi walked up to Xu Yue with an unchanging expression, glaring coldly at her as he growled. His voice wasn’t loud, but it sent a chill down Xu Yue’s spine. His presence was like a sudden frost in the middle of summer, making everyone feel a bone-deep cold. He exuded an aura of icy power. What happened next shocked everyone—Yexi wrapped his arm around Su Yixia’s waist. When his hand touched her, Su Yixia shivered uncontrollably. So cold! It was really cold! Cold enough to make her shudder with fear! But at that moment, fragments of images flashed through her mind. She seemed to see a tall, handsome figure appear before her, a familiar presence. But she didn’t know him, so why was he saying such things? Su Yixia opened her mouth to tell everyone that she had nothing to do with this boy, but the words that came out of her mouth shocked even herself: "Xu Yue, he is my new boyfriend!" "Su Yixia, let me tell you, from now on, Cheng Nuo has nothing to do with you anymore!" Although Xu Yue was dissatisfied with Su Yixia’s words, she quickly left after one last fierce glare, unable to withstand Yexi's icy gaze. Su Yixia’s heart suddenly ached with intense pain. She closed her eyes lightly, and when she opened them again a few seconds later, she realized that the students who had been surrounding her were gone. She was no longer standing in front of the bulletin board but on the school's rooftop. The only thing that hadn’t changed was that the mysterious, almost unreal, boy was still standing next to her. "Who are you?" Su Yixia asked, her brow furrowing as she looked at the impossibly handsome boy in front of her, a sense of dread creeping into her heart. "‘My name is Yexi!’ Yexi replied coldly, staring at her. If his lips hadn't moved, Su Yuexia would have seriously doubted that the person standing in front of her was a statue! 'Do we know each other?' Su Yixia asked, fearfully taking a few steps back. 'No, we don’t!' Yexi answered. 'Then how did I suddenly appear here?' Su Yixia asked, looking around in panic. 'Because I can perform magic!' Yexi gently lifted his hand to cover Su Yuexia's eyes. In an instant, he held her and leaped, and they suddenly reappeared on the playground."
