I feared he would give me several swift smacks on my ass after what I did last week, but he never did. In fact, s*x between us hadn’t happened at all. He hadn’t touched me since that night. My body still craved his, but I’d never throw myself at him. I wasn’t that girl.
Jake took long strides toward me. The way his thigh muscles flexed behind his pants made my insides tense with desire. He oozed the type of power that intimidated everybody in the room, including me. Every woman was drawn to him, their gazes following his every move as if he was a rare safari animal. The amount of money he had was mind-blowing, and women stalked him to the edge of the Earth. But when their gazes shifted to me, their expressions often changed from yearning to ill will, in four seconds flat.
