Long blonde hair cascaded over her slender shoulders as she walked toward us. She looked like a runway supermodel. She was every man’s dream: petite facial features, a feminine figure, graceful arms. The slit in her dress displayed lean legs, and she was every bit as confident as Jake.
Her head met him at eye-level, and she didn’t need to wear mega heels to reach him.
My legs were stumpy in comparison. It took ballerina skills plus extra shoe inches for me to whisper something in his ear.
Why the hell was he bringing her over here? Thank god the room was big, so I could plan an escape route. I didn’t like this. Not one bit.
Why was I comparing myself to a woman who was out of my league? Jake wanted her. That’s why they were together. Because they’re a couple.
