Chapter 2 :
King Edrick glanced at Philian, who, at 25 years old, looked dashing, tall, confident, and commanding. He exuded the aura of a leader capable of achieving success in any task. Satisfied with Philian's commanding presence and charm, which could captivate any woman, King Edrick initiated the conversation.
“I summoned you here to discuss our long-standing efforts to capture Earth”, King Edrick began,“For decades, we have endeavored to bring the Earth and its inhabitants under our control. Yet, some unknown power has thwarted us at every turn. Most recently, we were on the verge of success, only to be defeated by the untimely death of our main soldiers. This is why I have called you here today”.
King Edrick continued,“We shall commence the battle once again, determined to make our realm Quinonian the ruler of the universe. By defeating the humans on Earth and making them our slaves, we will assert our dominance. Only we, the quinins, with our supernatural powers and immense strength, are destined to rule this universe. We must capture Earth and honor the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in this struggle by winning this battle”.
Both Philian and Rebeka uttered in unison,“Yes, your highness! We are ready to sacrifice our lives to win this battle. What is your command?”, Their voices were laced with unwavering determination.
Nodding in satisfaction at their unwavering determination, King Edrick continued solemnly,“Philian! Your parents lost their lives in our last battle on the verge of our success. They were betrayed and brutally killed by the humans. I entrust this battle to you, granting full authority and freedom to orchestrate our plan against them. I offer you the chance to avenge your parents' deaths. What do you say?”, His voice resonated with authority and dominance.
Philian stood tall, chin held high, and replied with unwavering determination,“I am deeply honored by your trust in me for this battle and for granting me the chance to avenge my parents' deaths. Winning this battle will bring peace to their souls, wherever they may be. Thank you very much, your highness!”. His words resonated in the air with commanding resolve.
Noticing the fury, agony, frustration, and hatred in Philian’s eyes towards humans for his parents' death, King Edrick exclaimed,“Philian! I can sense your deep-seated resentment towards humans for depriving you of your parents' love, which is why I have entrusted this battle to you. Once you achieve success, I will honor you with my daughter’s hand and proclaim you king of planet Quinonian. This is my promise”, His voice resonated with determination.
Both Philian and Rebeka gaped at King Edrick in astonishment upon hearing his announcement of offering his daughter's hand and making Philian the ruler of the realm. While Rebeka masked her face with no visible emotions, her heart brimmed with envy and fury towards the king's daughter for harboring feelings towards Philian, whom she had adored since childhood. She was certain that King Edrick would not make such an announcement without his daughter's consent, intensifying her envy even more.
Bowing respectfully to King Edrick, Philian stood tall once again and vowed,“Your highness! I promise to succeed in this battle and ensure that our realm Quinonian reigns supreme over the universe!”, His words rang out with unwavering determination.
Upon hearing his vow, King Edrick dismissed them, pleased with Philian’s unwavering determination to conquer the battle on Earth. After bowing their heads respectfully once again, Rebeka and Philian departed the hall.
After exiting the King’s palace, Rebeka glanced at Philian and asked, "Philian, are you excited about the King’s offer? Will you marry Princess Catherine?" Her voice was tinged with uncertainty.
Philian glanced at Rebeka with an expressionless face and replied,“My priority is to conquer Earth and gain control of it. Other matters are of no concern to me; my sole aim is to avenge my parents' deaths”, with that, Philian departed with long, determined strides.
Throughout the day, Philian was consumed by thoughts of his parents, who were brutally killed by the humans, and he vowed to avenge their deaths. He gathered his friends to discuss and orchestrate the plan for initiating the battle. They decided to first go to Earth and acclimate to its way of life. Once they had learned about the humans' strengths and weaknesses, they would launch a sudden attack to conquer the planet.
That night, Philian was deprived of sleep, haunted by a pair of doe-like eyes brimming with care, affection, longing, and pity, imploring him to come soon to meet her. He struggled in vain to push away the thought and sat on his bed, feeling frustrated. Those eyes, which appeared in his dreams every no-moon night, conveyed a deep longing and a silent plea for protection. Unable to escape their haunting gaze, he pulled his hair in anguish and screamed.
“Who are you? Where are you? Why do you appear in my dreams? What do you want? Go away from my life!” Philian roared, unable to bear the longing in those eyes. His voice thundered, reverberating through the void and echoing across the realms to the land of another world.
On the planet Earth, a young woman in her early twenties jolted awake, terrified by the voice she had heard in her dream. Her throat was parched, her forehead damp with beads of sweat, and her heart pounded rapidly from the sudden roar that had filled her dream, instilling a profound fear within her. She inhaled deeply, attempting to calm her racing heart, and reached for the bottle on her bedside table to gulp down some water.
Hearing a knock on the door, the young lady set the bottle aside after gulping the water and rose to her feet to open it. As she opened the door, she saw her friend, who was of the same age, standing there with a frightened expression, ready to deliver some bad news.
Noticing the fear on her friend's face, the young lady gently inquired,“Ravali !What's wrong? Why do you look so frightened?”, her voice was filled with concern and anxiety.
Holding her shoulder, Ravali exclaimed,“Saanvi! Another little girl went missing last night. They found her clothes in the forest, but not her body. Her parents are devastated. She's your student, Anaka”, tears streamed down her face like a pool.
Frozen by her words, Saanvi, who worked as a primary school teacher at a nearby convent, stood still, unable to believe the news. Tears streamed down her face involuntarily as she thought of her student who had lost her life.
Perceiving the agony that Saanvi was enduring, Ravali took her into her arms and comforted her, gently patting her back. Overwhelmed with emotions, Saanvi cried her heart out for the little girl who had lost her life at such a young age.
“Ravali! What’s happening to our town? Why are the little girls disappearing? This is the third girl to go missing. Why were only their clothes found? What happened to them? Are they still alive? How many more must we lose?”, Saanvi wailed, pouring her heart out in Ravali’s arms.
“Saanvi! Please, get a hold of yourself. If you drown in this pit of agony, who will question these atrocities? As a well-educated woman and a teacher, you can find a way to address this trouble. Think of something to prevent these little kids from going missing”, Ravali said, trying to pacify her. She admired Saanvi for her knowledge, kind heart, and the way she fought for justice in the town.
Extricating herself from the anguish, Saanvi pulled away from Ravali. With a determined look, she asked,“What is the town head, Rudrendra, doing? Has he announced anything to the town?”, She adjusted her hair as she spoke, her resolve evident.
“All the people have assembled at his house, demanding justice. I came to inform you and take you there to question the town head”, Ravali said, glancing at Saanvi. She then inquired with a voice tinged with care,“Why did you look frightened when you opened the door? Why is your face so pale?”.
