CHAPTER 1
Tears.
Pain, Disgust.
All these were written on her face
“Dad, I’m not gonna do it. I wouldn’t marry someone just because you want me to,” Olivia stood facing her dad, tears falling from her eyes. Her eyes were red, one could tell only with a glance that she was going through a lot at that moment.
She just got sacked by her boss recently just because water spilled on his document. It wasn’t her fault actually as the incident was being planned. She was one of the most diligent workers there and most people who hated her had to plan that so she could leave the company.
“Olivia, my business isn’t moving smoothly, I’ve begged numerous people for help, both my friends, but none came. It was only Rodrigo,” he said with pleading eyes,” He’s just asking for an heir from you or children who would take over his business,” Olivia stared into his own eyes. She was mad at the man in front of her.
She couldn't believe it was her father, Alexander, who would utter these words, who would sell her, despite him knowing she had ambitions, she had dreams. She felt like insulting him, but when she realized he was her father, she pulled back those thoughts.
“Dad, I can't believe this, I thought you loved me? I thought you cared for me? Why would you make such a proposal without asking for my response?” she cried, her voice a bit loud.
“Have you forgotten I have a boyfriend, have you forgotten that I'm in love with him,” she added. She tried reminding him that she had a boyfriend, so maybe he would consider and then allow her to go on, but no. It never changed Alexander’s mind.
“I’m not going against my will Olivia, I can’t even allow you to marry that son of a b***h,” he snapped. He never loved Leonardo, who was Olivia’s boyfriend, a bit. He always had a feeling that Leonardo was cheating on her unknowingly. He had also tried to warn her against him but she never paid listening ears.
“Dad don’t call him that. I'm not marrying Rodrigo just because he needs an heir. If he needs an heir to take over his business, there are other girls outside. Why me? Why always me?” She fell to the ground, covering her hand against her face, and crying heavily. Alexander on the other hand felt pity for her, but he wasn’t going against his decision.
“Your marriage with Rodrigo is certain Olivia, it’s happening tomorrow. He has paid for your preparations. You better be prepared for the big day tomorrow,” he snapped and left her on the floor in the pool of tears.
Olivia didn’t move an inch after her father had left her, she was still there crying heavily. Why is the world cruel to her? Why aren't things going as planned? All these questions clouded her thoughts.
She stood up from the ground on which she was lying, tears still dripping from her eyes. She took her office bag from the parlor couch and walked straight to her room. she looked like someone defeated in a battle as she walked straight to her room slowly her head bent down.
She opened the door of her room, headed inside, and locked the door from the inside. She looked tired At the moment. The thoughts that ran through her mind were that maybe she could be the only one passing through all those challenges. It wasn't like she got the job not knowing her dad could provide for her, but she just wanted to be busy doing something.
She let her back slide down on her door as she used her hand to embrace her two legs. She bent her head down, still trying to process everything that happened today. Suddenly she heard a knock on her door and her name was called.
“It’s me, Olivia.” Her mother, Rachel said. She stood up from the door and opened it for her mum to get in. Rachel came to view once the door was opened. She looked into her daughter's eyes, tears filled it and her face was puffy.
“I’m sorry, Olivia,” she embraced her in a hug, Olivia let the tears that she’d been saving, fall on her mother's back. Rachel who felt moist on her back didn’t care at all. Although she was against the decision of her Daughter to marry Rodrigo the billionaire, she couldn’t save her at the moment.
“You aren’t supposed to go through this, my child,” she stopped hugging Olivia and cupped her face with her hands. Olivia could see tears in her mother's eyes, but they weren’t falling.
“I understand Mum,”
“Please never forget, Dad never wanted this to happen. It was against his will. He was just_”
“Mum it’s okay, I’ve heard enough,” Olivia said angrily, but in a low tone, her head bent down.
“Hey, my princess, don’t worry, everything is going to be okay,” Rachel cupped her face with her hand again. She smiled and tried to make Olivia do the same, but Olivia still maintained her frown. She pushed some strands of Olivia’s hair to the back so she could display her good-looking figure.
‘She looked beautiful’ she said to her inner self.
“I have to go now. I need to prepare something for your dad before he’s back home,” Rachel said with a smile, and with that, she left the room, leaving the heartbroken Olivia.
Olivia just went to her bed and sat down. Although she loved her mother so much, she wasn’t going to fall for her words. She tried deducing a plan that she could use and escape this marriage.
“Yes,” she screamed excitedly, but in a low tone so no one in the house could hear her. The thought of calling Leonardo her boyfriend came to her brain. She planned to call Leonardo, tell him about it, and then they’re gonna fly outside the country and start their life elsewhere without any disturbance or family issues.
She picked up her phone and searched for Leonardo’s contact. Once she found it, she called him. She dialled his number three times but there was no response. She even sent him some messages and waited for like an hour, but he didn’t view it nor did he send her any reply. Her sadness came back once again.
‘What could he be possibly doing?’ She thought to herself. She knew Leonardo was a very busy person, but even though he was that busy, he always answered her calls and replied to her messages.
“Let me head to his house then,” she said. She didn’t want to waste any time so she could leave the house before her dad was back. She knew once her dad was back she wouldn’t be able to leave the house again.
She put on a black gown which stopped beneath her knee. She didn’t like exposed dresses that much. Then she wore a black coat too and put on a black shoe. Everything about her That moment was completely dark.
She didn’t apply any makeup. She feared that maybe it was gonna waste her time. When she was done with dressing, she opened her window and jumped to the back of the house. She didn’t want to follow the front because, once she did, she was going to be bombarded with too many questions from her Mum about her whereabouts.
She reached for the back gate. It was a small black metal gate, being installed for safety and other reasons. She opened it and closed it quietly when she was out.
The road was becoming scarce and the weather was getting colder. It actually wanted to rain. She exhaled after she knew she wasn’t around her house premises. ‘At least no one saw her,’ she thought.
She waved for a taxi coming nearby to stop. When she got in, she gave the taxi man the directions to her boyfriend's house. The distance between her and her boyfriend's house was like an hour's journey, so she kept on trying to call him too from him, she was coming.
She didn’t get any response from him again and she just slid her phone inside her Bag, then she relaxed her head on the car seat. When she was finally at Leonardo’s house, she paid the taxi man and got out, waving the taxi man goodbye as she smiled, even though she knew she was hurt. She always did that to people.
She adjusted her dress and also checked her face before knocking on Leonardo’s door.
“Why’s no one coming to open the door?” She frowned. She opened it and went in. She was a bit happy at the door because it meant maybe he was around.
When she got inside the house and headed to the living room, ok reaching there, she discovered the living room was messed up. Unfinished meals, cans, and bottles of wine everywhere. She’d never been to his house and caught it messed up this way.
She wanted to help in arranging the living room, as a means of showing care. She thought maybe he was in a bad mood that was why the place was messed up, but the voices she heard upstairs caught her attention.
“Huh? Why’s upstairs so noisy?” She started climbing the stairs and heading upstairs. On the stairs, she saw Leonardo’s clothes on the floor and also a dark jean skirt.
‘Those don’t look like my clothes. Did he get those for me? Why are they here?’ All those questions clouded her thoughts as she proceeded upstairs.
She was finally up the stairs and was heading to Leonardo’s room. The loud groans grew louder as she proceeded to his room.
“Yeah, give me more Rita. I need more of you,” she heard Leonardo’s voice in the room she was heading to, but what caught her attention the most was the other name which he pronounced.
“What? What’s Rita doing here? Is this real or am I dreaming?” She slowly walked to the room and opened the door, only to view the two people she loved in the world having s*x with pleasure.
This can’t be happening.
