I loved halloween! Like we finally get to get all dressed up in silly costumes, and it’s normal! My huge pink t-shirt dress was super comfortable, as I ran around chasing the kids. Like I felt alive! My heart was filled to the brim of love for Dennis, and it’s just making my time with everyone else feel like bliss! I knew we may have gone a bit naughty at the gas station, but I’ll make sure it stays at our house from now on. Especially if we’re going to be picked on, Theo! Like you started it! I ran past the table, and picked up a gummy bear before I was chasing the little girl again. Austin and Dean were chasing me, so I had to play slow to make them look fast now that I have my bear shifter speed. Dennis said that in a week I should be able to shift fully! Like how cool is that!
“Precious, would you like some water?” Dennis says to my right as he follows us in the chase.
Awe, he’s so sweet! Like I truly hope everyone gets someone as special as Dennis is with me. He always makes sure I’m eating, drinking, smiling, and having a great time. I just don’t know how I could ever live without him, now. Can’t believe I was going to take this mega slow and possible lose him. Even though I doubt that would have happened.
“I would love some. Thank you! Sorry kids, I need a break. But I promise to be back!” I tell the little ones, as I walk with Dennis to the table. Man, mom truly went all out! I think she told me that Sasha and Alex were the ones that did the most though. So I’ll have to tell Sasha thank you for helping mom. Like the house is full of trees, usually each year we keep them bare. But this year, there are all kinds of spooky ghosts and witches flying around. There’s skeletons all over the ground, covered in fake blood as arms are popping out like a zombie apocalypse. They even put some zombies coming down the hills, some hanging out windows, and others are in the junk vehicles looking mega gross.
The house looks like it's been drenched in blood, while other bits and pieces of body parts are scattered about. Jared, Lex’s dog is wearing a Zero costume while a blown up Jack and Sally stood beside him. Laughing at all the crazy decor I looked back at the table to see Dennis giving me a sweet smile. He lifts up a cup, and hands it to me. As I take it, I say “Thank you, Den! Did you wanna pick a few things to chew on while we’re taking a break from chasing kids?”
“Of course, precious. Is there anything that catches your eye?” He says while lifting two plates.
“Hmm, how about I make you a plate and you make mine. Let’s see how much we know each other by now.” I say in a sweet but teasing voice.
“Ohh, now that sounds like a fun game.” He says before he places a kiss on my cheek, then gets to staking up my plate.
I tried to hide his plate from him, so he couldn’t see what all I put on it. As I reach for meat sticks with little pretzels sticking out of the sides. Almost making it into a stick figure. I also grab, a vanilla cupcake that was decorated as a mummy, a brownie that had gummy worms mixed into it, and a few vanilla cake pops that had a wide variety of spooky decor. But I went with a skeleton head, a bat, and a ghost one. Feeling the plastic plate starting to dip, I call it quits for now and turn to see a plate full of deliciousness placed in Dennis’s hands. He gives me a knowing smile, before saying “Do you see something you like, precious?”
Chuckling, I say, “Yes, you.” Before I leaned up to place a kiss on his adorable lips, then say “But this plate of goodies would be a great second.” Which caused him to chuckle, before he said “I know what you mean, that plate could definitely be my second favorite thing I see.” As he reaches over to grab a stick meat figure then takes a bite, practically eating it in one go.
With that we sat down eating, I asked how he was feeling about seeing the place I grew up and he told me he loves that he was able to see it. We talked about visiting, and making sure to keep checking up on mom as we watched her walking around. She’s definitely getting older, plus her birthday is around the corner so maybe we call all get together and throw her the biggest bestest birthday party ever!
“Would you want to come see my pack? I know that you want to stay here till graduation and I fully understand. I just know my family wants to see you soon, they keep blowing up my phone asking about you.” Dennis says after a long pause of silence.
“I’d love to, plus I could always do some video chat until graduation if that’s ok. I bet they're missing you though.” I told him honestly, I can’t wait to meet his family. The way he talks about them is just so filled with love and compassion.
Chuckling he says, “Well everyone besides my younger brother Darius. He likes that he gets to take over the pack while I’m gone.”
“Come on Dennis, you have to let you mate mingle.” Theo said while pulling a very confused looking Dennis away from me. Poor guy looked like he wanted to stay, I gave him a sad wave before my line of vision was blurred as Lex walked in front of me.
“So, what were you two talking about?” Lex asked as she sat down in the seat Dennis just got dragged out of.
“You know, a little bit of everything. What about you and Theo?” I knew I would regret it the moment the words left my mouth, as I watched her face go red and her mouth twisted into a huge grin.
“Oh, you know there wasn’t that much of talking. More like screaming and moaning.” She said while she turned to stare at Theo.
Oh boy, she’s starting to act like Beth. Is she trying on purpose? I didn’t even get to speak before she said, “If I wasn’t pregnant before, I sure would be after what we just did.”
I can’t even think of something to say to that. So I just looked around, I watched as Lauren and Sasha talked to Damien, before Luc went up and turned back around to walk away after Beth was called away. Ha, what the heck were they talking about. He went back though, as Damien asked him to. I turned my eyes to Beth, I love seeing that little bump. Maybe I should go touch it. Nah, I don’t want to be rude. Especially since she’s eating. So I turned my gaze on Anna and Sam talking with Mary. Anna seemed super excited with whatever they were discussing. Back to watch as Luc pulls a very disturbed looking Damien away from Lauren and Sasha. He pulled him to my mate and Theo. I guess it’s guy talk time. Looking back at Lex, I see her with a sad look.
“What’s wrong?” I asked while touching her arm.
“I think you don’t like me anymore.” She says while sniffling.
“Ooh, that’s not true. Plus you know what happened last time you and Theo went at it, me and Dennis couldn’t stop ourselves.” I say in a hopeful way to cheer her up. Seeing her start to smile she says, “Ooh, yeah. You two were like rabbits that were pulled apart from each other for too long.” While she giggled.
Smiling, I look to see a pouting teary eyed Beth. Luc fixed her up in no time, by cleaning her tears up with a slow single lick to each cheek, before he kissed her lips. It felt too intimate to watch, but next thing you know Lex is right there between them crying, what I hope is happy tears.
Theo rushed over in no time, as I watched mom get on the porch. She then said, “Ok, can I have everyone’s attention!” We all looked her way, some of the little kids even walked up to her. “It is time for the hayfield maze! Now before we begin, let’s count heads and make some groups.”
Moments later after you see almost every mom and child count, she says “Since there are twenty-four of us, how about we have eight groups of three.” I looked around and hoped that everyone had fun.
“Now the three that come out first wins! We have three totes full of prizes as we start all the games! To make the maze fair, let’s try having a shifter in each group, ok? Each group also has to have a kid in it. Now let’s have the kids pick their team members!” Mom finished with outstretched arms, letting the kids know it’s time to pick.
Kathy ran over and picked me, as well as Rick. I saw a disappointed Dennis, so I blew him a kiss. Kathy sat on my lap as we waited for everyone to get in their groups. Rick was chewing on a burger, when mom said, “Ok, everyone line up! I’m going to give everyone a different color for each of the groups. Can all the kids run up and pick the color they want for their groups.”
Kathy chose red, I didn’t mind that at all. I helped her put it on, and she did mine. After what felt like a second, we were led to different directions and couldn’t see each other. So I held Kathy’s hand and started walking with Rick following us.
“Hm, I wonder if I could just jump to the top and see where to go.” Rick said under his breath, but my new ears let me hear. I took a big whiff of the air, looked towards the ground and even closed my eyes to hear around me.
“I think we should go left.” I say, as the wind seems to be coming more from that path.
“Sounds good.” Rick says as we walk in that direction.
We came to a crossroads, and I repeated my first tactics. “We should go right”
They followed, not asking questions. But trust me. All of a sudden we heard a loud scream and then it felt like an earthquake. Knowing something must have happened I tried to go faster at figuring out where the exit was. It felt like an hour passed before I saw an opening ahead. Woot! We did it!! We ran the rest of the way, that’s when mom yelled, “We have a winner! Everyone make your way out of the field as fast as you can we have another spooky game to play!”
I told Kathy to go pick her prize, while I thought about that weird scream and what caused the ground to shake slightly. I watched as everyone walked out of the fields, until I saw a naked Bethany carrying Sandy out. She sat her down and walked back into the maze. I rushed over and said, “What happened Sandy? Is everything ok?”
She shakes her head, like she wasn’t going to tell me before she ran off. So I stayed at the exit of the maze and waited. Dennis came over and just wrapped his arms around me. Sensing something’s off. “What happened?” He asked.
“I don’t know, but I have a gut feeling something bad.” I told him. Just then I saw Beth and Luc walk out from a different exit, and towards the vehicles. I’ll ask her before she leaves. Right now they need privacy
