Tribrid’s Rejected Heart

My name is Scarlet Ember Gains, I am 17 years old and a senior at Supernatural Academy in Las Vegas. Today is my first day of senior year. I am an honor student and very smart. I have red hair, green eyes and am 5’9”. Many say I should be a model because of my height. I’m not a typical girly girl, I enjoy wearing Jeans, blouses and a leather jacket with my combat boots. My 18th birthday is in 2 months and then I’ll get to meet my mate. To be honest I am scared my mate will reject me because of who I am. My dad is a werewolf and my mom is a vampire witch hybrid. This makes me a tribrid I am part witch, vampire and werewolf. Many of my pack members don’t like me because I am different from them. No one knows that I’m a tribrid except for our Alpha and my parents because I am good at hiding it. My best friend is the packs Delta Cameron Carson and it’s been hard keeping my secret for the last 4 years. I want to tell him but I don’t know how he will take it. I mean everyone sees my wolf when we shift on a full moon and they know about my healing gift as a witch. Mom says my vampire side will start showing when I meet my mate for the first time. I’m afraid once my mate realizes what I am he’ll reject me because he is scared or just thinks I’m a freak. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait to see what my mate does and see who it is. Mom says there’s a possibility of me getting 2 mates though. She believes one will be a werewolf and the other a vampire, but we won’t know for a couple more months. We have alliances with two small vampire covens and a witch coven. We’ve learned that it’s good to have alliances for if our pack is ever under attack. Our academy is large and accepts witches, werewolves and vampires that want an education. The vampire coven to our south is called Henderson Vampire Community and the coven to our North is Mesquite City. The witches coven is Searchlight City. Our alpha Jason Christiansen is good friends with the leaders of all three communities. They all grew up together and attended Supernatural Academy. Their children are roughly around the same age as me maybe a year older. Surprisingly the children haven’t met their mates yet so either their mate isn’t of age yet or not in our area. The alphas son Jaxon is 19 and attending university for a business degree because his family owns a few businesses in our pack. The Vampire Kings daughter Alaiya Lisa Crane is 20 and in her 3rd year at university because she wants to be a lawyer in our community. Then we have our South Vampire Royals son Brandon Cranston training hard to be a warrior. Our alliance with this communities helps keep rogues from attacking our town. My dad is the Beta to Alpha Jason so I have beta blood running through my veins. I train on weekends with the warriors so I can help my pack if the need ever arises and we get attacked. My best friend is usually my partner when we spar. He turns 18 just a month after me. We always talk about our dreams and who we hope our mates will be. Well it’s now the end of the school day and I have to meet Brandon so he can give me a ride home and we can do our school work. We have 3 classes together so we always try helping each other. I exit the school building and see Cameron standing by his 67’ Cherry Red Mustang with his arms crossed Cameron“Hey, Scarlet what took you so long school ended 20 minutes ago.” I reply “Sorry Cam, I had to talk to my science teacher about our upcoming class project.” Brandon says, Okay, well let’s get you home and get our homework done before dinner. I walk in through my front door and mom says “Hey, Scarlet how was your first day of senior year.” I reply “It was okay mom but I have honors classes for English, math and Science.” Mom turns to Cameron and says “how was your day?” He replies “It was good Scarlet and I have 3 classes together this year.” Mom says “That’s Good, do you want to stay for dinner?” Cameron sniffs the air and smells the aroma of lasagna and agrees to stay. “Scarlet, Cameron dinner is ready” says my mom. “Be Right Down Mom” I say and Cameron says “here we come.” We all sit around the table and dig into the delicious lasagna with a side salad and garlic bread. I turn to mom and ask “Where’s Dad?” Mom says “he is finishing up his afternoon patrol with our Alpha.” We continue eating our dinner in silence. “Do you kids want dessert “ mom says. Then says she made a Strawberry Cheesecake. Cameron and I look at each other then to mom and say yes please. Strawberry Cheesecake is one of our favorite desserts. Mom’s cutting the cheesecake and all of a sudden she zones out for a minute. “Mom are you okay?” “Hey Ms. Gaines are you okay?” Says Cameron . Mom snaps out of her zoned states to reply. “Yes I am fine it was just Mr. Gains saying he’s on his way home and wants to talk to you kids.” Cameron and I look at each other confused. Why would my dad want to talk to us. We just started the school year so it can’t be because we got into mischief at lunch. As I’m finishing my cheesecake I sniff the air and know my dad is about to walk in the back door that’s off our dining room. “Hey Scarlet , Cameron how are you kids?” Says dad. I reply “We are good dad. Mom said you wanted to talk to us. “ Yes, Scarlet I need to talk to you and Cameron.” Says dad. “Good Evening Mr.Gains” says Cameron. “What did you want to discuss with us dad?” I say. “Hey, honey come sit down because this discussion involves you too” dad tells mom. Mom turns to dad kissing him on the cheek and taking her seat next to him. “Scarlet, Cameron as you both know your birthdays are coming up in two months.” “Yes dad I know. “ I say. “Yes, sir Mr. Gaines I am aware.” Says Cameron. Dad looks from me to Cameron trying to figure out how to approach the subject of our upcoming birthday. Then he starts to speak, “ Alpha Jason wants to host a party for your birthdays and invite the surrounding packs and alliances for you kids. “ I look at my dad and ask “Why would he want to do that?” Dad says “because you kids work very hard and he sees how well you train yo be warriors so he wants to award you for your hard work.” I look at dad then mom and then I glance at Cameron sighing. “Is everything alright Scarlet” says dad and mom in unison. I look at my dad not knowing what to say. Mom squeezes my hand to reassure me everything is okay. “Well dad the thing is I don’t really want a big party. What if my mates there and decides to reject me in front of everyone?” I say. “Why would your mate reject you says dad?” I look to the floor so my dad doesn’t see the tears in my eyes. “I’m not like the other wolves, what if my mate can’t accept that?” I reply. Cameron looks at me and smiles then he says “Any man would be a lucky man if you were his mate. You are sweet, smart, beautiful, and very hardworking.” I look up and see the tenderness and honesty in my best friends eyes and say “Thank you but I’m not so sure I agree with you. I am different from everyone else. Cameron looks at me and says “Why do you doubt my words?” I sigh and look my best friend in the eyes then look to my parents pleading with my eyes.
