He..My boss??!
“This is your desk. Please don’t be late. And… good luck. You’ll need it.” Elina stood frozen as the HR staff walked away, leaving her alone in front of a sleek glass office. Her fingers trembled slightly around her tote bag. First day as an intern, and she was already placed in the CEO’s division. She gulped. She had heard about him. Adrian Khalid. Young, brilliant, terrifyingly cold. The kind of boss who could fire someone with just a glance. Great. What a way to die young. “Miss Elina?” a deep voice startled her. She turned. There he was — tall, dressed in sharp black, holding a coffee cup like he owned the world. And he probably did. Adrian Khalid looked straight into her eyes with unreadable expression. “Yes, sir,” she stammered, dropping her files. He bent slightly, picking them up before she could. Their fingers brushed. She jolted. “Careful,” he said, eyes flicking down to her hand. “Don’t tremble. I don’t bite.” He walked off, leaving her heart pounding like it wanted to escape her chest. The next few days were hell. Or maybe heaven. She couldn’t decide. Every time she passed his office, he was already looking — like he sensed her. He never smiled, but his eyes always lingered. Why is he staring? Did I mess something up? Or… is it something else? One afternoon, as she handed him a document, his fingers brushed hers again. This time, he didn’t move away so quickly. “Do you always blush this easily?” he asked suddenly, low enough only she could hear. Her face went red instantly. “I—I’m not blushing.” “You are.” He smirked slightly. She almost tripped over her own feet walking out. The worst — or best — moment came on a rainy Friday. The elevator was almost empty when she entered, dripping from the downpour. Just her and… him. Of course. Her umbrella had snapped, her white blouse half-soaked, her ID card clinging to her chest. She tried to hide it. Adrian turned to her, slowly pulling off his jacket. “You’ll catch a cold.” “I’m okay—” He placed it gently over her shoulders, his hand brushing her wet neck. She froze. “You should be more careful,” he said, voice softer now. Suddenly the elevator jolted. Stopped. Power out. She gasped, clutching his jacket tighter. Then — the lights flickered again. And in that strange, quiet space, their eyes locked. He leaned in. Just to check if she was okay… right? Or maybe not. Before she could think, his lips met hers — brief, soft, hesitant. But real. Elina’s heart exploded. Literally. She was sure. When he pulled back, his expression unreadable, he murmured, “Sorry… I didn’t mean to—” But did he? The elevator dinged. Doors opened. People stared. He walked out first, leaving her speechless, still holding his jacket. To be continued…
