Chapter 12 Manager Dan sneered as he watched Julia packing her belongings. "Finally, you're being kicked out! You and your daughter are nothing but trouble," he snarled, his voice dripping with malice. Julia's eyes flashed with anger, but she remained calm. "I'm not being kicked out, Manager Dan. I'm leaving with a new opportunity, one that will provide a better life for my daughter and me." Manager Dan laughed mockingly. "Oh, sure, with that rich guy? You think he'll take care of you? Ha! You're just a charity case, Julia. You'll always be a nobody." Julia's face flushed with anger, but she refused to engage. "Goodbye, Manager Dan. I wish you all the best." But Manager Dan wouldn't let go. He stepped closer, his eyes blazing with resentment. "You think you're better than us? You think you can just walk out on us? Well, let me show you what happens when you cross me." And with that, he lunged at Julia, his fists clenched. But Alex appeared out of nowhere, grabbing Manager Dan's arm and twisting it behind his back. "I think you've done enough damage, Manager Dan," Alex said, his voice cold and firm. "Leave Julia and her daughter alone. They're under my protection now." Manager Dan struggled, but Alex held him firm. Finally, he released him, and Manager Dan stormed off, muttering curses under his breath. Julia watched him go, her heart still racing. "Thank you, Alex," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Alex smiled and put a reassuring arm around her shoulders. "You're safe now, Julia. I promise." Diamond's eyes sparkled as she approached Alex, her little hand extended. "Hello, I'm Diamond!" she said, her voice full of confidence. Alex's heart melted at the sight of the tiny girl, her curly hair and bright smile captivating him. "Well, hello there, Diamond! I'm Alex," he replied, shaking her hand. Diamond giggled, her eyes shining with excitement. "You're a handsome uncle, Alex!" Alex chuckled, feeling a warmth in his chest. "And you're a beautiful young lady, Diamond!" As they packed their belongings, Alex couldn't help but notice Julia's gaze on him, a mix of gratitude and wariness. He smiled reassuringly, feeling a connection with this little family. Once they loaded the car, Julia hesitated, gesturing to the back seat. "I'll sit with Diamond, if that's okay?" Alex grinned playfully. "Ah, but I'm your driver, right? You should sit up front with me!" Julia's cheeks flushed slightly as she moved to the front seat. Alex followed, his proximity making her heart race. As he reached across her to buckle her seatbelt, their hands touched, sending a spark through both of them. "Just making sure you're safe," Alex said, his eyes locking onto hers. Julia's thoughts whirled, but she couldn't deny the flutter in her chest. "Thanks, Alex," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
